It is obvious, he will never recognize it, because it was a challenge that Mutombo issued, and they fulfilled it, he says that the hoop was covering him, jajajaja, it is clearly seen, that Mutombo knows that he is coming and he believes that the prey is coming, but It was one more dam for Jordan of more than 7', that is what really bothers Mutombo, knowing that his challenge came true
Bruh I’m sick of this era and the games bring back hand checking bring back the real teams that had passion to play for their team I miss the physicality and competitiveness
I agree, basketball was so much better when they allowed hand checking, physical play and trash talking. The mental game getting into your opponents head and physical game should be part of the game. The NBA peaked in the 80's-90's.
I also dislike the newer ESPN commentators like Jay Williams acting like they’ve been a part of this narrative. You were 16 when this dunk happened Jay. Just stop.
I definitely remember that game. MJ came baseline and went up, Mutumbo was a foot or two in the paint, he tried to contest it and failed. HE GOT BANGED ON. PERIOD!! Michael Jordan is the ultimate competitor and if he puts you on his hit list, rest assured there will be a line through your name at some point before you leave the Earth.
After the game, Craig asked Jordan about the dunk on Mutumbo and the finger waving afterward: "Is that something you're gonna regret?" Jordan: "No, (but) yeah, I do regret, cuz that's a technical foul. In retrospect, I'm giving the other team a point." Just one of many reasons Jordan is the best ever.
Great point.I was gonna point out him shooting and making a free throw with his eyes closed in a game. I know it’s ‘just a free throw’ or whatever, but Lebron ain’t doing that.He doesn’t even take his teams technical free throws (yet another reason he ain’t the goat).Kobe never did that,Steph never has,KD never has,,not Kareem or Magic not Bird not wilt not russell,etc... And again,I get that it’s ‘just a free throw’,but you gotta have a dif type of confidence to do that in a game mid conversation or mid shht talking with the opponent and to just be laughing about the situation the whole time...then of course he swished it. And if any Kobe fans see this yea I know kobe bet $$👀 bla bla bla on a free throw and you gotta have crazy confidence to even suggest that etc etc etc yea I get it...but he didn’t close his eyes.Big difference.
Then why’d you ask what it had to do with Lebron? I was just pointing out yet another reason Lebron,Kobe our whoever else is nowhere near MJ.I do that any time I get a chance. Dumb fans need to stop acting like Lebron or anybody else is the goat over MJ.Shit is getting annoying.
Growing up watching this era and the coverage afterwards. Mutumbo is such a light hearted jokester that he just talks s*** to the goat because he can. I find it hilarious. There’s not a lot of content about mutumbo. But he can always be a part of the goats content
@@shaunkoger8096 Ewing is the one player that I really feel sorry for, for having the misfortune of playing his WHOLE career during the Jordan era. Jordan was snatching rings from Ewing since his college days! Ewing's entire career was haunted by MJ! smh lol
I remember watching this when it happened. At the time I had no idea what the backstory was, I just remembered Johnny Red Kerr flipping out. I thought it was just because Mutumbo was doing the finger wag that whole year. And I remember Red Kerr being so furious that they gave Jordan a technical on the finger wag. You were great
The mere fact we are talking about a 6 foot 6 Guard. hunting & dunking on a 7 foot centers tells you all you need to know about how amazing MJ vertical & strength was.
I'm 5'9 and i could dunk a 9' foot rim 😁😁 a 6'6' should jump on top of the rim ! Tire of something that is easy because of their height, that we make a big deal out if it !
It brings a tear to my eye because I was fortunate enough to be able to see for 12 years what Micheal did to people, he was was and is the smoothest basketball player ever. He never disappointed, ever.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@codycomstock3260 No one actually said cry. Try rereading the OP and this time think exaggeration, humor or enhancing a point to show how special MJ was.
😂😂😂I was about to turn 19 when I saw this I remember him gettin Mark Eaton and Manute Bol and those two are 7’4 and 7’7 im still like wtf 26 years later
Mikembe was the epitome rim protector, that was his main job and skill. So regardless of where Jordan started his attack from in comparison to where Mikembe started his attack from, his job was to protect the rim, and he failed that time and got dunked on lol.
Did you see the change in Michael Jordan's body language when mutombo said Scotty did?? Just the body language alone and the way he starts rocking side to side says I am going to vanquish this guy!!
Lolol I didn't peep that, but this whole thing is funny. Some folk just don't get it. It's like investing time and energy into someone that actively goes out of their way to show you that when it comes to his game, you can't touch him. It's just a matter of time before he consciously chooses to show out, or shows out based on the right "opportunity" presenting itself. There's hype, and then there's reality!
@@junglekutz5625 I can just tell that his mind became very active as soon as mutombo said Scotty dunked on him but Jordan never did. Maybe I noticed it more than others because I have a similar personality in some ways to Michael Jordan so I know what was going on and I know he went home and just thought about it and thought about it and thought about it and that was mutombo's undoing LOL.
@bryantnonya8704 maybe.....I have no idea. But based on how he has readily reacted to others on the court to show and prove whatever (based on whomever annoying him).....needing to think about or "over think" what comes natural to him, doesn't seem to be the drive behind how his mind works.
God I remember that, it was all hyped up in the Media leading up to that series. Mutumbo was a defensive stopper and could Jordan drive to the hoop with him there. That's all we heard, well we know how that all worked out.
RIP Mr. Mutumbo.💖 Thank you for your no no no finger and your generosity for many people, especially to your country. 🥰🤗 See you in Heaven. 😇🥰 Taiwan misses you. 🇹🇼😭
Mutumbo was inaccurate about one of the things he said... Yes, he was coming from the opposite side of the rim BUT he reached the basket at the same time Jordan did. Regardless of the fact that Mutumbo is about a foot taller than MJ, MJ had an incredible vertical leap that he showed. Video doesn't lie
..and Mutombo, was in the zone as a real post, he got enough time and almost one xtra foot (in height) to go up and still with that advatnages, lost in front of MJ that was faster and with more courage and vertical over him!!
He definitely stuffed it on his ass, he keeps saying it took 7 years, they only played 1 or 2 games a year at most, MJ destroyed everybody, a lot better players than Mutombo
Dikembe Mutumbo: (blocks mike shot, waves finger) "NOT AT MY HOUSE!" Michael Jordan: when I saw him and heard him say that and that's when I took it personally 😂
Our man Patrick Ewing left Dikembe Mutombo talking smack to the goat. It was funny we all knew Pat wanted to say to Dikembe "Don't go there, don't you go challenging Mike"
The thing about these videos is that they make you smile ear to ear having been alive to see these games. Awesome!! These should all be preserved in HD digital for infinity.
Yea Lebron do be trying to pick on the smaller guys 😂 I still remember the couple of times he got John Lucas III when he played for the bulls. Lucas Lil Ass did surprisingly get his lick back and actually dunked on Lebron after he got postered but I don’t think that makes up for after the 1 time when Lebron had his sack on my mans head 😭🤦🏾♂️
2 things we can evaluate: 1) MJ after 7years felt relieved, overjoyed, and closed a big chunk of a book chapter that has all the fans doubt about MJ unable to handle all the big guys in NBA. He finally dunked to the greatest blocker whom I prefer to call the "Great Wall of NBA". It was MJ's another great exploit and snd brought him to even further up to another level. 2) Dikee obviously is bitter since that dunk and couldn't move on every time he's confronted with that event thru interviews and conversations. Actually, the fact that it took MJ 7years to put a dunk on Dikee shows a loud statement of how great a blocker really he was in NBA. Dikee in fact has to only have to put up good wording arrangement of that line because as MJ accomplished it, it actually also elevated Dikee to a different level as the greatest blocker in NBA history. Dikee doesn't have to resort on pulling up all his verbal machineries to prove his point and discredit MJ at the same time.
And u wonder why he says that ? we know the background story thanks to internet but I bet a lot a people didn’t even know it took m’n 7 years for that 1 dunk? And like he said that was not getting dunked on. He has the right to confront people that try to diminish his accomplishments
What MJ said about doing the finger wave is a great example of the mentality a leader needs to have in a team sport... He got his moment but he cost the team a point and realizes that it was wrong.
Condolences. There are no players this tough, hard nosed, skilled and determined to do the dirtywork on defence for the fans and the W. As a fan I really aprecite Mutombos game. The NBA now is just boring no one like this anymore in the league. This will be the 2nd season in a row now im not watching the NBA. Respect 🙏
I respect Mutumbo here. He’s not saying he’s better than Michael, or that he dominated him. He just means when Michael challenged him around the rim where he is comfortable or dominant in that area, he was more successful
You gotta love DM's level of confidence. It's the only language MJ understands. Mutumbo is fearless. He took a beating from Shaq day after day and still have his all. These guys are phenomenal 🔥
With all due respect....Dik was late on the help. That give and go was fast. Mike already had a running start when he got the bounce pass, and it's definitely hard to see a bounce pass from the weak side. Dik probably thought Moke was just running to the other side. By the time he realized Mike got a bounce pass, Dik was still on the other side of the lane....Lol.
Mutombo, if that wasn’t really a dunk “on” you, then you have to admit your block on Jordan was a Foul. You may have got the ball, but that was a lot of body too 😅
@@Spud_E_Buddy hahaha..so funny how people try to leave a comment saying theyre the best of what they have been thinking beyond their limit..😅😅..just saying..not against you..✌️
