@@ElderScrolls7 You've got to be kidding, right? Are you just being contrarian, or do you really believe that Manowar compares to anything Dio or Lemmy ever produced?
@@kansasarkansas4004 I love Lemmy and Dio, but I don't think either of them founded the best metal band in history. However, Dio, at one time, was a member of the best metal band in history. I'll let you figure out the rest.
I agree with rest in peace to both tho I wouldn’t say “gone too soon”. Lemmy and Dio both lived long adventurous badass lives that most musicians who actually do die too soon don’t often get to fully experience, and died much later at the ages most do die nowadays (70 and 67 respectively) I’m not saying that to be negative just saying they didn’t leave us early before they got to show their full potential; they LIVED their full potential.
It is more akin to ac/dc, which is straight up rock and roll, id never call motorhead or ac/dc metal, just hard rock. Motorhead sounds like metal because of the way lemmy plays.
dude. his speech skill is over 95. in their european tours he used to memorise the words he would say in every country's main language and spoke in that language for about 3 minutes on stage. no wonder he writes most of the lyrics lol.
Met joey 2 times. Saw manowar 5 times including mythical magic circle festival 1 and 2. Saw Ronnie 5 times solo and with black sabbath Saw Lemmy 6 times. i feel SO lucky they are gods
I saw them all live with their bands countles times and I met all of them in person. Thinking of the fact that there is only one left alive of them makes me sad. Legends!
Lol Lemmy just cuts down the machismo of Joey DeMaio " I dunno, we play Rock n Roll, my band does anyways". Nothing against Manowar, but its fuckin Lemmy man
Such a nice interview , all very respectful. It's nice that with RU-vid now you can see professional teachers / voice coaches etc analyzing heavy rock songs (and singers) and showing a great appreciation for the skill and musicianship involved.
Jesus Christ, look how young they where😯Ronnie and Lemmy... Man they lived there lifes and delivered th goods and loved what they did. Gone too soon.... I know we are all mortal, but death is such a drag... It takes away our best friends and leaves us in a void..Thats why music is such great gift. What they left for us their music will live on forever.However. CATCH THE RAINBOW👊
So, I was with them on this tour. In the comments some idiots try to say that Lemmy is this and that, or DIO is this and that, and of course people who never met him say Joey is an asshole. It shows how stupid some people are. These guys got along pretty well. Joey and DIO knew each other since years back. Joey was working with Sabbath in 1980. MANOWAR had been on tour with Motorhead before. Just imagine this line up instead of acting like morons. DIO opened, Motorhead followed and MANOWAR headlined. That tour was THE tour. By the way, Joey is the nicest person off stage. They all are/were.
@@melodiaseternas4132 When people say that Joey is very humble offstage, it's true! Being humble and polite person offstage with the fans is different from being in fight with other bands and musicians. Dio also was very humble with his fans, and also could smash different musicians, like with Ozzy. So for Joey being jerk with other musicians is totally ok. This concerns the business side of music and competition between bands.
A lot of people here in the comments seem to have forgot that manowar formed through dio , dio introduced joey to the other guys to form a band , heck they even have a song about it , go listen to the song manowar and you'll understand a bit more about the history , hail and kill and stay true ! =T=
Yep. Joey got the idea of starting his own band when he was a bass tech for Sabbath during the ‘Heaven and Hell’ tour. He was introduced to Ross the Boss on the same tour.
Miss Ronnie and Lemmy! I met the both of them through Joey. I was Fortunate to spend a lot of time with them on “The Monsters of The Millennium Tour.” What I would give to go back and do it again. RIP. Ronnie and Lemmy!😪
@@stila1123 I've met him and spoken to him multiple times, and from my experience, he's lovely. Maybe he's mellowed with time, idk, but he's a very nice guy
@@StaticYonder yeah, I hear ya. But, try living and working with him. Trust me, you haven’t met the true Joey. And, I say this with love, Joey is an ass hole. Period.
It was so fun to hear them talk about vikings, it made me proud to be a swede and part of that heritage, and yes we still do try to make the best of ourselves with what we have so i don't really think that philosophy is lost on us maybe some but at least not on me i think!
Joey actually is a very intellingt dude, but he has had kind of struggles with the music industry and tends to act tough as his band impies to be, so it's kind of his gimmick...
Dio's comment about country fans still holds up I mean god damn there are so many country singers who sound the same but are megastars because they have those loyal fans
It sound like you know them... Truer words have never been spoken. Ronnie was one of the kindest persons I’ve ever met. Lemmy was one crazy fucker. And, Joey is still trying hard.
Joey is such an interesting person. an amazing musician and songwriter, incredibly well-spoken, but kinda insane in his own way. I have huge respect for him for his music and musicianship, though he may be a dick sometimes. and you can make fun of Joey's goofy masculinity and cheesy viking references all you want, but few old metal bands sounded as tight as Manowar live
RIP Lemmy and Ronnie. Two greats of the Metal world. Joey is great talking and a genuine guy who cares about his fans. I was lucky to see all three bands. I hope RD and Lemmy are rocking in heaven.
LEMMY RESPECTED HIS FANS! I REMEMBER HIM TELLING THEM/US OVER THE MIC FOR KTTPING HIM SBLE TO DO WHAT HE LOVED TO DO. mAKING RECORDING & PERFORMING (HE DID SO WELL) WITH MOTORHEAD OF COURSE THE GREATEST PUNK HARD ROCK &METAL BAND ! THAT WILL BE WITH US FOREVER OR AS LONG AS WE CAN HEAR THEIR RECHORDS! LEGENDS OF ROCK& ROLL OR WHATEVER IT IS YOU WANT TO CALIT THE PUBLIC GETS WHAT THEY DESERVE NOT WGAT THEY DEMAND UNLESS THEY ALL DECIDE RO BE A BUSINESSNOT A BAND! (AGENT oRANGE) !
You manage to get three icons of metal (and rock and roll apparently) on the same couch, and then you select an interviewer who doesn't have the faintest notion of the genre. What a waste. They should have just turned it into a casting couch...
My heart bleeds when I think about Dio and Lemmy! What is so sad is that they were the last of the line and who could replace them in this generation? Thank god, Joey is still alive and well but 10 years from now maybe he will be gone or retired. I feel sad just to think about it...
He was always drunk but never crossed the line , he knew his limit and never went over that , no one wants to be the drunk guy hanging above the toilet covered with puke
Nobody can argue that DeMaio's speech power is cranked to eleven, my man would and could sweep every active US politician under the rug even in his 70's today.
