That's right Ramsey, NBA today is a soft thing. They say that nowadays the basketball is played like this. The most of time, we watch only three-point-shoot players.
@@RealTeuton555 if ya saw ANYTHING tough in this 6 min clip, you're lying lol. This was todays basketball with no 3's. Rodman was also the biggest flooper lol
I love the commentary back then versus today, “see that’s a cheap shot and that’s right George he can’t let this guy hit him with a cheap shot” encouraging the retaliation when it’s called for rather than saying it’s a disgrace and not to react
The 90's was a watered down league, you kidding? It's why the bulls won six. There was no competition! The Jazz, Trailblazers, Sonics and Suns weren't exactly dynasties, not even close. Teams the bulls played against in the finals. Even the Lakers team was old and outdated past their prime.
@@reformedgringle show us the super teams in the 90's then. Go ahead, I'll take your argument apart right in front of you. I never compared the 90's to todays league. You did! I was merely pointing out why the bulls won so many rings. It was a joke of a league. The real super teams were in the 1980's with LAL, Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia and even Houston. The bulls didn't have to contend with a super talented league like that. Teams in the 90's had basically one star on it and the bulls simply had the deepest bench in the league, is why they won all of those rings. And to prove that point further, look at all of the teams they faced in the finals? Anyone could make it to the finals in those days. The 90's was watered down man and you know it!
Murasan was a legit threat before his injuries, not just tall. He was voted most improved in 1995. 14.5ppg, 9.total rebound , 3.3 offensive. 2.3 block on 58% shooting. Not only 7’7” with 7’10” wingspan but probably about 330 or 340 then and strong. He was a very tough inside force offensively, tough on the boards, and defensively disruptive.
@@yakovvidberg7035 you have no clue, basketball is a very physical game have you ever played on a team? nba has 30% less viewers in America today than when Rodman played because nba made the game soft after metaworldpeace attacked fans in the stands
Oh so punching and elbowing someone is defense now huh, you all just wants fights so you should watch mma or wwe for that and not basketball. it's clearly you all don't know basketball. old heads...
Gheorghe is a genuinely nice guy. I used to see him hanging out at wizards games all the time well after he retired. It seemed like he was at almost every home game. He would just hang out and talk to fans. I moved so no longer go to games but I wouldnt be surprised if hes still always there.
Of course it was intentional. It’s not like he was sly or coy about it. I’ll give Rodman credit for hustling his butt off with rebounding, etc but I don’t give him much credit for his dirty antics 🤷♂️
No matter how crazy D.Rodman appeared to be. There was a method to his madness. He made up for his size by getting into players heads mentally. Greatest rebounder, I have ever witnessed👍...
Get into their heads? CHEAP! He use to push people around. He didn't get into their heads, he simply pissed them off. ANYONE can do that! I will give you this though. He was a heck of a rebounder.
Love the stoic nature of Phil Jackson. He doesn't fly off the bench...no yelling....no worries. He knows he's got a loose cannon in Rodman, & the ultimate problem solver in Jordan.
Rodman was not a loose canon. He was a controlled weapon. More like a sniper. He had a job to do and did it well. The Technical fouls were part of the job.
Of all the players Rodman was the most like an actual "bull", how he goes up against guys so much bigger than him is crazy, he just has incredible strength
thank you for your videos. they are very entertaining and bring me back to a time where i used to watch the nba. Have not since 16' and will not. But i could watch these old videos for hours! thanks again.
@@plekkchand Not nonsense. It's the nuances of sports. Sports are ALL about rhythm. If you can throw your opponents rhythm off, you OWN them. Dennis owned Muresan in this series. Bulls Win! Bulls Win! Bulls Win!
If this was Hocket and one of the few Black Players was being harrassed and Assaulted by a White Player, people wojuld call ikt for what it is- Racism and the Perpetratro is a Racist Big. Again, continuing with my example of the White Hockey Player attacking a Black Player, there would be a Major Protest and the White Hockey Player would be thrown out of the League and possibly arrested. The same standard should apply in Basketball when Black Player harrass and assault Non-Blacks like Whites and Asians. There may also have been an Anti-Semitic angle to this if the Russian player was also Jewish or partially Jewsih.
Dennis Rodman, my favorite player of all time. The mental gymnastics that he performed on all his opponents was surgical including Jordan, and that's why MJ requested his services 😂
Growing up you hated Rodman being a piston but we loved him and realized how good of a player he was when he was on your team NEVER SEEN ANYONE PLAY HARDER AND WITH SUCH GRIT
Jordan & Pippen played just as hard. That is why they won three championships without Rodman. Don't even start with other team's players like Kobe, Iverson, Bird, etc...
Dennis was 6,7 guarding a guy 7,7 shows how versatile he was when luc Longley who was the bulls center wasn't guarding the center on the other team instead Phil had rodman do it
I forgot the Bullets had a great squad. Rod Strictland, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard.. Just imagine if they were in today's league. They would be deep in the Eastern conference during playoff time.
No they wouldn't...Strickland can't shoot, Webber doesn't play like a big man, Howard is not a strong power forward. They paid Howard 120 million, after they found out he was not as good as advertised. One of the greatest all time rip offs. That is why the bullets/wizards are still sorry to this day.
@@kcorpora1 you are wrong probably always wrong, This Bullets team gave the Bulls the most problems, the eighth seed Bullets were legit, Rasheed Wallace and Tim Legler coming off the bench, you don’t know what your taking about. Millennial Idiot. Latrell Sprewell wanted to join Webber in DC Too. Howard played SF Webber PF and Cheany a legit 2 guard.
Yeah, this Washington team had some talent but they lost the series 3-0. Only one of the games was close. Muresan played lousy, he almost had more turnovers than points. The Washington got broken up after this and most of the players achieved more after leaving town, which is typical for Washington.
My uncle was in college in that area at that time and he told me they had to break that squad up because they were tearing the city up. Especially after they drafted Rasheed Wallace.
Russel was 6'10, playing against weak white boys. Excluding Centers, Rodman was up against monsters like, KG, Kemp, Barkley, Oakley, Malone etc. arguebly the greatest defender / rebounder in his era.
How so?? He never did anything on offense lol??? Versatile to me would be able to do stuff on offense and defense. I get your point but you worded it wrong.
@@865style In terms of energy expended per possession basis, Dream was the GOAT. Worm was allowed to float for tip ins and offensive rebounds given he was a free throw liability with an average mid range jumper. Meanwhile, the offense flowed through Olajuwon and he anchored the defense while expecting to gather most of the rebounds.
Rodman was so incredibly smart and fearless. He knew his role and he played it better than anyone. His mental game was tough like Larry Bird. He understood mental warfare was good at getting players off of their game.
Back when basketball wasn't played by over priced pussies. James could survive this era and a select few. This was my favorite era of basketball. Just for the record . I am not a Jordan fan (he is the best ever.) . I like Bird , Drexler , Barkley , Kevin Johnson and Mark Price(extremely underrated), Reggie Miller.
Rodman was such a genius with everything he did. You got a guy who's probably 6'7 against the guy who's 7'7 a whole foot difference and he D's this guy up hard forcing everything he can in getting double technicals to put the pressure on him as well. I love how a lot of people were talking about. How he had bad on court antics but in all actuality Dennis rodman always knew what he was doing and he did it for a reason.
@@iggy9955 Had Michael Cage played on a team like the Bulls in the 90's, he would have eclipsed all of Rodman rebound records. Plus he could give you a few more buckets.
Dude said Rodman got ole' boy in the back and dude fought back. What film you watching? 7'7" player was throwing them elbows. That's what sparked the melee.
@@doc7569 Having big feet doesn't give you license to trip everybody. Having big hands doesn't mean you can block the ball and the shooter's hand. Rules are rules, and these announcers were racist AF.
Hector out here sounding like Kamala Harris giving her updates on the Russia v Ukraine situation... "Russia is a big country in Europe, Ukraine is a smaller country in Europe" haha
Once Rodman gets in your head he lives there, whether it be slapping Zo on the ass or continuously tripping up / pulling Malone to the floor. Only player I ever saw guard Shaq in iso, no double just one forearm in his back without budging when Shaq was in diesel mode. Worm !
Stood up for himself? That’s a term you use when someone is inferior. Gheorghe is bigger and taller than Rodman. If anything it was Dennis who stood up for himself.
Webber has balls....maybe call another timeout Chris to cost your team the game. Rodman was in all these doods' heads 24/7!! Great video my friend and thank you so much. Miss this NBA!!!
The bias in the announcers there at around the 5:00 mark is how I remember it as a teenager. They HATED Rodman for his playstyle and personality. Brutal how obvious it is.
but he's so tall that whenever he raises his arm a bit the elbow is at Rodmans head height, and Rodmans head is there to catch it of course, Rodman very well knew what and why he was doing, it just didn't work out, refs also know him :D
dude was so freakin tall that just his natural block out always put his bows in someones face. How do you penalize someone for that? Rodman clearly worked the situation to his favor on that one.
no he is definitely taking advantage of his height to throw his elbows around knowing his elbows are at face height of most of the other players, watch again
One thing about it, in spite of Rodman's issues, the fans still didn't go home disappointed, because the bulls were still the winners. Plus, whoever got Rodman's jersey must have gone home extra happy!
I still haven't seen a time that rodman continued to fight after the whistle. Probably happened, but for him it was just the game. Once they whistle blew, he was hands off. Not anything like how he was portrayed back in the day.
Credit to Muresan because one of Rodman's greatest skills was getting under the other guy's skin and getting them to throw a punch. I wish this kind of NBA would return. Imagine how some of the stars of today would respond to Rodman.
