Hi! What could be wrong with the Peerles 700 5 speed When the machine is running, it doesn't go overboard and shake the gear stick What could be wrong and where can I get parts ordered in Finland?
HI, the best diff lock i have seen anywhere, i have an old JD 180 Powershift with a, i think a Peerless Transaxle with a JD part number AM104533 i think, firstly i am in the UK and how can i get one of your kits to suit my lawn tractor. Thanks in advance
Hi there! I don't sell kits but if you look around, you'll probably find what you need. The hub is something you'd find in a place that sells agricultural equipment and supplies. We get them from places like Tractor Supply or Princess Auto. Worst case, you can probably order online but I'd wager you have similar places. Same for the shaft lock collars.
I’ve finally took the time to give you a shout out. I’ve missed your videos in a manly way. Enjoyed it and I hope the garden tractor mods and improvements I watch them over and over. Don’t take so long with the next one.any thing. Wish y’all well from Alabama
i drove one of those once for a delivery job i had, coming back to the shop empty i decided to see if the van would lite em up. an oh yea that tire smoke was flowing like a freight train LOL. then a few months later the frame on the rear leaf spring broke and the leaf spring almost went through the floor and that was the end of that van, owner didnt want to spend $ to fix it LOL
Glad to see you are still making videos! I’ve been watching since the old days where you were installing lockers for mud mowers. Awesome stuff. Any plans on getting any mud mower videos? “Will it run?” videos are cool too. Take care.
Thank you! As I have mentioned before, a lot of my mud mower fire kinda got extinguished when Lawn Gone passed away. I think I'm not done completely, but lacking passion. So, that's why you see that I've done some different stuff in the last few videos... But thank you for your loyalty and I will do what I can!
Nice to see you still around messing around with old stuff. Honestly wasn't expecting a video today, but its a good one. Hope life is treating you well up their in Canada!
Glad to see you back! I'm currently working on turning a 1986 Dodge B150 van into a derby van. 318, 727, and I may add that I am painting it as accurately as possible to resemble the POSSUM VAN. Cheers Doc
There actually wasn't much at all. I did the "few hours later" for laughs. After the first slow cranking shown, I hooked a booster pack right to the starter, hit the key and it spun good. So, we fired the camera back up and the first attempt with gasoline was what you saw next.
@gearhead9943 I'd love to! We're gonna revisit the van in a few weeks and attempt to drive it home. I was planning on talking to the owner of the yard and seeing if he minds me doing a couple "old start" attempt videos in the future.
@@DocSprocket perfect! Please film it like this one, it was so cool watching him try to start it. I love watching carbureted cold starts and seeing the pumping and cranking. It’s something new cars just don’t get lol
I'll take your word for it. That's what I was told, and nobody has any idea what might have been changed along the way. Any idea what year it actually is based on what you saw?
I'll try to keep from writing an essay... lol The reason that lawn and garden equipment, tractors, industrial equipment etc has a governor is to hold a set engine speed through varying loads. It is not a true statement to say that a governor is a rev limiter. It does that too, but that's not the primary job. Imagine you're mowing your lawn with a good old fashioned push mower. The engine is buzzing along, doing a fine job. Then, you walk into a thick patch of grass over the septic bed. All of a sudden, the grass is much longer and thicker, so the load on the engine increases dramatically. The governor responds to the RPM beginning to drop and opens up the throttle blade more, to try to maintain the ideal cutting RPM. Getting out of that patch, the load decreases so the governor closes the throttle down, some. Now, you're walking into the part where the sun has baked the lawn and the grass really didn't grow since last week. With the load severely reduced, the engine would absolutely overspeed- if the governor didn't sense the decreased load and close the throttle down some more. Etc. Throttle position doesn't directly corellate to RPM- load is a big factor. With nothing to control RPM, you could blow a mower engine at 1/4 throttle, if there's no load on it. At the same time, trying to drive your tractor up a steep hill with only 1/4 throttle could even stall it out. So to recap- the governor's job is to try to maintain a selected RPM through varying loads. Hope that helps.
@@DocSprocket for what it’s worth, it was a Briggs v twin 27 hp engine. The sump bolts had rattled loose and the gasket deformed. I pulled the engine and replaced the gasket and bolts with an upgraded version of both. Everything was great for a few hours of mowing. The next mow, after another few hours, it started revving wide open. I pulled the engine again and found the governor weights broken in pieces. Thankfully while I waited for the new parts to arrive, I read a thread that said sometimes the pressed in pin that the governor gear rotates on can pull out if the gear seizes to the pin. The pin was indeed unseated a few millimeters, but still very tight, so I tapped it back in. I assume the oil got low at some point and that’s what happened. I hope this helps someone.
So sorry about your friend doc. Just found your channel this week when looking up ways to wire my Murray project and absolutely fell in love with fugazi I was bummed to hear you lost that fire. I hope Chris puts another amazing human in your path to bring that fire back. Cheers from the garden state!
I've owned one for 6 years and have had very few problems with it. They are exceptional machines as you've pointed out considering their age. I doubt there are many original (unrebuilt) examples of other brands from that era. BTW, I need to order a PTO belt and the only belts they show are 63-66 inches long. When looking at the installed original belt It looks a lot longer than that. Do you know what the legnth of the PTO belt it takes is?
Howdie wondering if ya could save those parts ya through away cause use them for my bead roller ya got great ideas if ya have the cash but l,m poor old guy using every thing to make stuff for my friends l,m just a hoarder guessing that ya Don,t through it out the door cause you might need it tomorrow and that diff is strong enough cause l put it on my son,s v8 garden tractor chevy 350 automatic 😊boy does it fly like the wind Crampsman tractor needed to modify the frame a tweet ha ha thks for sharing joined for adventure got it from Canada 🇨🇦 Sk later keep them😊 coming ok
I. have a 3813 It will not go forwards or backwards when I put it in gear. From what I can see, the belt looks ok. the break pedal I'am not sure about it does not go up/down freely. Please Help.
Belt doesn't matter, it's shaft drive. Look for a shock absorber looking thing near the front of the transmission/clutch. It might be stuck. Try disconnecting it.
I have a honda 3813. Ran good. All of a sudden it would not go forward, or reverse. Same as the red one in. the middle. the break pedal will not engage. How. say you?
I've had the damper stick before. Start there. Try detaching it completely, and see what happens. Note: If everything else is working properly, clutch engagement will be abrupt and you'll have to slip it like a normal clutch.
I can't find the transmission clutch. Is it under the seat? It looks like some kinda shock is under there. Seen the disconnect on Frank. Don't think the same on one in the middle. Please Help
Watching how you replaced the differential with a solid axle may have solved my problem of how to install hydraulic brakes on my racing mower. Very much appreciated sir!
And mine has a square space between the spider and pin with a half circle space for the pin ... Worked out good though just squared off my 2.5 inch hub to fit
If you had spiders, a pin, and a square space- you don't have a 2317 so this video wouldn't really have been relevant. But, it sounds like other ideas I've floated, managed to come into play. Good job!
At last..an intelligent guy who get his hands dirty...There are videos on youtube that shows the diode current flows going TO the ignition packs..with band marking on the diodes pointing to the magento side instead of the kill switch side... ie diode bands should be AWAY from the magnetos... I have been trying to figure it coz it didn't seem right, , but you have it right
I'm not sure. I'm kind of on a break and pursuing other hobbies and interests at the moment. There's things I still want to do, though- so I wouldn't say I'm gone for good. Thanks for asking!
I'm from Peterborough there was one sold in a auction in a new in a crate along with a complete sled I can't remember exactly but was before covid its cool this stuff is floating around we had omc in Peterborough I think a lot of stuff went out the back door
@kemc2724 Man, that's cool. I got mine off Marketplace, had to drive down to Toronto for it. Wasn't in a crate or anything. Showed signs of age, but not use. I still haven't put it in anything, but I was thrilled to get it running off that boat CDI.
Excellent Video. And finding this when I did is perfect timing as I am in the process of rebuilding the transmission in my Craftsman LT2000 riding lawnmower. I will definitely be doing this modification. I'm a mechanic and Machinist by trade so this is right up my alley and makes perfect sense. Thank you for posting, I subscribed to your channel and plan on checking out Facebook for your page. Thanks again.
Hi, Steve! Please post pics/vids of your progress. I'd love to see this properly machined, instead of being hacked together with an angle grinder! Lol I might also suggest broaching a secong keyway into the hub bore and the shaft, for an even stronger mechanical lock- something I could not do with my limited tools. Thank you!
@DocSprocket Ho Doc. I can relate to what you mean but I admit with limited amount of tools you did an excellent job. Watching your video I was thinking about how to machine everything. I've done a lot of transmissions over the years, mostly motorcycle stuff, Harleys and a few Triumphs and they are very similar with the exception of the differential part. But what you figured out is genius and solves a lot of problems for not very much money, a win win for people. The only part I'm not familiar with is the hub and where to get it. Thanks again and I will post plenty of pictures once I begin. I joined your Facebook page.
@@stevevaal1322 I sure appreciate the kind words. I got mine at Princess Auto. You could maybe try Tractor Supply, but it all depends on where you live.
@DocSprocket Your welcome, I was a CNC Macinist for 38 years before retirement. Now I like to take on cool projects like this. I can tell that you have a great knowledge of what your doing which why I am so impressed with the first video I found this morning so I had to subscribe. We have a Tractor Supply here in town, I live In Southern New Hampshire
Awesome lawn tractor. The exhaust sounds great. I noticed that you made lots of lawn tractor and go-kart rebuild video. Hipa happend to suplies DIYers with high quality after-market small engine parts and I'm wondering are you up for a collaboration? Maybe we would work together to help more people in the community by sharing more tips on small engine repair and rebuild and I'm more than happy to help you with the parts you need.
