Digidesign Control 24 in-depth Repair 

Thanks for this awesome video!!! I had to replace all of my capacitors on the power supply unit and it did the job I took a chance and it worked. So far so good. Everything on my Control 24 would light up and stay lit for along time and sometimes it would work again but I was tired of dealing with this so I saw this video and now I'm glad I did.

Just bought two of these for £60 at an auction. It was "sold-as-seen" so not sure if either is working. Really pleased to see the motorised faders/rotary pots with leds/switches with leds/bar-graph leds. It is bigger than the auction picture showed so I'm probably going to pull all the bits off it and see if I can reuse in other projects as I don't have the space to use it as a mixing interface. Plus it's designed around ProTools (I'm PC-based around Reaper) - the inputs are on a couple of DB25 connectors rather than jack sockets. On the whole, I'm pleased with the purchase but have a lot of work ahead :).

Thanks for the video ;) I must repair one control 24 PSU too and I will replace all the caps too but the main failure is the SPW20N60S5 primary FET shorted so I think something is going wrong in the regulation/gate drive part. I think it's on the vertical PCB with smd components on it. But sometimes lot of output ripple (dryed smoothing caps) can cause long "Ton" on the gate drive and....tadam! shorted fet :D

Did you ever have a problem with Dim / Flickering scribble strip displays? I'm currently having this problem and wondering if it might just be a loose connection?

Do you know how to fix or buy the fader control board?

Man U r a GENIOUS!! Hey my Control 24 has a flashing red light on D5 of the CUB Board do u know what that indicates, or what it means is wrong w the Control 24? Mine does the ALL LIT UP thing and I just had the power supply fixed by Skynet. Ur help would be greatly appreciated. I hope to repair my 1-8 faders tonite. The D5 on CUB Board inside the unite on the underside, is flashing while powered up.

Thanks so much! Mine too shat the bed, but it’s one of the ones with the newer (non skynet PSUs), but I suspect the problem to be the same (seemed heat related). So yeah, guess I’ll attempt the cap job too... Doesn’t look like fun though, quite an amount of caps there :) Btw, you only changed the electrolytics, correct?

On my Control 24 the faderbank 1 + 2 are not working properly anymore and most of the time they just jump around and fucking up everything. Would replacing all the capacitors fix this? Awesome video btw!

Is there a way to get into the control surface from the top? Or do you have to access it from underneath? I have a fader I need to fix on a flat c24

i am currently with a psu of the same control 24 model, and it has issues that all lights light up no backlight in scribble strips after a few minutes of operation, any ideas where to start looking for issues? all lights light up, like it would on startup but nothing more than that

a buddy of mine has problems with his control 24, vu meters maxed out other lights blinking, and a few other things i have to look at, but in your opinion, what would be the best place to start troubleshooting except for psu wich i intend too recap completely?

can you fix my power supply and if so what do I need to do....I was one of those dummies that tried to clean the connectors....did once and it worked good...tried it a few days ago...some of the faders still jumping and so I cleaned the connections to the faders. After that one or two were stilling jumping so I went into the power supply instead of leaving it I tried to clean the connection in the power supply. Not sure if I put all the connectors back in the right place. but now no power....I am stuck...could you help

Can you fix my power supply too...I turn console on and everything lights up and stays on for approx 15 minutes then it works perfect for the day.This happens every time I start for the day

Great video man!! Thanx. I have a question regarding Offline. I moved my control 24 from one room to another about 2 weeks agao. Powered the mixer up yestoday and started working and serverell times it went offline in the middle of a session and I had to reboot the session. Eithernet cable is in and working. On top of this I got a pretty loud buum from the one set of speakers connected to the controller. Not as it went offline but in between. Any ideas?
