In our country there is a gentle woman who take turtles for hibernation in her cave under the house. She makes little individual shelters with hay and leaves and give them a number so at spring she can give the right turtle back to its owner !
I just saw your yt short so I had to come check this out. I had no idea you could do this! Thank you for sharing ❤ it really made my heart happy to see this
My cousin dose this, but one year due to a bad neighbor who believed their son said that they had buried their turtles alive an the mother had hopped the fence to "rescue them" an took em. It took a court order to have her give em back. They have since moved but the incident made them so wary they have them hibernate under ground under an open ground barn so no predators or nosey neighbors can get at them. Have you ever had to worry about predators where you live?
did the neighbors ever apologize? and were the turtles hurt from being woken up in the cold??? some people care more about being the "hero" than figuring out a situation...
@@soupsips They were returned whole thankfully, an he took them to the vet ASAP an asides from a mild vitamin deficiency the shock from the stupid ordeal has not seemed to have injured em. Ironically the son came to tell him sorry but the mother SUPPER pissy because they were following through pressing charges, something akin to "you didn't need to take it that far" over her getting fined I believe. They would have dropped all charges but because she refused to give em back and only did when the cops got involved. She went way too far across the line an being unreasonable an rude. But yeah you know it's sad when a child has more moral character than their parent.
If I saw someone bury a live turtle under 12" of dense soil before seeing this video, I would 100% think I needed to break in and save the turtle. I would have imagined they wriggle under half an inch of sand or something.
It's like taking photos of your two kids. There's always one that doesn't want to smile and looks bored on every picture.😂 I find this so fasinating! Can you not just put them in a box in the fridge? Seems al lot safer to me. 😅
Bruh i just visited your page hoping to see digging up from hibernation video .... i was extremely concerned bout those turtles since i found out about the hibernation .... really glad ro find out that this actually is a thing and those turtles are alive
See, that's the thing i was wondering about. What if they're not ready when you keep them underground and what if they're not ready when you dig them up? One of the questions is answered in this video. I also feel relieved to see them doing well after being dug up. ❤❤
Thank you for explaining this in detail. This was something I wish I knew before my tortoise passed. I was wondering why she wasn’t eating that much during the winter months and she was getting worse.
I found this because of veterinarian channel was very much against this force burying and releasing a box turtles. I'm not an expert on the subject but certainly worth picking about
These species of turtle in the wild bury themselves in the dirt to hybernate. The only difference wjth the captive turtles is that they need assistance, hence the burying in the backyard lmao. Yeah the turtles are okay.
Add to never knew that you may find a turtle while digging to the list of odd things that are common but I never knew. I would freak out if I found one. But not now. Like who discovered this???
I would like to see more videos please and I will remove that other comment that I made that you don’t have no videos took a little bit of digging, but I found them❤
Noooooooo XD Se van a MORIR!!!!! Mejor agarra una caja de madera y la llenas Hasta 20 o 39 Cms del mismo estrato de su jardín o terrario Y la caja la vas a poner en un lugar con poco sol Con una temperatura entre 3 y 10 °C y humedad 60%
she said she lives somewhere where its too cold in the winter for them to brumate by themselves safely. if they dont get buried that deep the frost will get them
Was it five months though? 🤔 she's wearing the exact same watch, clothes, headband, everything the same as in the video where they were buried. Even the weather seems to be the same overcast day. I could be wrong...but it's very suspicious.
Her hair is noticeably shorter in this video. It would be extremely bizarre to go through the trouble of getting a haircut to fake it being a different day, but not change clothes. My guess is they're her standard clothes for dirty work (gardening, painting, etc.).
