The writers really wanted to emphasize that this is psychological horror, just in case no one got it in the first episode.

The most shocking part to me is that people are acting like Jax wasn't a jerk in the pilot. He was going out of his way to break Gangle's comedy mask more, putting centipedes in Ragatha's room, throwing bowling balls at Kinger. If anything, we got to see a split second of Jax's softer side in this episode

Jax was clearly the Bender of the group from the start. A fucking asshole nobody would like in real life, but charismatic enough to be likable in fiction.

I love the way that a quick gag, Pomni falling on the block and getting launched into the ceiling, wasn't just a quick gag. She remembers it, and realizes she can use the debug blocks to launch the truck.

I watched this with my grandpa and he said “this is such a young person’s show. When you’re young, living in this world feels like hell because it takes your potential away from you. When you’re old, and you’ve lived your life and fulfilled your potential, you just want to live. This world is heaven to the older folks because it’s eternal life and fun.” This blew my mind.

Caine's reason for deleting Gummigoo leads to another horrifying point that I've only seen a few people mention: That means he doesn't have a built-in way to identify who in the virtual world is what. Caine not having access to ID tags or documentation about the entities in the world he's supposedly controlling is a major sign he's not supposed to be the one in charge...

Bubble trying to quit smoking was the funniest joke of the episode. 😂

I love how the whole fandom thought that Gummigo was going to be part of the main cast but he ended up exploding and disappeared by Caine once he stepped foot into the circus

Caine is not a villain but he is basically the saying “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” he’s an AI that doesn’t know how to properly help the humans who get trapped there and is unintentionally hurting them

I just realized each character matches the stages of grief Denial: Ragatha Anger: Jax Bargaining: Pomni Depression: Comedy and tragedy Acceptance: Kinger

I love that it's adult animation that actually has mature themes and writing and isn't just another irreverent sitcom with crude humor and ugly characters.

One thing that was really sad to me about the Pomni/Gumigoo friendship was the fact that Pomni said 'I could use a friend'-- seemingly innocuous, but also exposes the fact that she doesn't consider anyone else at the circus to be a 'friend'. Makes it all the more crushing when her one new friend is zapped out of existence and makes her feel super alone once again ;x But, on the flipside, gives the ending a tinge of sweetness alongside the bitterness of losing our gator guy when Pomni accepts the reality that she's NOT alone, and that even if she can't exactly relate to the other people trapped here, they do all share the same struggle x,3

ngl the moment he and pomni started talking i immediately knew he was gonna die. then when pomni said "maybe you can come to the circus!" i was like "oh Caine is gonna obliterate this man-" i still love him tho-

this episode made me realize that funerals aren't just for the purpose of giving our final goodbyes to a loved one we've lost, it's also a reminder/promise to everyone attending that we will all be remembered and missed the same way once it's ultimately our turn to go

GummiGoo made me cry 😭 Neither him nor Pomni deserved that

The fact Twitter couldn't handle how Jax acted in this episode was something truly special P.S. Gummigoo is a real one

It’s a dark comedy and psychological horror, they’ll probably end each episode with Pomni going insane. I can see one of two outcomes… she abstracts, or she becomes “too insane to abstract,” like Kinger. I can say, I am definitely hopeful that Gummigoo returns sometime in future episodes. And also, I sure hope that him exploding was just a teleportation and that his memories aren’t wiped. But I definitely will say, that part was sad.

12:24 Caine was literally boasting about his "new more immersive AI" at the start of the episode... Jax said he wanted to break it so he would probably be pretty shocked to hear how Gumigoo broke on his own for a while, then put on an agitated front that he didn't get to do it himself.

Caine: "It's so sad that Kaufmo died of ligma." *Gummigoo: "Who the $#&% is Kaufmo?"* Caine: "Ligma balls." *(snapped)*

People seem to either ignore or deny Caine's reasoning for killing Gummigoo, but I think it's pretty important. There could be real consequences if he ever mixed up who is and isn't human. Although a polite rejection and teleporting woulda been much better than straight murder. Then again, when NPCs are unloaded, who's to say it's not the same fate either way

One thing you got wrong is when you were questioning things about Caine, it’s been stated somewhere that he’s just an AI that doesn’t understand humans that well, and this fact makes me feel bad for all the hate he’s getting for killing Gummigoo, as he doesn’t know any better.

I definitely agree that Jax does have a heart, and I’m not saying that just to save his image. When the gang starts talking about Kaufmo (?), he does seem upset, but he goes right back to his tough guy attitude as if he’s telling himself, “No, we can’t feel that way.” There’s gotta be more to his character.

That intro XD But Gummigoo is just too precious, I’m so sad he turned to confetti :( (forgot how to spell his name for a sec lol) Bro why are all the bots after me?! We’ll just report them for unwanted advertising because that’s all we can really do :(

I honestly like Jax more now than I did before, these girlies think they want a toxic twink but then loses interest the moment the twink is actually being toxic. _psh!_ That being said, Kinger is still Best Boy for me. Gummygoo coming in second but Jax might take that spot depending on if we actually get to see more of Gummygoo or not

i couldnt believe how they managed to animate an entire character journey transparently shown in jax with just a couple frames of ragatha saying "we'd like to do a funeral" and for a SPLIT second you see jax's eyebrows raise almost breaking up,but blink himself back into his angry self and roll his eyes,like he was saying "ugh,this is completely pointless why do you even try"

I'm kinda digging this new era of horror, we went through creepypastas, jumpscares, mascots, and now we're on "Looming Dread" horror

Apparently the Amazing Digital Circus is based off of I have no mouth and I must scream, so the existential dread makes sense given that context

Gooseworx was right, we weren't ready for Gummigoo 😢😭 The only other piece of media that had the whole "NPC discovers what an NPC is" was Free Guy, and it was largely used as comedy from what I remember. I loved how the episode used that idea and demonstrated just how terrifying it really is to experience. Bring our boy back!

Kevin Temmer, the lead animator of the show, said that he did in fact use greedy as an inspiration for animating the fudge. He recently made a short about his animation inspirations that opens with that

16:20 In this scene you can see Jax's expression showing genuine sadness for a second while Ragatha explains the funeral. He's a jerk but not a _complete_ monster.

13:15 She has gone on record saying she loves this film. Jax's VA even said that his voice direction was somewhat inspired by Andy's voice and even did a cover of his song, No Girl's Toy. The lead animator, Kevin Temmer, also confirmed that the Greedy was an inspiration.

Most terrifying part is when gummi feels his model, it’s actually him so his skin/scales/gum would feel like his but be non living, like if you saw a non-concious you and it actually felt like you, the skin, hair would feel like yours

The part that really gets to me is when Gumigoo asks where his mom is among the character models. That sinking feeling of when you realize that someone you love and cared for never existed but was just programmed into your backstory. That’s deep.

My sister and I kept rewinding the part where Bubble goes “Nah, I’m trying to quit.” Probably the only time we’ll see Bubble be the closest to sane.

The Amazing Digital Circus is like a spiritual successor to the Adventures of Raggedy Ann and Andy but lot more mature and takes place in a video game instead of a toy setting.

Gummigoo was only there for a few minutes but I already miss him. Also I find it funny how many people hate Jax now when they made it clear he was a prick from the start.

Of course, the famous lyrics in the intro: "There's Pomni, and Ragatha, and even a bear", 100% accurate.

8:52 I hate that no one is talking about how Pomni glitched at the start of the episode due to the collision of the block here, and then remembered it when they fell under the map and figured out that they should replace the truck's wheels with the blocks to mess with the collision and launch them back up.

I completely agree on the fact the second episode was an improvement. I loved it. It all felt neatly wrapped in fancy wrapping paper, with a bow on top and then patted on the head.

I'm really worried that Gummigoo will come back, but have his character save data completely wiped. If Pomni sees him but he doesn't remember her, I think I'd break down crying.

Let's hope that Caine brings Gummigoo back in the future for a new adventure. This can't be the last time we got to see him!!! There is even a plush of him to buy. This has to be a sign!!! ❤

He was genuinely my favorite part with just how funny his delivery was at times. “Sometimes I can still hear them…calling to me (the sounds of the damned faintly echo as the camera zooms in on Fudge’s eyes)” Or even… Jax: “you seem like an upstanding guy with noble goals!” Fudge: “Oh, I’m not! If you knew what I did in my free time, oh you’d be *SICKENED* !”

I like how 90% of the early comments in the episode was toddlers saying, and I quote, "qubakkkksrovz aandcnfwkz" quite the masters of wordplay these guys

Caine actually reminds me a lot of The Collector (the owl house) in a lot of ways. I feel like it would be really interesting exploring Caine’s understanding of death and dread and loss because he seems to just not get the weight of his actions. Killing bubble is literally a running joke. Maybe the writers will pull a Kenny Dies (South Park) and Caine will learn tHat yOuR acTiOnS HaVe cOnSeqUEnCeS Or he’ll just be a Bill Cipher type character who thinks pain is funny, I dunno

1:40 I mean yeah, in the sense it's themes can be handled by children and when they grow up. The content farms just reduce the importance of themes completely making their content NOT for kids because it doesn't actually care for them when they get older.

I feel like the show not only plays with pomnis feelings, it also tries to play with ours, since it leaves more cuestions than answers and makes us question if something good can really come out of moments like pomni trying to help someone

So cool fun fact. The room Pomni and Gummygoo end up going to is a preload room. They are a room where assets, models, textures, etc are stored so that when they need to spawn immediately they don't have to load it in, they just have to teleport or clone that object into the rest of the game.

Rule 1 of any videogame or series. Don’t fall in love with the character who hasn’t been around for long but is suspiciously the best character and- oh wait it’s too late, he’s already my favourite one… *oh and he’s dead too…*

Honestly, after seeing the tone of the pilot episode, I did expect Gummigoo tragic fate. I mean duh... this is NOT a kids show where everything will go happy and joy, it's actually the exact opposite. So yeah, I would have been way more surprised if Gummigoo did joined the crew.

Funny thing about this episode is, before it aired, i never knew gummy gators were an actual product. I just thought they were made up for the show. But no, apparently they do exist. Just like gummy snakes and gummy sharks

the part where gummigoo find out hes not real and pomni trys to comfort him really reminds me of a scene from toy story 1 when buzz and woody are in sids room and buzz is sitting by the window all depressed and woody trys to cheer him up

Watched Gooseworx's older stuff and after that, TADC Episode 2 seems tame by comparison. However, Episode 2 does start to incorporate more of the existential sort of horror that is in those other videos, and it is exciting to think we will start to get more of it as the series goes on! Goose really does excel at it.

re: making the NPCs sentient, Caine does actually directly address this. He says at the start of the episode that he's trying out a new AI system to make the adventures "more immersive" for the players. Presumably he just didn't fully think through the ramifications of making the NPCs act more like real people.

Ragatha saying to Pomni that Caine could reuse Gumigoo in a later adventure is probably a parody to the fact that a lot of CGI television cartoons would often recycle background characters from episode to episode, often give them a different voice, maybe give them a different outfit or colour, and treat it like the main character had never seen this person before, essentially to say that this is a different character due to the low budget these series tend to have. Notable shows that do this include, The Garfield Show, Alvinnn! And The Chipmunks, Robot and Monster, Rabbids Invasion and practically any show made by Dreamworks.

For the love of Pomni, *please* do something about the bots that have infested this channel's comment sections.

Great video! Only other thing I think would be worth mentioning would be the teapots in the area Pomni and Gummigoo fell through. Those are Utah teapots, which are common models in teaching CGI and have become something of an homage or meme in the animation community.

17:04 Perhaps this could also imply that Pomni still does not trusts Jax nor Caine, since the only hands we can see are the ones from the characters present in the funeral and actually acting like decent human beings. I could be very wrong about that though, the episode was awesome though!

I'm thinking the NPCs aren't aware themselves but are rather extensions of Caine. He can't afford the resources to maintain too many persistent NPCs without losing track of himself.

This show is so great. I hope it goes to the great places it deserves. I feel like if they bring back GummiGoo he’s gonna be pissed lol. Tbh I thought he was just gonna vanish through the portal, but him popping away was sadder 😅

This show feels to me like the candy-coloured (and flavoured) version of "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream". There are of course a lot of mysteries yet to be uncovered, but I do get a lot of the same vibes: An omnipotent jailor, no escape, a perpetual state of torment and an exploration of Humanity. The (apparant) motivations of said jailor _might_ be different, but from my understanding this is because Kane might be Human themselves. He might have ultimate creative control over the place, but he is not omniscient. He just now created NPCs that are able to think about themselves and realize themselves. He isn't torturing the inhabitants of this world by malice, but through reckless kindness.

One thing I love doing after seeing the episodes is that youtube recommends me "behind the scenes" (or however it's called in animation I guess) of the diferent people who worked on this and their thought process, tiny details or references they included. It's really fun

The ending really destroyed me. Like why they do my gummy boy like that? Also, while I enjoyed the funeral scene, I feel like it kinda took away from Gummygoo's death so I hope Pomni doesn't just act like he doesn't exist in the future. Lastly, I thought they couldn't make Jax even worse of a person but they did. I hope he gets what coming to him because I hate this trope of people being douchebags without anything happening to them. With all that said, loved this episode and can't wait for more.

the following points are important to keep in mind when talking or theorizing about the show -the main inspiration was I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream -Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure was another big inspiration -episodes 2-4 were written before the pilot even aired -the show won't have an overarching plot -but it will focus on character development

I really wish they’d let us hear what they were saying about Kaufmo. But since Pomni is our POV character, it makes sense that they’re meaningless words for her and what we’re focused on is how much her “co_players” are going to care for her and remember her.

I see the hand grabbing as more of from Pomni's perspective, rather than showing jax not opening up yet. She see's that these guys genuinely cared for Kaufmo and that they won't just abandon her like she initially thought via her dream. That's why Jax and Caine weren't apart of the hand grabbing, she doesn't see them as allies at the moment. And kinda rightly so lol

I was not at all surprised by what Cain did to the Gummigoo. I knew that him either dying or being sent back was the most likely outcome because this entire series is about existential dread. Pomni's nightmare at the beginning was in relation to her fearing that if she couldn't find a way out, she too would eventually go mad and be tossed into digital hell, too alone (or not...). She had met the others, but if you look back, she never truly opened up and connected with any of them like she did with the NPC in this episode. Why? Because she thought he was the closest to her in terms of feeling trapped and in a terrible situation of existential dread. She gave him hope which in turn restored some of her hope... Only for that to be immediately blown to bits by Cain. However, the key is what came next... the funeral. Seeing how the others grieved and mourned Kofmo did genuinely restore enough of a sense of hope to where when she has her dark nightmare again, she imagines the others reaching down to pull her out. Maybe she hasn't truly connected with them yet, but now she knows that she isn't truly alone. They truly ALL have been in her position before so now she can try to start to really open up to them. They will offer her the helping hand when she needs it. One other thing, neither Kofmo nor Gummigoo are actually dead. Kofmo is in the basement. He's lost his mind but not actually dead. Gummigoo's model is still in his home map. We likely havent seen the last of either of them.

the hands that grab Pomni's in her dream are, well, in her dream. So they represent how she views those characters at this point. She see's Caine as her jailer, Jax as cruel and probably does not see Gangle as a reliable character that would have her back. She probably only sees Zooble in her dream because she set up the funeral.

Fun fact: Gummigoo is the same colours as Australia's national sport colours. He is very Australian

13:20 Raggedy Ann was a whole franchise based on the actual real life ragdoll (Andy is her Ken so to speak though he's her brother rather than love interest), not just a movie you know. Also the fudge monster reminded me of certain ther brown slimey beast with candy corn for teeth from Conker's Bad Fur Day (which I have not played but I _have_ seen the musical number).
