Charlene (Janet Jackson) runs away from home after a fight with her father, so the Drummonds (Conrad Bain, Todd Bridges, Gary Coleman and Dana Plato) offer her to stay with them.

She wanted to portray Dorothy Dandridge in a movie but Halle Berry beat her to it. Conversely, Halle told Todd Bridges she hated Janet because she got to be with him on-screen. I guess the DD role plus the Emmy that came with it was Halle's revenge.

No lol Control was released in 86.this was 83,she was right in the middle of working on her second album Dream Street when this episode aired and this was her final season on Different Strokes.
