As a diesel guy who lives in an emissions compliant area, you guys are awesome. One of the things that quickly started turning me off to diesel was the responses to questions online about modifications without deleting. Every forum is the same. Question-have a problem/I want to upgrade. Response-delete. But I live in an emissions required area Response-move It gets depressing seeing people so short sighted. I’m not saying the emissions crap is good, but it’s required. And I like where I live. You guys offer the best stuff for us who don’t have the luxury of deleting. And considering how emissions have been getting stricter, your work will be much more widespread.

Never understood the whole moving thing. It doesn’t seem reasonable to put effort (and money) into moving just because you can’t install some truck parts. And what if you like your place of living?

Just an FYI here Nick , California Trucks ( Duramax powered at least ) got EGR systems as early as 2002 ( I have an LB-7 of that year) in my truck & it has one . Thankfully it’s NOT given me any issues in my almost 22 years of ownership so far . I DID have to replace the vacuum pump 2 years ago that has a connection hose to the EGR diaphragm that controls it’s open & closed cycles , but other than a check engine light that came on when vacuum signal was lost (. Thank God for Internet forums ) I was able to figure it all out & replaced pump. Thanks for all you post buddy . I’m curious to see what my intake looks like inside some day , but until I need to tear into my engine for some reason I’m leaving well enough alone !! 🤞😎👍

So we are trying to reduce nox because it make bad ozone in a troposphere and ozone is heavier then air so it won't go into the stratosphere, right? But CFCs are several times heavier then air and the EPA says it goes to the stratosphere because of winds and jet streams... idk I'm not saying they are wrong but I have questions I guess no one else has asked.

How do EGR valves look after a truck has had it turned off/closed for over 50k miles or so?.
@robwalters9695
@robwalters9695 4 года назад
Just pulled a egr and intake manifold off of a 2016 Powerstroke, all stock with 50k on it for maintenance. Completely sorted up with a 1/4” off soot inside the intake plenums.... absolutely worst thing a diesel could have on it. Not gonna change my mind since my 5.9 grid heater is completely clean and looks almost new with 260k on it. Truck runs just as clean as a new truck unless I rip on it. Also DEF is processed urea and creates extremely toxic emissions when burned much more toxic than NOX emissions and that’s been scientifically proven.... ya know when the vehicle goes into regen. Not to mention the added fuel consumption that these emission create by nurturing these trucks. It’s truly a shame what’s happening to diesels, they used to be reliable longevity fuel efficient machines... EPA gets their claws in the mix and now they are far from reliable and extremely inefficient. 6 MPG towing in stock form!?! Really. No thanks I’ll keep my 5.9 without any of that stuff that runs clean, reliable, fuel efficient, not being fed it’s own SH$T and will actually last.

This is good to see. I am personally someone who will keep the emissions systems on my truck if I go to buy one. It's illegal to remove them, which means any LEO could pull me over and flag me for it at any time if they really wanted to. It may not happen often, but it can. However I think I will just go for an older model truck with just an EGR and get BulletProofDiesel parts on it (when it comes to emissions system equipped trucks).

When I pull the egr off my truck last summer( I’m in Canada) my egr valves, coolers and piping looked like that also with 400t km on it. But the Y bridge and intake ports going into the head is where it was built up and the valve ports were almost clogged right off. Not sure how it could make any power at all.

Any oil Analysis? Is there any harm done long term by having emissions intact?
@Duramaxtuner
@Duramaxtuner 4 года назад
Honestly, we are all stuck with emissions intact regardless if it did shorten the total life of these trucks. What we can say, is that after 80K hard miles, this system isn't showing any signs of premature wear and tear. I really am not sure how long term of testing would need to be done. If this is how it looks at 80K miles of abuse (more abuse than any normal person would put their truck through) I would say that is all the long term testing i personally need.

I have an ‘18 Ram that lost the DEF pump and the SCR at around 34k. All combined it was close to a $4000 dollar fix, all under warranty but still, this emissions equipment is too expensive. I have 58k on it now and if an emissions related part fails again, it’s all coming off. One of you creative companies needs to produce some less expensive emissions replacement parts or build us some serviceable (cleanable) parts that don’t just fail and require a loan to swap out. The nice thing about it not being on the truck anymore means I don’t have to replace it anymore. We can’t afford it.

The engine would be much more reliable without dumping exhaust gas into it, as it add more wear to the valves, piston, cylinders plus oil dilution & air dilution in the combustion chamber.. Then again, most every gearhead knows that.

Don't git us wrong, if EGR's were optional, we would opt out. In reality the EGR isn't going anywhere any time soon. We figure it is better to learn about it and focus on how to keep it reliable instead of just ripping it off and risking huge fines.
