In about 2004 my partner finally decided to unbox the personal things a famous painter and best friend had kept stowed away in a garage and which he had left to him after having passed away many years before. Obviously the objects kept in a garage wee not going to be of great monetary value, but in his case held the possibility of bearing some fascinating memories of his very interesting and, in every way possible, colourful life. To keep this short: there was a cardboard box that had belonged to his beautiful and always elegant wife, which contained amongst other nostalgic objects one empty bottle of Miss Dior Eau de Toilette. At that point I had never heard of the scent before and of course my interest was sparked immediately. To my great joy I found that the perfume was still made and I purchased a 30ml eau de toilette, because I wanted the experience of wearing what this lovely woman whose photografies and gorgeous images of her in her husband's paintings I had admired so much, wore herself. And we could only guess why she might have kept this one little bottle and no other till the end of her life.... The first experience of the edt was quite overwhelming. I loved the perfume instantly but wore it very rarely because of its strength and character. Later my boyfriend started truely loving it. I am very grateful for the experience because I got to know a still much fuller version of the scent. What is sold now as an edt is only a shadow of the former version. That is why I am thrilled to hear from you that the extrait is in such good shape. I will have to try it!
In the meantime I have found an edt in the old formulation in a lovely little perfumería in southern Spain. The bottle is probably between 15 and 20 years of age. It has lost some of the boldness of its topnotes which does no terrible harm. The wonderful condition of the juice has been proven to me by a bumble bee which kept following me around in obvious conviction of finding what bumble bees are looking for on one of the first sunny afternoons of the year and on which I first wore it.
A few days ago I found a vintage Diorissimo EdT from around 1980 in perfect condition! It's pure heaven - I wonder how bad the current formulation is... Thank you very much for this really inspirational video- I can't tell you how much joy your videos bring to me ❤
Today, on the strength of your pitch, I tried a blotter of Habit Rouge, and for the first hour I felt assaulted, but in these hours later, it has grown on me tremendously, it is so warm. The other I tried was Diorissimo, and it is sublime. Thank you for so happily leading us to these gorgeous treasures.💐
My favourite Dior is Hypnotic Poison. I’ve still got my original (now vintage) bottle, which I eke out. Recently bought a rollerball version of it which is nice but lacking something. Please review hypnotic poison.
Thank you for another fantastic review. I tried the current Diorissimo (edt or edp I don't remember) and all I can remember is that hissing paint thinner note. You have convinced me to hunt down a vintage sample.
i have a lot of love left for dior even though i, like many, worry that they're potentially taking a hacksaw to their amazing heritage in a way that other brands aren't. :-\ in any case - as to your question about having smelled the extraits. i was at my parents' place recently because my mother is ill and in the hospital. i wanted to take a perfume in for her for her to wear, and was surprised to find an empty miss dior extrait bottle on my mother's dresser. surprised because when i was young she wore many classics - no. 5, joy, etc. - but in later years her tastes seemed to have turned somewhat pedestrian. in any case - the miss dior bottle was empty, but i opened it up anyway, and out came the most delicious, dry, elegant chypre floral smell i could ever imagine. i recently got a tester of miss dior that turned out to be the reformulated candyfloss dross, and i would have never in a million years guessed this is what the original smells like. and though i find the bottle a bit twee, tacky even (sorry!) i'm now thinking, esp. as a huge dry chypre fan, that i need to get a bottle for myself stat. oh, and i'm realizing as i'm writing this, that this may have been part of a set of extraits she received as a gift - a few years ago she let me have two tiny poison and dune extrait bottles, which i've been assiduously saving and haven't even tried out yet because i want to make sure i have the time and am in the right headspace when i can fully experience them. given your review, i think i'm going to have to get over myself and test them soon!
Missed another live, guess I need to reactivate my Insta ONLY so I get these alerts on time, RU-vid just not cutting it! As much as I love Poison, the memory of it was a bit marred by the bad breath of the guy I was dating in the late '80s. I need to buy another bottle if for no other reason, to heal my bruised psyche and reinstate this masterpiece to its due glory! Such a great video. Either we can't go wrong loving these vintage scents so much, or we are just getting old😂!
Wonderful video, so glad the contemporary versions are still worthy of their heritage. I have a soft spot for Miss Dior, I get also lotv from my vintage Esprit de partum. Both this and Diorrissimo esprit I acquired are in great condition and affordable, MD 75ml was £37,
You are funny! My husband at the time though it smells like "rotting fruit" and called me a fragrance terrorist! I still adore poison of course. Not around my ex! He feels it coming! Ad campaign: "Poison is my Potion". 35 years later that stays with me...fabulous! I'm having the best time today smelling my life! Thanks.
My mother was wearing jadore, and so I , absolutely love it , not sure because of her or because it’s just perfect, and it fits so well on my skin no perfume can be compared for me , changing all the time perfumes but always come back to jadore 😅
I wish I watched this video couple of months ago.. I was hesitating between untested extrait and edt of poison. After reading fragrantica reviews and testing edt again, I went for it. And I love it! It's beautiful, but there is no limit to perfection and now I need the extrait as well! 😄 Also I recently tested Miss Dior edt, and was impressed with how good it was. It's still got teeth, first 20 min on paper are fantastic! Unfortunately later it becomes a little too heavy, like vanilla/patchouli heavy, kind of shalimar base and I can't see myself wearing it. But that's not to say it's a bad perfume. On the contrary, it's one of the decent chypres which are still available now. I bet the extrait is even better!
Lovely video, with my favourite brand and favourite concentrarion too! 🎉 I came to the conclusion Dior is my favourite brand when I realized the bottles I would never part with are my Diorissimo 80's splash bottle and my Hypnotic Poison bottles.. there are others I would also try to keep at all costs but those are the first to come to mind I couldn't resist buying a bottle of Midnigh Poison elixir, I suppose it is an extrait?? I am very anxious for it to arrive
Thanks for the fantastically insightful video Persolaise, given Diorissimo is in suboptimal shape, do you think Dioressence and Diorella are still as good as they once were?
Hello!! I own a riffled 50ml Bottle of miss dior with a white cap on it that Sprays with pressure. Its a stunning fragrance where i can detect real ambra and musk. But now there is also a miss dior in a cylindric big bottle with a black/white banderole and a version with a structured glass bottle and almost orange Perfume. I dont know the differences. Do you? I only know that the new one is crap. But i bought diorissimo in a black/white banderole 80ml(??) Bottle and the scent is very weak and lasts not long even it was originally sealed.
I want to try the J'Adore extrait so bad! My favorite is J'Adore l'Or Essence de parfum (2017)!!! I would love to try the 2010 version! Have you tried these both? Anyway, thank yoi for sharing!!❤️
Hello Persolaise, I would appreciate if you could either compare or suggest me one of the Miss Dior Orginales from the current concentrations of extrait de parfum, esprit de parfum and eau de toilette. I liked eau de toilette, however, I have no possibility to sniff the rest. I would order it online. Thank you for the wonderful videos! Love, Nina
@persolaise I think that you misunderstood me. I am not talking about the current Miss Dior marketed by Natalie Portman, but rather the Originale. You are talking about the “Originale” Parfum version in your video. However, if you haven’t sniffed the other concentrations of this “Originale” version, then I understand that it is difficult to suggest something. Nevertheless, thank you for all your wonderful videos!
Do you know the Dior Addict (2002) parfum extrait edition? I didn't even know there was such a thing, there is no information about it on the internet. It was limited for sure
I am new to your channel and enjoy your videos very much! How does one go about to find that perfect perfume? I react to a lot of the notes but its hard to pin point which ones. Any suggestions? I have been looking for a great feminine, soft, light ,warm, floral!! That's a lot lol! Oh boy, where do I begin?? Thank you again for the education .
