I teach the same course at 2 different colleges. 1 uses the book you’re referring to and 1 uses Understanding Nutrition. The videos are based on Understanding Nutrition but the material covered is the same. Your book just organizes it in a different order.
I am 1 year post graduation and studying for my DTR exam. I am using your material to freshen up on my studies. If you have any suggestions on how to prepare for this exam I would appreciate your insight. It's very confusing to know what to study.
Hey Randi! I went straight to my RD exam so I never took the DTR. But these exams are no joke! Definitely a lot to study. When I took my RD exam, I used an actual guide. It had study materials for each thing that will be covered with flash cards and practice tests. I would recommend something similar if that’s possible for you. At the very least, I would recommend checking out the guide on the CDR website that says what will be covered and taking some practice tests. That will give you a better idea of how the exam will be as well as your weak points.

Hi Carmen, this is the textbook Understanding Nutrition by authors Whitney and Rolfes. It is an older edition, but the newer editions are the same with just some slight updates. You can find it used for an affordable price online or at local college bookstores. If you purchase it new, it will have some online study resources, but I don't believe it comes with lectures. This is my simplified breakdown based on the textbook.
The bile will start filtering directly into the intestine from the liver as it is created. Unfortunately, this is not usually enough to digest all the fat before it leaves the digestive system. For this reason, a high-fat diet will usually mean that the patient is running to the bathroom frequently with diarrhea! The best option is usually to limit fat and spread out your fat intake throughout the day.
