@Sprocket's Garage I was referred over to you about a transaxle issue. I have rust divots and one is a sizable one. I did polish the axle so the burrs are gone but one spot is 3/8 long by 2-3mm wide and to deep to polish out. this is on a peerless 930. I will be adding bearings so if you know the size I can order that's be awesome! but how would I fill this divot so that it doesn't have the ability to score the aluminum case? I am rebuilding the whole simplicity 5211 and this is not the original peerless but was in it when I bought it along with about 2 quarts of water in it. I was able to save everything from rust divots except the axles as I think that was how the water was coming in as the last person didn't add gasket maker to the casing.(and had the bevel gear backwards....)
Where is the pitting on the axle? As I'm trying to picture it, it wouldn't much matter as far as hurting the case castings, because with the addition of the shaft bearings, there should be no shaft to case contact. If you watch my Doc Locker 2.0 video and scroll down to the video description, I believe I have a bearing listed that will likely work. That said, take some measurements. Peerless has used 2 different bearing bores in their case halves, and some of them will even accept both sizes.
