What I am doing now is omad with a little bit of sweet stuff thrown in at the very end a biscuit or whatever and I am doing very fine indeed. Of course , everything that i eat fits into 1h max and i stay on top of my fats and veggies

I came across Dr. Bergs channel back in September 2018, and watched closely to learn and understand Keto diet. I started Keto on 10/01/18 and today 1/13/19 I've lost 42 pounds. I'm averaging 2-3 pounds a week with no exercise. I drink apple cider vinegar and lemon juice first thing in the mornings and once in the evening as I prepare my meal. I eat either a piece of Steak, Salmon, Sausage, or chicken breast for meat. Plus 3 either fried or scrambled eggs each meal. Lots of both steamed and raw vegetables and a 2-3 oz piece of cheese. Plus about a table spoon of the healthy kind of mixed nuts,. Trust me it looks like a meal fit for a King! I only eat one meal a day, around 5:00 PM. I drink a bottle of mineral water for my lunch, and either green tea, or a cup of coffee for breakfast. I drink water during the day only if I'm feeling thirsty. I also add Miralax to my morning drinks, to help me be regular. My family and friends are amazed at how much weight I've been able to loose. Trust me when I say I'm extremely thankful for Dr. Bergs videos, and recommend it to everyone to watch and learn as I did on how to loose weight, feel great, and regain your health. If your really wanting to loose weight, feel great, and regain your health then study what Dr. Bergs lays out, and implement it like I did. You will not regret you did. When I first heard about only eating once a day, I thought I could never do that. It turns out it has been very easy to do for me, and plus the money I save I can use to buy better quality pieces of fish or cuts of meat to cook and still be ahead. I make a red vinegar wine, olive oil, avocado oil, and MTC coco nut salad dressing. Plus cook with coco nut oil, the solid kind. Thanks Dr. Berg! Your hard efforts studying all of this stuff and then educating people like me has worked out to be a true blessing in my life. Keep up the great work!

LYNDA DE LEON I take a small container and add my seasoning. Things like salt, coarse ground pepper, garlic salt, and a vegetable seasoning mix. Really you can just combine your own desired seasoning to taste. Then I measure one each table spoon of olive oil, avocado oil, MCT coco nut oil, and red wine vinegar into the container. I mix it all up and pour it over my salad. Then after I finish my salad if there is anything left in the bottom of the bowl I drink it. It's usually not much, but hey no use letting anything go to waist. I love this way of eating, and for the amount of food I'm eating without exercising I can't believe the amount of weigh I'm loosing. It's a miracle. And if everyone began following this way of eating it would definitely change the health of our nation and change the ways our shelfs are being stocked at the grocery stores. You shouldn't need a laxative. You don't want to become dependent on one. Try supplementing with magnesium glycinate and vitamin C. Your body actually really needs those, and they help keep things moving along. Congrats on the progress!

That’s awesome! I’ve struggled with acne for 17 years and it all went away when I started Keto and IF along with DIM supplement. Dr. Berg has changed my life!

@snkchrmr I never heard of sardines or anchovies growing up lol. But I’m also not big on seafood. I remember as a kid my mom would lie to me & tell me I was being served chicken when it was fried fish but I knew it wasn’t chicken 😅

There actually ARE carbs in meat, however the US food labeling laws allow them to be rounded down to zero. Animals have muscle glycogen stores just like humans.

You can definitely lose fat doing low carbs, if you only eat 50 grams of carbs or less per day.

@@johnmiller7612 the Keto diet with intermittent fasting allowed me to lose weight as a post menopausal woman. The low carb diet at 50 carbs a day allowed me to gain weight slowly over the years. I’m a so elated about this Keto diet.

When Dr Berg bangs his marker on the white board you know he`s serious folks. PS :guys skip the whey protein , go with hemp protein I use 100% Tasmanian Hemp Protein powder from HEMP X , this stuff is awesome for muscle growth and recovery after training !

I don't count my macros especially the carbs. But I eliminated all processed foods (i.e. processed meats, grains, and sugary drinks) in my diet. I already lost the 30 lbs that I want last August. Even though I'm just trying to maintain my weight my belly still shrinking very very slowly. I consider it a cheat day when I eat a bowl of chili beans at Costco because I assume the carbs from the mixed beans is probably more than 20g. Eating healthy foods + IF, I was able to get rid of my a year old NAFLD.

So is it ok to just eat yellow and orange bell pepper with 3 oz Greek yogurt for lunch, roasted broccoli or asparagus for dinner, and 1/2 serving mixed nuts for snack? Black coffee and water as desired. With 18 hours intermittent fasting daily. A couple of ounces of poached chicken also.

If you are in ketosis, that is 900 calories of fat and about the same as a carb burner eating 900 calories from sugar. Eating a stick of butter is a very bad idea for somebody eating a high carb diet, just like eating 900 calories of sugar is a very bad idea for someone eating a ketogenic diet.

This is very gross to me. You are losing out on a well balanced Keto diet. Fat in this amount of quantity is NOT healthy Keto whatsoever. Dr. Berg would likely never recommend this, ever!

Dr. Berg, heavy/whole cream does have a small amount carbs in it. That should be in your low carb category. Also with seafood, the sea creatures like mussels and clams do have carbs in them. I don't know why exactly. I'm assuming its from what they eat. Plain unflavored mussels can have a surprising amount of carbs actually.

I wanna lose fat without losing any muscles, what should I do ? Low carb or zero carb ? Keep in mind I’m very active at the gym 6 times week I got 42kg of muscles and 16 % fat A lot have told me go by degrees every week in carbs till you reach the bottom

I have such bad sugar/carb addiction that I cannot eat mayonnaise or ranch dressing or berries without craving sugar. I am also on a lot of meds for mental health issues, and one in particular was known by researchers to be highly likely to cause diabetes. I experience insane cravings for sugar and carbs after I take this medication. My doctor did not tell me this would happen on this medication. Unfortunately alt native medications were not effective in controlling my symptoms, so I am stuck with this one. In spite of it all, I have managed to lose 30 lbs. but I have had a pretty hard fall off the wagon. Depression continues to be an ongoing struggle for me, and for years I medicated that with sugar. I'm going to get back on keto, and this time I will eat no berries, no Love Good Fats bars, no ranch dressing, no berries, no mayonnaise unless I can find a recipe that doesn't call for sugar. I will have to say no to even stevia. Any little bit of sweet taste throws me off. I have to remember my initial reason for starting keto was to completely eliminate sugar from my diet. I have forgotten that, and have been trying to see what I can get away with, and it has thrown me completely off course.

I am diabetic..type 2..and have learned more from Dr Berg than my doctor. I am doing 16.8 intermittent fasting. My energy has improved and I have not had a 'hypo' in 9 months. I consume 2 coffees with double cream for breakfast which satiates me without breaking my fast. It's so easy to get into!

U might wanna try matcha tea w lemon juice instead. Matcha is an unmatched antioxidant superfood. Mixed w lemon juice multiplies its absorption. And has less caffeine than coffee.

Started on 16:8 and quickly found it too filling, been on 20:4 for 60 days and moving towards OMAD after 100 days. Had to cut back the meds due to higher hypoglycemic events.

Laughed out loud when you assumed most people werent eating a whole cup of nuts.........*guilty*🤣 Macadamia nuts are my guilty 'non-secret'. I am down to half a scoop a fortnight now but last year I struggled not to buy them. 🤣

Am I the only one that want the old watermelon?? The old wheat? The old banana? The old but gold We can restrict less foods if we get the old stuff.. We changed the food to be more and more sweet.. so we can't get antioxidants because the sugar is too high in the new versions🤐 I think we can get the old grains 🤔 don't we? If not.. I have cut down on carbs. ... I am doing IF for 20 hrs. I have a coffee ( with a couple of tablespoons of milk) . I sometimes take a multi vitamin or vitamin d & calcium tablet as I am a vegetarian. ( only take it due to a vitamin b12 defiency in the past ) I have given up on all sugars including sweetners and fruits & have completely lost my very sweet tooth. I cycle 25 miles a day . and keep hydrated with plenty of water. I also use some light free weights to tone my arms and do a lot of stretching. I have my " breakfast " at around 4pm which is eggs and tomato on a toasted multi seeded bread using olive oil spread and a couple of cups of tea and a small cup of mixed nuts and seeds. I then have my normal meal at around 7ish with a glass of acv/ lemon juice / cranberry juice and water followed by a carrot, which helps keep me regular. In the 3 months I have been doing this, I've lost about 16kg ( 35 pounds ) feel great. I can now wear clothing that I haven't worn for 20 + yrs, mainly shorts and tshirts. coffee with milk will absolutely break ur fast. u should switch over to heavy cream if u havent already. will still break ur fast, but much better for u.

It always puzzles me. Is keto diet really good for general people’s health in the long run? Has any statistics shows it increase a person’s longevity? Japanese eat eat a fire amount of carbs, but have the longest living. Keto May be a good choice for overweight people in short time, for long run, not quite sure. :(

To me; if low carbs are good no carbs are better... There are no essential carbs... Stop worrying about ketones because the longer you are in ketosis the fewer you will see circulating! If you are burning them for fuel you won't have a lot circulating in your blood and I consider checking you ketones only by drawing blood, all other ways are just BS... Also if you are very active you will see fewer ketones in your blood, mine drop substantially after exercising. (because if you are fat adapted you will be using them for fuel).

Sort of agree. I've been on Keto 6+ years, and even for me, moving from keto to zero carb or carnivore is a big change. I really do not think it is a good idea for most people to just move directly from a high carb diet to zero carb, or OMAD, or extended fasting, but some people can.

I found urine test strips for ketones very helpful when I was starting out as I could see I needed to drop the carbs a bit more, a bit more, until I hit the sweet spot. I saw ketones build up then reduce - because I was burning them. The down side is they can no longer tell me if I am in ketosis - but for brand new people they are a cheap starting point.

For a normal healthy adults, balanced diet, moderate exercise and trying not to be stressed are probably the most important things to follow :) Strictly limitation and focusing one’s diet everyday itself is a big stress on a person’s health :)

Dr Berg or someone lol, I am on day 5 fasting. I'm all excited this morning, usual hunger pangs and when I tried eating, I was immediately feeling full. Forced myself to eat. Felt sick. Went light, tonight, just tried to force down a grass fed beef patty, no bread or anything on it and It was okay. But now I feel sick again. I'm so full. I really just dont want to eat. I'm sort of nervous I'll just stop eating.

I think Seafood is not always zero carbs. For example shellfish such as oysters or scallops. Also I never seen zero carb double cream. It is true?

I have been keto / low carb for about 4 months now. It’s been good. Just wish companies didn’t hide so much about their nutritional information. Lost about 81lbs. Man fast burning 🥵 sugar carbs had me messed up for years :(.

I find a moderate keto diet with moderate exercise works great for me. The pounds are falling off and I'm getting my washboard abs back 😁. I do have some sweets in the morning after I get out of bed and that's the only time for the rest of the day I'm really strict on my Keto but I still keep vegetables. it's not healthy to deprive yourself of the nutritions of vegetables yes lots of eggs and lots of meet

WARNING! UK (and EU) food labeling is different, the fibre has already been subtracted from the total carbs which is why unlike sugar it is not shown as a sub group of carbs. So if you're not American check which system your country uses. An easy way to find out is by looking at the nutrition lable of Brazil nuts, if the carb is higher than the fibre then you have the same system as UK and the subtraction has already been made.

Honestly, I eat 1/2 sweet potato every once in a while and I am fine with my weight loss. I find that I need to eat some good carbs once I get to certain weight because I keep losing weight if I don't. I don't want to be skin and bones as a woman!

Dr. Berg, I don't want to do ketosis, so is a low carb diet like Dr. Wolfgang Lutz recommended in his book "life without bread" still good? He recommended no more than 70 or less carbs a day. Would this amount help cancer? Thanks for your videos very informative, I always learn a lot.

Started with keto, but I've found that omad/zero carb works best for my weight loss. I notice an instant change - like all the excess water in my system is being sucked out. I used to eat 4-6 eggs for a meal with some sausage or bacon and a little cheese, but I always felt puffy and icky afterwards. Now I just stick to meat as my meal.

There have been a couple of scientific papers recently which showed that high protein in a normal diet lead to very substantial formation of glucose. However when subjects were in a "fasted" state (ie no food for 16 hours) they did not produce a significant insulin response. (ie limited gluconeogenesis.)

I don't think you need to prove this. Jillian Michaels doesn't know what she is talking about. A person who uses unhealthy methods of weight loss to 'help' people lose weight and knows better, cannot cast a stone at someone else. She doesn't understand the biochemistry of weight loss.

I was really looking for an in depth look in to eating only zero carbs from you. I did zero carbs for 3 months, blood sugars dropped from 400 range down to completely normal, my eye sight improved drastically, my chronic yeast infections dissapeared my energy levels was through the roof. (I was scrubbing walls and my mail box kinda energy) I also had mental clarity that was out of this world. I'm type 2nd, with Hypothyroidism and pcos, so I never lost any weight! Defeated I stopped and ate the sad diet for the next 3 years. I one month keto eating way more veggies along with some meat, eggs and only water, about 150 oz a day. Still no weight loss with about 100lbs to lose. I'm not noticing any difference with just healthy keto. I'm not hungry 24/7 is about the largest change I see, probably 1 out of 4 days I'm starving all night long no matter how much I eat. Which is an amazing improvement from sad. I also fast until 2pm. Again would like more information on eating zero carb? Should I eat more fat as I'm not hitting that macro goal, but with being so over weight I'd like to burn the fat I have already, so really confusing.

In my opinion, if you are taking your carbs through FIBERS, it's fine with me to as much as needed without scaling, they are beneficial for inside and outside your body. The problem in this era we live in is with the refined sugars and hidden sugars made in the labs and presented to be healthy. Some products are presented to be having no sugars, but they are " Poisoned " with so many hidden refined sugars. Stay RAW and you are good to go.

Especially the worst of the worst "High Fructose Corn Syrup",....most often hidden by listing it under different names,.. as consumers have become savvy to avoiding anything with HFCS listed!What a Mess!!

@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 - Same here. I thought 1 can of regular or diet soda a day is OK. I used to avoid fatty foods, and also tried to remove skins on fried chicken, and avoided salt. Did all that while on the SAD. Of course, following the SAD diet, we are bound to get sick sooner or later. Mine I became pre-diabetic and NAFLD. Luckily I found Dr. Berg's channel last year and followed his advice. It's about a year now that I'm following Dr. Berg's advice Get healthy to lose the weight. Nov 2018 was my annual medical checkup and I'm happy to say that I'm no longer pre-diabetic and also I was able to get rid of my fatty liver. The icing on the cake, I lost 30 lbs and 3" down on my waistline (from 33" to 30").

Good info Doc. but I feel you should be clarifying that net carbs is not always the method to follow for some people. Total carbs should be used for some people - I'm sure you know this and Dr Eric Westman of Duke university clinic IS THE CLINIC OF LAST RESORT for some who are so gravely ill that he turns their health around by teaching total carbs. Fibre can be an issue for some people. We are not all the same and I know you know that! Keep up the good work and remember to keep us others who need to use total carbs in the picture.

If you are a follower of Dr. Berg, you will know that he suggests this higher vegetable and hence higher total carb approach. He has recently modified his advice by saying not all people will do well with this higher total carb approach, and hence this video. To be fair, Dr. Westman's 20 Total carb approach is also not necessary for the majority of casual dieters watching RU-vid videos for their dietary and medical advice.

Ketosis is really not "fat burning." Ketosis is creating and maintaining ketone bodies in your bloodstream as a fuel source for your brain during periods of severe carbohydrate restriction. You still need to eat at a caloric deficit in order to lose net body fat on the ketogenic diet. Weight loss is not the same as fat loss. Lowering Insulin levels is indeed of paramount importance for many/most on this diet, however, some people can and do gain weight on an incorrectly formulated ketogenic diet. You can't simply "not count" vegetables and fool yourself into thinking you are eating a low carb ketogenic diet. If you choose the "correct" vegetables, etc. you may then be able to eat quite a lot, and confirm that you remain in ketosis via blood testing. Different people have wildly different reactions to even some low carb vegetables, hence the recent discussion of the "zero carb" or "carnivore" diet. Isopure whey protein powder has "zero" carbs, but is very expensive. 5:10 "The more you lower your carbohydrates, the more you go into ketosis." True, given your other comments about controlled protein, intermittent fasting, and similar overall calorie/energy intake.

Ketone bodies are formed as a result of fat burning, so ketosis is when you burn fat, wheter it s exogenous or endogenous. The benefit of a keto diet is that your calories that you put in have a different hormonal response than that of a normal diet(composed of 60-65% carbs for example) Insulin is spiked the most when you ingest carbohydrates, and as we all know, insulin stores everything, mostly in fat tissue but aswell in glycogen (when you have depletion of it) The down of a high carb diet is that insulin is decreasing the secretion of HGH=human growth hormone(they are inverse correlated) and HGH greatly promotes fat store depletion=catabolism of fat(wich produces ketone bodies) and aminoacid absorption& protein synthesis(wich translates to a increased muscle mass, if you train aswell=> increased metabolism because of that muscle mass) I dont know sincerley if you re right about the counting of vegetables or not..the logic in here is that vegetables in general are not so high in carbs(and almost 0 in the other 2 macros) but have huge ammounts of nutrients that your body needs, adding also the fact that veghies have fiber, so they will not spike the insulin..and the HGH secretion remains high through the day, BUT not every person knows what vegetables to eat that are low in carbs and rich in nutrients(for example some may eat a boiled corn, thinking it s a good vegetable)

Dr Berg doesn't count vegetable carbs. They are there, but they are a healthy carb that he recommends we consume to help flush out the liver. So, when he says no carbs, he's not including the vegetable carbs like the ones in kale and so forth.

I am on keto diet for my Type 2 diabetis, not to lose weight. I do not count my vegetables carbs as I am already losing weight without even trying, and since veggies do not spike insulin like other carbs, it is good for me. Although I am insulin resistant, I am thin and getting thinner, not a good thing for me. I am way on the lower spectrum of weight vs height. My point being some people do not need to count the veggies’ carbs because they need it in their diet.
