The rope work in not that impressive. Recommend "Marlinespike Seamanship" by H. G. Smith for all kinds of plain and fancy ropework.

This one was a fun watch for me. My dad was a upholsterer for Sealink/British Rail back in the 70's and he made me a duffle bag to use for school, and watching you use some of the same methods (and the same size scissors lol) took me right back to a being a 6yr old watching with his dad with awe Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

They look good, really cool use for leftover materials. Maybe an icepick pocket for version 2? This video makes me want to learn how to use the industrial sewing machine I picked up for free last year.

Great project. i learned to splice in my pipefitter apprenticeship rigging class, back in the 80's. it's a great way to finish and it will wow some folks too

From what I've seen here, Pfaff is still numero uno. Viewing this,I wish I had not sold my nearly new 463. Boy, that Cordura is sure tough on needles and shears.

A plywood bottom to those bags would make them more stable. As it is, the cloth bottom bulges under the weight of the hardware making an uneven surface to rest on. Otherwise, dang good idea and well executed.

Agreed. Also, I think some kind of crimped connector on the rope connection would be nice not only for durability but also to fit the Diresta “made to last” aesthetic

Hauling fasteners seems like a great durability test of Cordura. And those bags are looking tough!👍 P.S. Your "trash" rope splicing is still miles better than many of our best attempts. 😅

Finally maybe I have a tip for you: when you are beginning or ending a stitch, you should reverse the beginning and ending so that it has extra stitches. They will be less likely to ravel or come undone in the future.

Been wanting to make something like this. Basically replicating the Klein canvas bags. I need one that's medium size for trash. I do a lot of Cat6 cable work and this type of bag would be great for a trash bag for the cut offs. Usually I'm dropping the cut offs in my tool pouch and dumping it at the end of the job or when it's full of trash. 😂 Veto Pro Pac MP2 is not a trash bag.
