Beetlejuice was in theaters in 1988 and Winona Ryder at the time was 17,18 at the time so that’s why she’s now a parent of teenage kids in the series Stranger Things

“The genius that thought of the talking Marcel Marceau statue” is such a brilliant little throwaway line that maybe .01% of people appreciate.

My mom said I would cry so much as a baby but she would put this movie on and I would stop crying immediately. So I can say subconsciously, I loved this movie so much even before actually seeing it and understanding it.

It's always great when the next generation discovers a classic. Beetlejuice is one of those movies that is truly unique, & has withstood the test of time. I was but a lad when I saw it in the theater...always liked it. If no one's told you yet, there was a spinoff cartoon with Beetlejuice & Lydia Deetz as the main characters...it's cute, funny & slightly creepy all at the same time. YT has plenty of clips. You're welcome. *"We've come for your daughter, Chuck."*

Michael McDowell, the writer, was an insane genius. (He also wrote The Nightmare Before Christmas.) His original script for BJ was _very_ R-rated, and *much* stranger, if you can believe that.

Michael McDowell also wrote some horror novels. Cold Moon Over Babylon in particular is a great book.

One of my childhood favorites! I was born in 1980, so I was 8 when this came out, and I loved every minute of it. I was already a fan of Tim Burton's style because of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. "Talking Marcel Marceau statue" is pretty damn funny if you look up who that is.

I had Marcel Marceau’s Greatest Hits on vinyl. Classic collection! Everyone loved it. I’d crank the volume up all the way, and never got any noise complaints.

A lot of directors have an aesthetic that they use in their movies Tim Burton is one of those directors whose aesthetic is very prevalent throughout all of the movies he's done even in the Batman movies you can see that style come out. Which is why movies is an art form it's not just a form of storytelling it's also a form of art too and it's actually the best way to expose that kind of art....

You kept saying "weird". That's what one gets in Tim Burton movies, usually along with awesome. Burton may not have invented weird, but he certainly took it to levels no one before him had ever dreamed of...

25:05 as Otho is reanimating their bodies, time is starting to affect the physical form because they've been dead for so long. If they die twice they will become lost souls and you've seen that room that's why I'm so dangerous... They could be lost for eternity completely separated from each other in the lost souls room this is where souls go to die....

I've always felt like it was Juno's fault that the Maitlands let Beetlejuice out as she pretty much told them how to contact him. It's kind of like being told not to hire a builder that is terrible and then be given the phone number.

If she didn't tell them, they might've said his name three times without thinking about it and let him out unknowingly, which would've been even worse. Then they wouldn't know how to put him back.

A couple of fan facts: Beetlejuice was actually far worse in one of the original drafts. He was also supposed to be a demon And his main goal was Lydia all along. To the point he was sexual predator level obsessed. There is a fan theory that Lydia actually died after all on the way home from school she just doesn't realize it yet.
