Dimash arrived second in The Singer but he won all possibile awards in China, Best Asia Singer, Best International Singer, Best Overseas Singer, Best Male Singer, Most popular international singer, etc.... They adore Dimash. Thinking that the video showing Dimash eating a pear in Shanghai Airport was seen by 200 millions in China in 24h, says all about their love for him.... Thank you for the comment. CBS lied to Dimash when he agreed to the competition with the promise there would be no children in the competition. Kazakhstan culture nurtures and mentors children, they do not have grown experienced adults competing against children. The trick with the show was keeping the competitors secret from each other. Dimash only discovered the deception during the semi-finals when he accidentally ran into one of the children in the hallway. He then tactfully withdrew from the competition even though he was the favorite to win due to the army of Dears voting for him. He walked away from a one million dollar prize in order to allow the children their chance to win. And the ridiculous "judges" were horrible and rude to Dimash for his decision to withdraw. And as an example of his beautiful nature, Dimash has never spoken badly about this horrible experience. The badly edited songs were also reprehensible. The tv audience never got to hear Dimash's complete songs or performances. After this experience, when asked if he would compete in another competition, he said no, never again.
China contest did not allow for non-Chinese to win, but he lost by one half of a point. Next year rules were changed that allowed Jessie J. to win. But, DIMASH clearly did win in the area most important huge fan base in China well into the millions, and overnight success and moved his career forward more than any other contestant on the show. Gave him international exposure. Brian May of Queen stated Freddie would be proud of DImash's performance of this song. This isn't the only song he made his own interpretation of and proved his musical talent and skill.

Las bases del concurso no permitían que ganara el invitado y Dimash lo era en ese entonces Dimash solo tenia 22 años los temas lo entregaba producción y él en una semana tenía que prepararlos con su propio estilo pero no perder el sello de la canción. Он был гостем самым молодым среди участников ШОУ титанов самых видных деятелей искусства. И в зале все пятьсот зрители судят и все имеют отношения к музыке. А второе место из за политике. Он был приглашён только раз выступить как гость. Димаш продолжил изучил песни за неделю на китайском языке превратил в шедевр.
As the DEARS below probably explained DIMASH came in 2nd due to cultural respect for older, established contestants. The rules were changed after that. I assume due to a few disgruntled audience/viewers.

He did win the war. The show had a rule against giving the cash prize to a foreigner. They didn't expect a foreigner to win, but they changed the rule the following year and kept inviting Dimash back for guest appearances. He became an overnight success in China, so who cares about the show title?

No one can beat Dimash. What happened here is that Dimash was invited as a guest to sing at this Chinese Contest for chinese nationals. Dimash was a guest not a contestant. The rules of the contest only allowed a chinese contestant to be selected as a winner. So the award was given to a chinese contestant not because they were better than Dimash but because of the rules of the contest. We all know that Dimash is simply the best, but his performance here is what launched his career. People were so impressed with his performances that he basically gain popularity overnight, and the rest is history!

I Am Singer in 2017 was a contest show between established professionals in China. They were short a singer for the show and had heard of Dimash who had won many awards in competitions in Eastern Europe invited him thing he'd get knocked out after the first song. To their surprise, he became a favorite and went on to the end. He only won second because he wasn't Chinese and was an unknown. But everyone knew he should have won. The very next day after that exposure to millions of viewers, he suddenly found his life had changed. He needed guards in public. Dimash had 8 hours to learn the song. He did not know English at all. Since then, he's learned English enough to do an interview without interpreter. This song won awards. As did Dimash for singing it. The guy is a rare phenomenon. The guy at the beginning said Dimash lures the audience. She replied, of course, he's very handsome. I believe there were several reasons why Dimash came in second. The show was a singing competition for professional Chinese singers and Dimash was invited to compete as a dark horse. He was the first foreigner and the youngest in the history of the show. The other singers were 12-39 yrs. his senior. The only people who even knew what he looked like were the producers and the team assigned to work with him, and the orchestra and backup singers. I watched the whole show, "The Singer 2017" just to be fair. He won the first two episodes and he should have won the first four. Some of the other singers said that it was stressful to sing after Dimash. Sandy Lin won first place. She does have a beautiful voice but did not compare to Dimash and she was loved and respected by the Chinese people. I hope you either have or will listen to Dimash sing "All By Myself, Adagio", and the song that he wrote at the age of 19, Unforgettable Day, as they were performed on The Singer 2017, and keep in mind he was only 22 yrs. old. The producers could not allow a first-time foreigner and the youngest competitor to win over their seasoned professionals. One of the producers said, " This horse is too dark." If you do watch these songs, they do have performances with cc for English subtitles. Also, got to give a big S/O to the orchestra and the backup singers...amazing. There is another song he sang, Autumn Strong. He awoke the morning of the performance and had lost his voice. They took him to the hospital and he got injections but said they were not really helping. He still performed and killed it.

Hi, I have just watched/listened to all of your reactions of Dimash, and it’s so good to see someone who really appreciates him. I have been a ‘Dear’, a follower of Dimash, for over 5 years, and he still amazes me. I have a few suggestions for you which I know you’ll love. Be With Me is a music video, where Dimash sings, acts and raps! It has a more modern vibe, which I think you’ll like. Also, he does a MJ tribute called Give Me Your Love. There are a few videos, but the one where he is wearing a white suit, I love the best. He’s on stage with a group of dancers, it’s brilliant. Something completely different is Ikanaide, which he sang in Japanese at the 20th Tokyo Jazz Festival. It is just Dimash and a microphone, no band, no audience, completely stripped back. This is one of my favourite songs, and I love what he’s wearing. There are so many songs, you’ve got your work cut out 😂 Dimash is nearly 29 years old now, and has come so far since he appeared on The Singer competition. He is becoming known all over the world, and is making great connections with famous composers, producers etc. So his star is definitely rising higher and higher, which he so deserves, he has worked so hard from a very young age. Eddie Mercury would have been proud, he had a generous heart. I can't say which is better, Queen/Mercury or Dimash! You should stay with that show in China and take a listen to Lionel Richie's 'Hello'. Dimash does like here, he makes it his own, with a changes, but some additional yum-yum 👍👌🥰
At that time the winner, for the next year, would servce as a cultural rep for China, hence non Chinese would not win. Dimash had been invited as a publicity stunt by one of the producers. Due to public outcry, the rules were changed the next season. The singer that "beat" him was a well loved Chinese singer. Dimash won in the long run since it propelled him into world notice. BTW, after this performance, the othe cast members gave him knee pads.
He finished second only because he wasn't Chinese :) So technically he won.. He is undoubtedly the best singer alive. He is a true artist with god given sick vocal abilities who has worked his whole life to get to this level of greatness and still going strong. I believe he didn't win because the rules at the time only allowed a Chinese singer to win. The rule was changed the next year I think! Glad you are enjoying Dimash so much!

So, China is a comunist country so they have other rules, so he didn' t loose becose off his talents ,you know what i mean, but China made him popular in my opinion.
