Wow thank you for the video, i will never know if you press both high or low in x32 will give you low 2 and high 2

The input channels have a low cut along with a 4-band EQ. The MixBUS, Matrix and Mains offer no low cut, but do have a 6-band EQ. If you push the 1-High, 1/2 together gets you to the second band, then 2 gets you to High mid. Give it a shot.

First of all, I've watched many of your videos at this point and to say I've learned a lot is an understatement. I've been "doing" audio for around a few years, at church mostly. The workflow you are presenting is exceptional. I have a question about using the busses with effects. I'm confused where the drums go routing wise to get the effects correct. It looks like you use a drum verb on a bus. The drums channels are routed into this bus but then how do they get back out to the live stream with the effects bus? Also, for your effects for everything... are the drums in there as well... plus the vocals? So you double up on the reverb with those groups? I hope this made sense.. just trying to figure out how to pack everything into the stream. I was originally using a matrix send but the video people said the sound was scratchy or had noise on the signal. Do you have a good cable to recommend that I could try... right now I'm just sending it through a stereo L/R XLR from the busses... thank you!

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm glad you are finding these videos helpful. In terms of the FX. I have a variety of setups I have used over the past 12-18 months and done videos on various setups. A matrix setup is a quick way to get audio to a stream and can be customized via buses if you have a bunch to spare in your setup. Most people end up linking a pair for band, a pair for drums and at least one if not a pair for vocals. I find that using a single pair can offer the benefits and I explain my setup in the video linked below. For the FX you want to decide if you have specific FX just for the stream or if you have them all available for your house and your stream. The video below discusses have two FX for House and two other dedicated FX for the stream. My house mix tends to have at least one delay for vocals and one reverb for vocals and a few drums. In my stream I could use the same delay, but might want different EQ settings and my reverb I usually want a mix of everything to go into it so there is a sense of a room for the stream. @@AllamHouse thank you for the answer. I’ve this video. But what I was talking about was the physical set up. The left and the right of the stream go to an audio interface or to the atem or to the camera directly? And also if you want to connect two digital mixers one for the house the other for the livestream , do you still have to set a matrix in the house mixer? Tell me the correct way to do it. Thanks
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 3 года назад
Weather you decide to use a matrix or a MixBUS for your stream, most people will go into the routing and send it out the USB 1/2 and connect a USB cable from the X-USB slot on the back of the console to their streaming computer. Then OBS, VMix or whatever streaming service you are using will see the signal on USB 1/2 and you have audio. You can use an ATEM and send the signal out XLR or the AUX outputs on the back of the console to plug into the device according to your needs. If you decide to go with a secondary console, you would (usually) just setup so that console takes the Main L/R output and goes into tour video device or route the Main L/R to go out USB 1/2 and into tour streaming device as mentioned above. This video discusses the routing in version 4 firmware to get the desired signal to go out USB 1/2. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vx4HjArTeZI.html

hello, great video, one question, we have the problem in my church, that the instruments, voices, especially the guitars that go directly from digital multi-effects, all sound with more mid range, they sound more metallic, even in the inears (we use) despite having a flat eq for the headphones, we never hear the sounds as we prepared them, why is this?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 года назад
Are you listening to this in the house PA or livestream? You mention listening in some “in-ears”, what brand are they as I’m curious about the EQ curve of these actual monitors. Keep in mind that each input will have slight color changes to the audio as it goes through a microphone, then a cable, then the preamp, then the console, then out through cables, then into amps and finally into speakers for listening. Live stream will further digitally compress your sound as it is encoded and pushed to the stream. For me, I use Sennheiser HD-280 Pro headphones (linked in my Amazon shop) as they have a pretty flat EQ curve and offer an accurate sound experience to make decisions from. I prefer to use EQ initially to remove the extra color added by all the items mentioned above and then maybe work to enhance the sounds as needed. Fee free to answer the questions above and I’ll see if I can help you identify your challenge spots. I also recommend multitrack recording so you can isolate one instrument at a time (back through the console) and evaluate it without the instrumentalist having to be on stage.

@@AllamHouse Thank you very much for answering, I use some CCA inears and they are very good, if I use them directly to my pod go, the guitar sounds great, but when I send the guitar to PA it returns with a more metallic and annoying sound, in fact if they fix the eq room changes the eq of the inear monitors and vice versa
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 года назад
Ok, this sounds like a PA / Room issue. What types of speakers are you running? You might need some sound treatment as other things around the room begin to vibrate with the PA running and this can adjust what we hear as well. Have you run an RTA on the room to get an appropriate spectrum curve inside of the room? You might decide that you need some different EQ for the Stream vs. House. I would usually use a Bus for this scenario and this video here talks about my approach that I use in my venue. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1WPltFnKnhs.html

So.. at I first I thought I could independently EQ the house and live stream; that adjusting the EQ on one, does not affect the other - but now I see that is not the same. I need to be able to independent adjust EQ in the house and on the livestream for voices, and instruments.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 3 года назад
If you are running 16 inputs or less then you can split yourself console into a ‘house layer’ and a ‘stream layer’. Even if you can find your most troubling instruments and only double them you will be good. The gain will be shared, but similar to this video (where I talk about doubling the acoustic guitar) you could EQ and compress differently. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3xnQFr0XD0I.html

@@AllamHouse well, the board isn’t as fancy as we hoped. Thanks for your answer. I spent many hours trying to find this info, for past few weeks.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 3 года назад
For what it’s worth, I am not aware of a digital board (regardless of the cost) that lets you do separate EQ and Comp per channel depending on where you send it. I do all of my settings for the stream and then use busses to make adjustments for the house. If you need to have specific EQ and Comp then you either duplicate your channels as mentioned before, or run a second console for the stream. Many people will also use a DAW to mix their stream which is usually cheaper than purchasing another mixer and offers a much better sound. All of these options require a second sound tech to manage which is why I just run a stereo, Post-Fader MixBUS for my stream audio.

Chad here from Heartbeat. What’s the best recording stick to use for the x32?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 10 месяцев назад
Hey there. Are you referring to the USB thumb drive on the front of the board where you can record a two-track mix? If so, I usually have a handful of basic 32-gig thumbdrives I get off Amazon for cheap (5-pack). You have to format them as Fat32 which takes a little work if you are predominantly in a Mac ecosystem. If I'm missing your question completely, let me know.

Hi again. So I'm wondering: is it better to add compression to the stereo bus or a limiter? Or do you use both?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Год назад
It all depends on the purpose of the Stereo BUS. If it is your main house mix then I tend to run compression and not limiting. If it is a stereo bus for a livestream or other broadcast I will run compression and a limiter. There are a few ways to accomplish this, but let me know if you have other questions or need specific solutions.
@Uzrdinma

@@AllamHouse the stereo bus is for a livestream. Considering that limiter is a kind of compression, I'm a bit confused on their uses. Is there a video of yours you can point me to so I can see limiter and compression in action on a livestream bus?

This video walks through how I use compression and limiting on my Livestream Bus. I am doing some unique things to get multiple levels of compression across a BUS and then a MATRIX to work around some limitations within the X32, but the entire video might be helpful, but we start listening to material around the 10:00 mark ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9abR8wv4a9c.html

Is there a way you can teach how operate the Behringer X32 Compact?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 3 года назад
The compact is the exact same as the full console in terms of functionality. The differences live in the amount of faders on the left side and the amount of I/O on the back of the board. Outside of those things, the line of X32 consoles all use the same brains and software.

I'm using m32 and I'm blog my lav mic in the inputs of the console my question is how to remove the background noise like hiss and all the unwanted noise sounds from the mic?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 года назад
Depending on the exact type of noise you are talking about will determine if/how to correct it. What type of mic are you using (brand/model)? How big is your venue? Are the PA speakers in front or behind the lav mic? Are you hearing high frequency hiss or background noise? How heavily are you compressing the input channels?

@@AllamHouse so i need to help me to know how to get clear sound with using m32 or x32 mixer? Thanks for that
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 года назад
My assumption is that you have a gain or volume turned way up somewhere and it is causing the mic to be really sensitive and push some unwanted static (electric noise) through. If you want to work together one on one, please fill out my contact card at sound.AllamHouse.com and we can find a time for a consultation call. In the meantime, these are the steps I would take… (1) set the gain on the Sennheiser unit to 50% (2) turn off the EQ and compressor on the channel (3) set the input fader to about -30 (4) have your person speak near their loudest point and set the gain (on the console channel) to hit -12 on the input meter (5) now adjust EQ and Compression to meet your needs (6) finally, bring the input fader to the volume you need in the house.
