He picked this song, because he was baffled of this woman`s strength. Learned the song & lyrics in four days. Yoshiko Yamaguchi was an extraordinary girl. She was a great star in china. After she was kicked out of china as a chinese born with japanese heritage. She had a two decade long career as a japanese politician.
The first time he performed this in the Singer, I cried. I still do every time I watch it. I could feel the sadness, though I didn't know the story. You're right again in saying that Dimash is a storyteller. I was amazed at what you said about that part that was the "the shriek of the woman" in anguish. Now that I hear the song again, I could connect with it and agree with you. My, you're such a sensitive soul! One of your best reactions, so far!
There are emotional performances, technically perfect performances and entertaining performances. He combine all three of them and it makes him as powerful as a nuclear bomb. His ability to mixes pop, rock, opera, rap, hip hop and r&b music, in his own unique way makes him a favorite singer to fans of any style of music. Dimash is like a bullet with a shifted center - he enters through the ears and eyes, passes through the brain, pierce the heart and stuck into the soul. You do not need to know the language, to be able to feel the emotions, which he inject into the audience with his incredible talent to recreates the text and the melody into a body dance. He paints pictures in your mind, only with his voice. That's Dimash. Thanks for that reaction!
@@CalebColesMusic я очень сильно извиняюсь если неправильно поняла. Вы тоже исполнили песню SOS? Не знаю как найти это исполнение, ваше пение. Если можно пожалуйста дайте ссылку 🤗
You know when men and women in the audience is crying, he has done his job. Words fail me because no adjectives are good enough to praise him. He is just a true entertainer in every way!
In Argentina, it's almost 4 in the morning, and the warning of your video appeared. This theme is very emotional, and Dimash demonstrates, in addition to his virtues as a singer, how excellent he is as an interpreter. Great analysis! (Sorry for my bad English) Greetings from Buenos Aires.
@@CalebColesMusic Now that I just gave you that link, I really think you should check out Koji's orginal version too. His voice has an even more haunting cry to it...it just doesn't have Dimash's beautiful runs that he added to the song. 😍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A9o4jfHX6rE.html
A lot of people will say to skip episode 5 (Uptown Funk) because it's a little bland but I say how about a double feature episode with episode 5 and 6 (Adagio) together?
Thank you for your analysis. Autumn Strong (Late Autumn), Daididau (Bastau Concert) and Daybreak (Bastau Concert) always bring me tears. Dimash conveys the emotional story-telling with great detail. Daybreak at Singer 2017 was difficult for Dimash since he was sick. But his Bastau performances were just awesome.
Great analysis again Caleb. Thanks so much. This happens to be my personal favorite of Dimash. It's not one of his famous songs, but absolutely beautifully sung, in my humble opinion. And if you know the story behind it, as you took the time to discover, it's just that much more beautiful. Really excited about your SOS cover. Thank you for all the hard work you've put in to doing this.
Joshua Burba- my favorite too.i didn't know the English words for years but didn't need to.Then when i saw the translation, it made it even more emotional.its sad, letting go, grief, loving someone.I cry most times I hear this.i am a very emotional person.as I'm listening now, the tears are coming.Dimash never gets old.he lifts my spirit up.God bless you.🌻🤎😘
I really enjoy your reactions.....it's nice to see someone who can comment from a singer's perspective. Gloria Wu's channel is very informative, however, when (and if) you do "Unforgettable Day", I hope you do the original from The Singer - Hunan TV (and maybe look at Gloria's story behind the song before or later) cause during one of the highlights, she keeps overlaying different videos of Dimash at different ages singing and I feel it takes away from the moment if you've never seen the performance before. Just my opinion. I'm sure just as many people would disagree lol. Greeting from Chicago!
@@CalebColesMusic Hi) I have watched lots of reactions to Dimash, but it's the first time I enjoyed it that much to subscribe. Recommend Sholpan Tabaeva channel, she follows Dimash for a long time and has interesting videos: ru-vid.com/show-UCc3aIBhpBw0fyVyWEAAMdNA
I agree with your comments, the same applies for Daididau, one gets a better feel for the song by watching the original video from the Singer, where it shows the band's involvement. I never knew they were fellow music students with Dimash in the past.
Fabulous reaction and analysis! Can't wait for adagio and your SOS. Will share your channel as much as possible, luv your channel and looking forward to other artists, but dimash is AWESOME. Good day
It's one thing to have great vocal technique and range, it's another to figure out how to use it. Others who might have significant skills usually gave up and stuck to one tone or just a part of their range. Dimash used to want to do it all in every song if possible. This is very risky if the voice fails to execute a difficult transition at some critical moment but also that the interpretation will get lost amidst the technique. This song showed his mastery of both artistry and technique to create something both deeply moving and astonishingly beautiful. No one can coach someone into a performance like this and no arranger can take credit for it because so much is what is done by the singer. It comes from within Dimash and is, to my ears unprecedented and unparalleled. This is the kind of performance that deserves to be heard on the world stage.
The original songwriter has performed a very different, simpler version of this song that is very touching. He is a well respected Japanese singer and songwriter.
His mother is more responsible for his training as she was an opera singer and understood the voice and discipline, knowing and teaching power, range and most of all control of the vocal cords and understanding what exactly is going on at every moment and note. How to breathe and control the diaphragm and release of air volume. So it is not just Dimash and his ability, without the training of his mother his ability would just be average. So give credit to where it is do, to his mother. She laid the foundation for Dimash, and now as a man, he will have to grow into his own style as a performer, but the foundation came from many years of training since childhood and I would even believe while he was still within his mother as she sang ….he listened.
@@jamesbarfield6870 His mother played an important role in his live as a singer, also his father, but he was raised by his Grandparents. It is a tradition. Now , it was his Grandmother the one that make sure he attend music classes. She was the one who take him to music school every day even when she was not feeling good because her legs pain. Great and lovely lady.
Thank you for reacting to this. Please try Sinful Passion, Diva Dance, or Unforgettable Day at Gakku. Also Meaning of Eternity is fantastic, but it is not live. More please.......👍
Hi Caleb! This is one of my favorite Dimash performances! The emotion he sends out is off the charts! Gets me teary eyed every time! Another great reaction! Thank you! Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you, beautiful reaction .. 👍👍👍 Dimash succeeds to tell a story with his body language and especially his voice. So much feeling, so many emotions. Every song he sings is a roller coaster ride of emotions ... (Sorry, my english is not so god.. )
Great ! You looked at it from a perspective I haven't seen before. Episodes 5 + 6 are in English, but 7 + especially 8 are also helped by Gloria Wu's information. I have even seen people advise reactors to skip Ep.5 "Uptown Funk". It wasn't his strong suit, and almost got him voted out of the competition. Ep.6 "Adagio", which he won, was his big comeback.
Thanks Caleb for reacting to this phenomenal song. I always enjoy listening to your genuine reaction and comments to Dimash😍😘. You are the one that i always look forward to seeing. This song is just so so beautiful that always makes me cry.
A storyteller that is Dimash, wait until you hear Daybreak( true story) but please look at the one not from the Singer but from the Bastau concert from him! He was sick in the singer for Daybreak and the Bastau concert was amazing! Thank you,see you soon!😉
I think after aaaall the reactions I've been watching, yours are my favorite !! Thank you for taking the time to fully appreciate Dimash's talent to the smallest finest details 🤗
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 did you know the pitch was altered down on this video? I suggest listening to it without her channel just on your own. Great reaction! Looking forward to hear your version of SOS
❤️❤️❤️One of my favorite songs of Dimash because you really get to hear all the colors in his amazing voice, and his voice is enough for me to listen to. Don't need a lot of drama. As you say so well... he is a great story teller and uses his voice, his emotions and heart to reach out to his listener. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the breakdown and details.. it helps me appreciate the technicalities he uses when he sings. The emotions are easier. He's the complete bundle isn't he. The Leonardo of voice.
Great reaction as always👏🏻 thank you I love your explanation 🥰 you're the first reactor that is not about to cry with this song even I cried the first time I saw it😊🥰but I love your reactions 💖💙👋🏻
Hi Caleb, lovely to see another reaction to Dimash. I have been following Dimash since The Singer. Apart from his vocal prowess he is a terrific showman, an entertainer like no other and each time he brings something new to his songs. I am an "old" dear lol. I hope to hear your version of S.O.S. soon. Take care always.
G'day m8 😊 the King of vocals will never dissapoint you...every song he sings is mind blowing ❤💚💙💜 can't wait till you get that single out 😆😆😆 Please react to Katrina Velarde's cover of. Never Enough. You can find her easily on her RU-vid channel....take care m8.
Caleb, Great reaction and I am so glad you used Gloria Wu's story like I suggested and I hope you will do the same for episode 8 Daybreak. There will be requests for reacting to Daybreak from Bastau concert but PLEASE don't because Gloria is the ONLY one with the story of the song and the problem Dimash had the day of the performance. Both are VERY emotional.
I would actually suggest that he watches the backstory info on Gloria Wu's channel and then switch to Bastau for the actual performance. Best of both worlds, so to speak. I personally prefer the Bastau version because Dimash can and does give his all in that performance and it's magical to witness. I also would like him to pick as many songs as he can from Dimash's official youtube channel and the Bastau version is there with subtitles. Dimash deserves all the traffic in the world on his channel. :)
I really loved your centered and 'gear' analysis (how Dimash's voice can go anyway it wants). I never thought about it like that, but it really makes sense! So, I"m really excited for when you get to "Adagio" (Episode 6) and "Daybreak" (Episode 8/Bastau) (both are highly, emotionally charged, story-telling songs). Now, "Uptown Funk" (Episode 5) is not my favorite (but you have to like Bruno Mars), and overall not one of his best ranked songs in the Singer competition, but I'm eager to see what you have to say. I really do love your reactions! This song is actually my dad's favorite, so I want to say double thanks for reacting to it (and Dimash)! :D
Hi Caleb, Totally excellent reaction to this beautiful song, this is amongst my favourites of all the Singer performances and of the hundreds since .. I'm a guy and have watched this hundreds of times with reactions and each time I'm suddenly aware of wet cheeks, happened again just watching you react !! I agree Dimash has this knack of getting the emotion across to us no matter the language.👌👌👌👌👌😊😊
Caleb, thank you for so much appreciated. Dimash, so at a young age, deserves more and more praise. Dimash is a holiday, the sun, the air, beautiful flowers ... He opened the way to happiness for everyone !!!❤❤❤
Caleb Love your reactions to Dimash! This song is so emotional I love it, also have and Dimash sings it phenomenal ! I guess you would have guessed by now I am a dear of Dimash, his voice always takes me to another place! I am so glad Caleb you have found him and are starting from the beginning reacting to Dimash! His concert in Arnau was amazing, he shared with us! Blessings Karen❤️🌹💕🇱🇷🙏🏻🇰🇿🌎🦅☮️💖. 🇱🇷
Episode 5 is Uptown Funk. Dimash performed it but it wasn't his choice or to his taste at that time. He has said that he knows has a great job that he loves but the hardest thing for him is to sing something that he is not feeling.
@@CalebColesMusic Waiting for your reaction to the Episode 6🔥 Cause it is Adagio😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 By the way, Dimash can play 6 musical instruments, including piano😎 Even Lara Fabian watched the video and praised Dimash😎 Igor Krutoi, worldwide famous russian composer, who appreciate Lara and how she sings his music, performed with Dimash in Moscow with the same songs. That was amasing😍🔥 Sinful passion🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Love like a dream🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Mademoiselle Hyde🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Ascolta la voce🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5e8dL03kEiE.html Любовь уставших лебедей🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥... There is so much to react, cause Dimash works really hard❤
Hello Caleb! Thank you for the reactions about our Dimash! To say the truth ( it is only my opinion) I want to hear you singing your own songs, with your own way! And because you are a songwriter too, we want to hear a song composed from you Caleb!
Thanks for reacting and commenting on what Dimash does for this song. Autumn Strong is actually one of my favorite. I listened to Jacky Cheung's first but Dimash's rendition is my next favorite.
@@CalebColesMusic The original song was written and sung by Koji Tamaki in Japanese. Jackie took the song and translated it into Mandarin and made it famous in China. My favorites are Dimash and Koji's versions. Here's a link to the original. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A9o4jfHX6rE.html
indeed so much finesse and delicacy of emotion - also stunning he brought so much nuance given that it's the first time he had ever sung in Chinese and he learned it in one week!
I thought the song sounded slightly slower than it should, and to my surprise, the version you are reacting to IS in fact in a slightly lower key than the original upload, and also slightly slower from measuring the length of just a few of bars of singing. Now, the thing I don't get is why I thought it sounded slower than it should be, when I've seen many people react to the exact version you're reacting to, and never noticed it before, haha. Anyway, Dimash sounds great in both versions, but check out the original upload also to get what I assume is the correct pitch. :)
I'll listen your cover... I think it is immensely difficult to sing in such a slow tempo. Dimash is the few to be able to evoke a breadth of emotions with this slow tempo
Yes wonderful song and great reaction once again. Amazing again to know he can’t speak Chinese. This was his first song he sung in Chinese and he had to learn how to sing it in a week. He won an award for his performance of this song too I believe.
Look forward to your SOS!,,,,,, you obviously have great sensitivity too - Dimash was about 22 here and yet although a young playful guy (as is fellow competitors loved) - he is very sensitive to his voice and the story and what he can tell as you say - thanks so much! :)
