My grandfather talked about how he and some of his old hunting buddies would hunt together in the woods. The youngest of them was in their 50s, and most of the group was reaching their elderly years. Hunting in a group helped ensure they could get help if they got hurt. It was getting time for the guys to meet up at their meeting place and one guy didn't show. So they went to where he said he was going to be hunting. They found him sitting on the ground with his back against a stump. He was watching an open area for deer when he passed away peacefully, rifle still in hand.

My Father died recently at 96. He was sharp as a tack right up til the end. One Tuesday afternoon, he was feeling tired, so he said, "I feel like a nap," and that was it. Somewhere in his nap, he went home, and the greatest man I would ever know was gone on to the next place. He was my idol for over 50 years. Nothing I will ever do in this life will make me a better man than he was. He was my Superman. I feel bad for people who didn't have a good father. Mine was absolutely perfect. I still talk to him when I'm alone. I love you, Dad!

My great grandfather passed away 2 months before his 99th birthday. That man was still there mentally, his body had just failed him. Remember seeing him the night before he went on. Brought him and grandma Arby's (that roast beef was his favorite) and we talked for about 2 hours. Ill never forget when i told him that I'd see him next week. His response, "You may be waiting a minute on that, but ill see you next time. I love you". RIP Pa

As a member of a search team I was looking for this old man who didn’t return home last night. He went out the previous very cold evening to gather his few goats from the forest near his village. He was over 90yo. Of his 8 children one still lived in the village. They all had told him to sell the animals he always had through life. He sold about 100 but kept 4 goats. He and lots of people of his generation feel useless if they just live on pension. I found him on a steep part of a path, leaning on a tree. He stopped to catch his breath, it was his last ones. Everyone was sad, but then we lifted our eyes from the ground and looked around. Beautiful forest and beautiful views. Great way to go.

I was actually going to quit about 4-ish months in because I hated the job, but the only reason I decided to stay was because I knew the residents often had nothing to do but wait everyday, and if I could brighten their day or just put a smile on their face, that's all I need. Ended up staying long enough to get a job I didn't hate doing, but like I said, I would end up coming home everyday feeling depressed knowing this is what millions of elders go through everyday just waiting to die.

Many years ago there were 6 in my hunting group. One year the group of men who always bivouaced 3-4 miles away came to ask us for help find a missing member. We assisted and finally found him like this. That group broke up after that but we adopted one of their members the only one older than me. Very next year he was late. We knew where to look and found him sitting against a tree. As 4 of us walked up to him he woke and said very apologetically that was just the way he hunted. My group broke up that year. Everyone dreams of a noble and dramatic death but in reality we want our loved ones near. As for me I still wander the woods and desert as much as I can. My family knows and understand if I am blessed with the solitude and peace of tall trees, green grass and clean air then my heavenly father granted me the last item on my bucket list.

One of my aunts lost her husband in a car crash (RIP uncle Ruben) she never remarried she focused on raising her son who today’s an attorney and a restaurateur in Tulum, and in her career at the state department of education and as an organizer for our diocese. She had a witty sarcastic sense of humor till the end; she suffered several strokes in a short span and became a shell of herself, when she passed she was surrounded by most of our family, she went out peacefully, she just fell asleep surrounded by love. Rest in peace aunt Purificación I know you are with your star and my grandpa.

my buddy grew up without a father but had a neighbor with no kids who took quite a liking to him and taught him everything he could from welding, wrenching, dirt bike riding ect. It was tradition for them every day to go out into the woods and get some wood. One day my buddy decided not to go because of reasons and hours later his neighbors wife called him saying he never came home. My buddy trumped out into the woods and went to the area where they usually get wood and he found him just like that. My buddy still blames himself
