You know, it really isn't Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off the Nakatomi Tower.

John knew that Gruber was not "Bill Clay" by the way he held his cigarette. It was held in the way that many Europeans hold theirs.

This was Alan Rickman's Hollywood debut, he was a veteran British stage actor before. When they did the final stunt, dropping Gruber of the building, the stunt coorinator told Rickman "We go 1, 2, 3, DROP" and then promptly went 1, DROP. Rickman/Gruber's look of fear is for real.

Bruce's cop buddy is actually Carl from Family Matters not Fresh Prince. If you haven't seen *12 Angry Men* from the 1950's then I highly recommend it. It is a masterpiece.

This was Alan Rickman's first film. He had been a stage actor previously. He was hesitant to take this role, because he didn't want his first movie to be as an action villain. But thankfully, they talked him into it. Tension is almost a lost art in Hollywood these days. The scene where John and Hans first meet is perfect tension. You don't know who really has the upper hand. The whole scene is filmed at a Dutch angle to make everything seem off. It's a battle of wits, as tense as any fight scene. John and Hans never have a fist fight. Karl is the Dragon of the movie, the enforcer of Hans' will. The whole movie is a battle of intellect between the two leads.

"Is this set on Valentines Day?" "Oh, nope. There is a Christmas tree!" As EVERY person whose ever' seen Die Hard before, flinches in pain. lol

The cop isn't uncle Phil he's from family matters character Carl Winslow he's the father and plays a cop in the show.

Bruce Willis became famous for the tv show Moonlighting where he played a private detective. It's a comedy but I don't remember any episodes as it was a long time ago. I remember I enjoyed it.

Bruce is in Fith Element (futuristic, sci fi comedy) and Sixth Sense (paranormal, drama). He was the voice of the baby in Look Who's Talking, a suspense drama called Hostage, Die Hard 2 of course, and literally 100 other films google. Oh yeah he was also in Friends one season as Ross's very young girlfriend's dad/Racheal's boyfriend.

The building is Fox Plaza in Century City CA.I was a courier for the studios about 5 years ago. I made deliveries to that building about 3 times a week. Took me several visits to realize it was the same building

Fun Fact: Nakatomi Towers is actually Fox's HQ. They shot the movie in their own building.

John McClain is a beloved character because he cracks jokes at the absurdity of what's going on. Complains and bitches about doing what he has to do. He realizes law enforcement bosses are severely incompetent and John is willing to do the things no one else will do or can do. But he does the job because no one else will.

The next Bruce Willis movie you should watch is either The Fifth Element or The Sixth Sense.

1. Karl/Alexander Godunov(RIP) also played in "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks and "Witness" with non Indiana/Solo Harrison Ford. He had a very interesting story. 2. Robinson/Paul Gleason(RIP) seems to always play buttheads. I.e. "Trading Places" and "The Breakfast Club". 3. It looks like he's going to have a place to stay afterall 😍😋 4. Another fun Willis movie that have similar events is "The Last Boy Scout". They drop more F-bombs that you can shake a stick at. Including a little girl.

Katie's reactions are hilarious so fun. And judging by her squeamish nature to gore, I really hope The Thing or The Fly is on your to watch list😀😀😀

Make sure to watch “Die Hard 2: Die Harder.” "Die HArd 3: Die hard with a vengence". DIE HARD 4: Live Free Die Hard. It keeps getting better and better.

he needed the detonators because C4 is almost useless without them. c4 is actually pretty stable and almost needs to be blown up (with a detonator or blasting cap) in order to explode

Nobody knew what to expect - Die Hard re-defined the action movie. Sooo many action flicks after that were "Die Hard on a" plane or aircraft carrier or train, etc. Kind of like how John Wick re-defined it, a couple of decades later. There are a bunch of sequels - I like the second one, the third one not so much, but they're still good. And the fourth one is kinda cheesy but I really liked it anyway :) However, this is one I've re-watched the most - every year at Christmas time :)

Ty and Katie your reaction to this movie was so refreshing and unexpected It really was nostalgic, taking me back to when I first saw the movie. What's truly unexpected is the fact that you all know nothing about this movie at all. Ya'll think it's a romantic drama where the couple is about to have their reconciliation. Little do you all know that it's one of the best action heist movies of all time and set the standard for many of its successors to come.

See what happens, when your boss is too cheap to book a Christmas party at a good restaurant? Or leaves the Christmas party until the very last minute?

Regarding Bruce Willis films ... besides the entire Die Hard franchise, you might want to try "The Last Boy Scout" - another great action film that sort of sneaks up on you.

I have rewatched this movie several times. Whenever I see it I remember a skit from In Living Color (at its most mildest it could be described as politically incorrect). In the skit the Wayan brothers were portraying two obviously gay film critics. They were reviewing Die Hard 2: Die Harder. The one comment they made which I doubt I will ever forget was "What I don't understand for such a violent movie is why they gave it a title of a love story" Personally I was not as fond of 2 as 3 and 4. But the 1st is definitely the best. Rickman rules
