What’s your experience been with dieting? Have you considered giving it up, if you haven’t already?

Dieting made me miserable. I just regained what I lost and it came back twice as much. Thank you so much for this. This changed my life

The topic is good, many people can relate to it but you’re also really fun to watch

I loved this. I’m currently in the worst shape of my life and it is really just a point of a serious lack of confidence and control and overwhelming feelings that I don’t even know where to begin. Listening to you it felt like you understand. I literally cannot count calories or macros any more. It makes me sick. I’ve been a some form of diet control since I was 14 and it’s become a trigger for me. I honestly don’t know what to do. Thank you for this video. I felt understood and a little less insane.

Kimber. I hope you know that we are ALL in the same boat. The bs that’s been fed to all of us - DOES NOT WORK. I have a “what i eat in a day video” that is not at all a what I eat in a day but more so a how I approach food now. Still unlearning bad habits caused by restriction but think that video may help, too. You. Are. Not. Alone. Sending love your way and a big hug.

I do think it's a bit divine that I found your channel!! 💕 All my life I was excited about self improvement but after I turned 41 I just kinda lost some drive. I still go through the motions, working out, working for myself, vaguely thinking about goals sometimes, etc but I care less and that makes me depressed. Your channel is giving me some sparkle back! ✨ Thank you 🤗 Excited to see all of your content, love your presentation and topics.

Thank you for sharing this. I turned 45 recently and noticed how everything is just different now. I’m needing to take better care of myself. I really appreciate your insights!

I agree 100% with everything you just said. I feel such comfort knowing I’m not crazy. I’ve been stuck for so long trying intuitive eating and Karen Koenig’s book was the perspective I needed. I am so glad you were able to make peace with food and are a “normal” eater. I just started my recovery from disordered eating using her book and watching you I am hopeful that I can be a “normal” eater too.

Thank you so much for this video! I know it’s old, but what you said is so true! I also used to binge eat and since starting TAM I am so much more in tune with my body- even my eating habits! It’s amazing.

Thank you so much. It’s so nice to hear that the prep shows and pays off. Having only done this for a handful of months you can see a dramatic difference in the videos and production quality, alone 😂. I figure the value of content is what’s most important so hopefully people can look past some of the growing pains 🙈

New to your channel and the book you discuss seems intriguing most especially on the point of achieving fullness vs satisfaction. I just watched another video a few days ago discussing that satiation has both a physicial and emotional component. This was so eye opening for me since, being an emotional eater, I had only tied "emotional satisfaction" as a negative component to food consciousness. Coincidentally, the day after watching that video I had a particular meal that truly left me feeling emotionally satisfied bc I ate exactly what I wanted and I was shocked that I didn't have this urge to eat anymore, despite how tasty I found the meal to be. I've now watched two of your videos on the TA method, after also watching Busbee's videos and love the idea of lean muscle building and investing in a workout that will be kinder to my aging bones and joints. Thank you so much for all this info!

Isn’t it AMAZING how there are times when it’s as if the universe tees up the info you need??? This is all still a work in progress for me, as expected. Just yesterday, I was in my pantry, snacking mindlessly - on the verge of binging - and I had to say OUT LOUD to myself, “Rachel, you’re not hungry! What are you? Bored! This isn’t what you want!” There’s a podcast I listed to yesterday from the “Blonde Files” that was on this topic, divinely found it after that self awareness moment of mine. And everything the host Ariel said I was thinking “Yes! That’s exactly how I feel!” So highly recommend that. In general, Ariel is very likeable and authentic which I think we can all appreciate. Thank you for your comment. So happy for you that you are finding these major discoveries. For me, it’s been like finding the key to get me out of my own prison!

@@RundownwithRachel funny that you use the word prison. I have struggled with disordered eating and body dysmorphia since my teens. I recently had a conversation with a plus sized family member of mine and was telling her that eating mostly WFPB has been the ONLY way to get passed the mental calorie counting that I enslave myself to otherwise. Furthermore, despite eating mostly WFPB, I STILL feel instant regret when I indulge in something not WFPB and it's truly a personal prison. My biggest goal in life is to break out of my mental prison.

@@gianninal5455 there are FEW people I know that don’t have some type of body/food issue history. I don’t know how anyone can live through the social media culture without falling into it. It truly is a prison. Clearly I still have struggles, but every small step is a step in the right direction. Every time you eat without feeling held back by calorie counting is a WIN! I’ve realized that I will make a mountain out of small set backs and trivialize small moves forward. Trying to do the opposite these days.

This is an excellent video! I KNOW this method works. And I KNOW it brings freedom. I lost over a hundred pounds eating this way and literally, you couldn’t have PAID me to binge. When I got pregnant, I had a lot of sour stomach and the hunger/fullness mechanism stopped working. It has just been the BIGGEST battle (that I’m failing!) trying to get back. Once your metabolism is effed up, honestly, it’s like I’m STARTING to eat when I’m at the satisfied stage and STOPPING when I’m stuffed. Recalibrating my signals feels literally painful. And since food has become my world again 😡 and since I’ve got a bunch of kids and can’t 1) stay away from the kitchen when not hungry or 2) do the other non-food things I enjoy when I get the urge to eat, it’s just been HARDD. I’m not giving up. I refuse! But so far I haven’t been able to get to the stage where I’m floating in freedom (vs. constantly telling myself I’m not hungry-or trying to convince myself I AM truly hungry. I’d appreciate any advice you have for someone needing to completely turn the ship around. Also, I LOVE the part of the video when you’re eating. Still laughing. P.S. When I was really thin and eating this way, I didn’t need much to eat at all… I have a slow metabolism. But I ENJOYED my food so much more than I did when I’d eat crazy quantities. And yet, I can’t get my 💩 together!

Lindie. I can tell you and I would get along GREAT! I have tried SO MANY THINGS to get out of the cycle and although I have come SO FAR I still have struggles especially when I don’t get enough sleep, eat artificial sugar (even gum makes me want to make sweet love to food), workout too much - things I’ve learned over time. The things that have made the biggest difference: - The book “The rules of “Normal” eating” - it’s something I reread and relisten to - it’s THAT good. - Listen to guided meditation that’s intended for binging, weight loss etc. - Focus on sleep over anything else. I’ve cut back on coffee, try not to have wine close to bed etc. - Most important - focus on your wins, and learn from your set backs. Something tells me you are hard on yourself! Don’t be! It’s makes it worse and harder despite what we may think (for me anyhow) Know you are not alone. You are far from a failure. There are so many things designed to keep us in a cycle - it’s not you. But these things have been a tremendous help for me and I hope they help you, too ❤️ Sending so much love your way. The ups and downs (mostly downs) BLOW!

Hey Rachel, In terms of honor when you are hungry I have 2 questions: 1) what happens if I hardly experience hunger? I usually have coffee with a good amount of cream in the morning and lots of lemon water. I will not feel hungry usually until 12 or 1 pm. Then I usually have my biggest meal, but it’s probably around only 400 calories. I will have another meal between 6/7:30. But that is usually it for the day. And i exercise too. But overall i feel like my calories are too restricted to see results. So what do i do if i don’t want to eat when i am not hungry? 2) the one exception is that sometimes i experience hunger before bed. Not extreme but a mild discomfort, but I don’t want to eat right before bed. Should I be doing something different?

Hi Atallah! Have you always had a minor appetite? Do you get much activity in the day? I do notice that when I’m working at my desk all day my appetite is minimized.
