Yes, you're so true. Dimash said himself he was not fully satisfied with the arrangement but he had a little time to co operate with the composer.

Celine Dion commented in one of her presentations that there was only one singer who sang this song better than her and that singer was called Dimash !!!! What a praise!!!!!

I feel sorry for the "extras" including dancers, orchestra, band members, etc. because I tune them out as if they don't exist. I have tunnel vision when it comes to Dimash and even the beautiful stage settings go unnoticed.

In an interview..Dimash mentioned that his Team that time doesn't have enough time to do new arrangement for this song...as a result..not so mch change frm the original...tho still a great performance.. Knowin' Dimash ..if he covers songs..he bring it to outerspace/anotherlevel

I never EVER liked this song before Dimash’s rendition. I’m still not too crazy about it, but he really got me connected, which I think is truly remarkable. His tone and all the subtle nuances he uses just captivate me. That first lower part was actually my fav! It gave another emotional layer to the song. And I agree about the arrangement, I also know that Dimash was part of it, but he commented they got notified last minute and so had not enough time to be properly prepared.

Hi Caleb, Ray Charles came to Italy a few years ago to participate in our most prestigious event, the San Remo Festival, strictly live. Ray arrived in Italy and locked himself in the hotel. His performance included 2 songs. A duet with the Italian singer and another song, I don't remember if this was a duet too. The Italian singer and the whole organization were desperate because in the 3 days before the performance, live nationally and in Europe, he did not show up for rehearsals. He arrived the same evening, greeted, shook hands and sat down at the piano. It was an incredible success, without rehearsal, without an apparent study and without knowing the singer. Dimash has the same artistic sensibility. He can arrive on a completely unknown stage and be at ease. I hope google translates well, a big hug from Italy

Dimash could have arranged this himself and maybe a better arrangement would have made him happy. To his credit, he took it to a whole different level although he did seem uncomfortable. I like the song but have never been a fan of Celine Dion so I was skeptical about enjoying this song. Dimash made me like it even more than I thought. Thanks for the vid Caleb.

Hi Caleb, have already checked out your latest music video and loved it, to anyone reading - please go watch! I have read that Dimash was asked by the original producer to perform this and worked with him directly on the arrangement, you know Dimash wouldn’t just want to do the original 😉 Also, I believe this was at a film festival and they were celebrating 20 years of the film Titanic, hence the cheesy staging... Can’t wait for some new Dimash, he is currently working on an album of Kazakh songs which should be out soon! Also an English song Love’s Not Over Yet which is being produced by Walter Afanasieff who also produced My Heart Will Go On. Hope this is all correct, someone will put it right if it’s not. 🤗🇬🇧

You are correct! Dimash said he had to work with the arrangement and the composer in hurry for the show. Hopefully he could perform it again but with more time to work on the arrangement.

Man, great reaction! I must agree with you on the stage set up. Dimash is that kinda guy you put on the stage and the way he sings pretty much will allow your mind to imagine and float away. I can close my eyes and listen to him sing the song and I can just see Titanic. The little boat was a bit cheesy - lol. I think it is very much a Chinese thing though to set up that way - I remember when I was an English teacher in China, whatever I used for materials to teach they would give me a ton more things to use for teaching. Not a bad thing, guess they like having that edge of creativity - fun times.

Totally agree with the ship. Though Chinese staging tends to lean towards over the top sometimes so this is actually...pretty minimalistic. You should see some of the Spring Festival Gala stages, completely ridiculous (and I'm saying this as a Chinese person, so please don't yell at me for being racist)

awesome breakdown regarding the arrangement choices. i agree dimash wasn't fully into his own yet in terms of arranging for his own voice. perhaps they were simply trying to maximally highlight dimash's range for the most fireworks. the staging is definitely schmaltzy, but that being said, celine too had a ship bow in her tours following 'titanic'. these earlier performances of dimash always remind me of raw, electric, immense talent such that he wants to include every potential firework possible, contrasted with the more recent performances where he's confident in his ability and connects more emotionally with the lyrics. all that being said, the 'you're here' moment is still phenomenal in dimash's voice, as is 'on' in the 'go on'. love that rich, resonant operatic tone there he even throws in a few celine hand flourishes and michael jackson spins, hah. as you're going back through some dimash, check out the cannes live performance of 'sos'. i think it fully captures dimah's ability to bring in an audience completely and masterfully. love your cover of 'madamoiselle hyde,' as well. and ps, love the curls!

Caleb, It looks like you haven’t watched Dimash performing Samaltau and SOS for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. It was filmed in his home studio due to the quarantine just a couple of months ago or actually i believe it was on his birthday because it was streamed live and after he performed he took questions but if I’m correct and you haven’t watched those performances yet please do because they are incredible and I know you will enjoy them! The instruments being played during Samaltau are extraordinary, you can just close your eyes and actually feel as though you’re outside in Kazakhstan listening to the wind, rain, hearing the different animals ect. and Dimash is siting on a piano stool with his legs crossed like he’s meditating. It truly is transcending and his performance of SOS is also perfection! Last but not least, I’ve watched your latest video and I absolutely love it and the song, but I’m a fan and love everything I’ve ever heard you do! Please let me know if you have already watched The Tokyo Jazz Festival & I just mossed it on your channel bc I would definitely like to see it!
