This ending made Dimitri's death more poetic and worth of a movie, and somehow feels like a more canonical death for him. But hearing him plea pathetically in the ship before being brutally shot feels too damn good. Also Roman must stay alive
It's also more poetic for Nico. He lived in Liberty City for long enough to decide to give up his principles for good money (and Roman had advised him to do so btw). And now he paid the price for this.
@@Gan3eLNiko never really had principles. After all the killing and human trafficking he could have just come to Liberty to work and study and have lived a normal life, but even knowing all of this, he still chose to easy way every, EVERY single time.
The Roman death ending is depressing but i like it more than the "good" ending Because when Roman die, it has an impact on you and on Niko, you REALLY want to kill Dimitri after that, like Niko do. And also it's kinda poetic and ironic that Roman has to be the one who die, since he's one of the very few characters in this game who isnt a chaotic psychotic murderer And in a sad way, it make sense that Niko arrive in Liberty City without a penny, and has to live in a shithole but with his cousin and finally end up being rich and living in luxury appartment but alone because of the way of life he choose In the other hand, when Kate die i couldnt care less, i was just sad for Niko but even for him, it is far less depressing than seeing Roman go i think
It really was sad since Roman was killed. I know Kate doesn’t really do much after the ending when you choose money over revenge, but it’s sad when she gets killed as well.
@@Kanderson96 as annoying Roman can be, I played the money option since it was first time playing the game in the past and I didn’t know what happened until Niko woke up after the wedding apologizing to Roman. It was challenging though to finish it though but I rather have roman live. Since later in the game after Roman’s death, you stop seeing her.
3:26 That look Niko gives Jacob is heartbreaking. "You won", Jacob said. Niko's eyes say it all. "Win what? My cousin is death, the woman I love doesn't speak to me anymore, all my bosses cut ties with me or are dead, I'm living in Liberty City with nothing else to live for. How I won, exactly?"
Dimitri never made it this far in my playthrough. I went to the very cargo ship I was smuggled into America on and put probably 600 bullets into his corpse for everything he put Niko and Roman through. RIP Kate, she took one for the team.
@@sibusisomkwanazi3124 GTA IV is fundamentally different from the other GTAs in the sense that it takes itself more seriously, the story is not about a badass criminal, but a traumatised guy having his life spiral out of his control. Sure, having Roman survive is more gratifying but it never feels like the story is intended to go that way,
the only GTA when you don’t end up a millionaire with a big mansion and cars, instead Niko lose Roman or Kate, innocent people who paid for his life of crime.
I have played the game literally like 100 times and have i never chose the money always Revenge to keep roman alive and plus having money in this game is not really a big deal like GTA V
And a plane crashing down in New York city… (That only happened when you choose the revenge ending because the revenge ending is canon and because that plane is bulgarin plane in the ballad of gay Toney ending with Luis kill bulgarin and all)
you dont need a mod. 1) choose revenge instead the deal 2) after you beat him in the shooting on the ship select the deagle for the execution and get a kill animation ta-da Niko like the cold badass he is will shoot him first in both legs before giving the final round - then you can have your personal time with the corpse.
Agreed. In my opinion the story was so much more captivating than gta v. I feel like GTA V took so many step backs from IV, and that V was designed to appeal much more towards 13 year old kids.
@@lukemorgan6166 Yes, Kate's ending is inconsistent with Niko's character development, and no interactions have been shown where the protagonist becomes so attached to Kate (not to mention the fact that the viewer usually doesn't either by not introducing him too much into the history). So yes, don't get carried away by your emotions, argumentatively this ending is much better Sorry if my wording is a bit strange by the way, I'm translating this using Google Translate xD
@@masilvac77Roman's ending is more impactful, but Kate's ending is also good too. We cannot forget that the story of the game revolves around more than just the main missions. The side-missions and the hangouts are also part of the game's story. You could literally date Kate in the game and bond with her before the last mission, which means that Niko did create an emotional bond with her
I'll be honest, this is a much better ending for gta IV compared to killing jimmy. I did get the revenge ending, but really thats only because I liked Roman as a character more than Kate. But i think this is a much better death of Dimitri compared to at the ship where he's just treated like a normal enemy.
I remember when I had beaten GTA IV for the firs time, I got the point where Dimitri and I were face to face and I just shot him with an RPG. I remember he went flying and was one fire but then it cut to this scene lol
Gta 4 ends in a cliffhanger we dont know what happened to Niko after the events and never mentioned again , Lester gives only hint bit nothing is known definitely I hope GTA VI tells us more about his Life and if Roman is even alive (I consider deal ending as non canon)
If you see his lifeinvader in GTA5,, he is alive along with Roman. Niko is apparently working as a taxi driver. This shows he finally gave up living a life in crime. He got out of it and worked at a normal job.
I prefer to think this is the true canonical ending. The theme of this game is about letting grudges go, only when Niko decides to finally listen to Roman, Roman ends up dead for it. Pure tragedy.
Its a grey shade of choosing money for just the chance of a new beginning or stay true to your principles and kill the rats - its a grey shade because Niko never wins - Niko already lost when you started the game as wonderfully played out in the Darko mission no matter how you dedide there as well.
Well, considering the fact, Niko might've commited a lot of war crimes.. K!lled many innocent people and even confessed k!lling kids to Mrs. Faustin... Deal ending is quite poetic.. Niko would survive with the fact that His brother, who was lively, optimistic and innocent his brother was would remind him of the innocent Bosniaks he and his friends k!lled during the war.. It'll haunt him forever.
There are two endings. But the revenge ending is canon. In the revenge ending you disobey the order of Pegorino to do the heroin deal with the Russians because Niko knows Dmitri is a rat. He kills Dmitri instead - Pegorino then kills Kate McReary on Romans wedding in a drive-by for disobying him. You kill Pegorino in the last mission. In the deal ending you do the deal for Pegorino but Dmitri betrays him and rats him out to the Commission of the 5 Mafia families - The families kill Pegorino for working with the Russians which tried to take over the heroin market from the mafia. Dmitri hires a hitmen which kills Roman at his wedding while the hitmen is fighting with Niko because you got the money from the heroin deal which was meant to end in Dmitris hands together with the heroin. You kill Dmitri in the last mission.
Who cares. He's a snake, backstabbed even his own lifelong "friends". What did you think he was gonna do to Niko, a hired gun as his convenient scapegoat?
