Hello hello hello! Happy 20th anniversary, Rent! We sing What You Own with Kenny Brescia, Rent's original guitarist, Alex Lacamoire on keys, and Adam Freaking Pascal as Roger.
Can you just imagine how jealous high school Lin would be of modern day Lin? Getting his dream of performing as Mark and being accompanied by Adam Freaking Pascal?!
I think Alex Lacamoire has become my favorite person ever. Dude has talent just pouring out of him, works his assistant off and every single time he's being recorded playing, the joy he displays is infectious. This man is a treasure
The RENThead in me like completely died. I always think of Lin-Manuel Miranda's crazy and slightly awkward energy as very Mark so when "what you own" started I was like yes, good, who's gonna come in as Roger? and then HOLY SHIT IS THAT ADAM PASCAL?
Claramata I had the same thought about who was going to be roger and then when Adam started singing I was like wait he looks like the actual roger in the movie and from Broadway so I went to look at the description and then silently freaked out for three minutes.
Yeah like real talk, before I even knew who played Hamilton (or anything about the show really??) I heard Lin's voice and thought it was the guy who played Mark and I was like WAT annnnd then I discovered Hamilton and the rest is history. ;;
When I first started listening to Hamilton i had no idea what anyone in the cast looked like, and I kept imagining Alexander Hamilton being played by Mark!
I'm feeling too much joy just watching this. But Lin looked like he was trying to contain his excitement so hard, and I can't blame him, singing something from rent with Adam Pascal is...wow.
I just realized Lin fucked up the words at the beginning (he said "don't SLEEP" instead of "don't THINK") but at this point I don't care anymore because Adam Freaking Pascal.
they should do la vie boheme with the whole cast Lin-Mark Rene-Maureen Oak-Collins Anthony-Angel Jasmine-Joanne Leslie-Benny Daveed-Rodger Phillipa-Mimi
When you're crying of joy because even though you have not seen Hamilton, you have watched all the Ham4Hams, you have the Hamilton album and watched every interview possible about the cast, so you are just really proud of them living their dreams.
I FANGIRLED WHEN IT STARTED I FANGIRLED WHEN THE CAMERA LIKE PANS RIGHT AND IT WAS LIKE SURPRISE BITCHES WE HAVE ADAM PASCAL HERE I FANGIRLED ALL OVER THE PLACE AHHHHHH (same, lin, SAME.)
I... Am I dead? Because this is... Holy shit. I cannot be the only one who basically laugh-cried through this because it's so perfect. Is Lin an angel or what?
So I watch every Ham4Ham, and when I watched this one I decided I needed to watch Rent since I've never seen it. Fast forward two and a half hours later, I'm back and forever changed.
this is so perfect i feel like crying... is that weird??? Like a just became obsessed with Rent and Hamilton at about the same time and this is just making me feel all of the feelings.
Burst into proper bawling tears like a fuckwit when the camera panned onto Adam Pascal. The little disbelieving dorky smile on Lin's face when Adam starts singing. Help. Can't stop watching.
YES! I feel like Lin does the best job at just fangirling for all of us. He sang along to the Rent soundtrack just like we all did. And now he's living our dreams for us. Too adorable!
I don't think there are any Broadway crossovers that could make me happier than what I just watched. Also, everybody just looks so happy to be here which makes it all the more emotional to watch because it's lovely and tender and REAL.
This is so awesome! RENT was and still is everything!! Lin, I hear and see RENT influences in your beautiful, meaningful and original projects. So, here's to Jonathan Larson who launched a new era in live theater and musicals, that still inspires audiences and artists to be conscious of the need to care about our fellow humans, and our incredible planet.
