My Jeep Newb Sock is almost done, but Ive hit a little speedbump. It turns out the axles gears don’t match! But before that gets fixed I need to get the front axle and steering buttoned up.
Still pisses me of that MT has cancelled Dirt Every Day. Watch a new episode last night when you went to Bend Oregon to play in the snow. You fellas had a damm good show.
My menral trick for metric bolts... if a bolt head looks like 1/2" it's 13mm, 9/16" is 14mm, 3/4" is 19mm. More than slightly smaller than 1/2" is usually 10mm unless it's Ford in which case you grab all of the sockets from 5mm to 10mm.
Awesome build. It amazes me how you put everything together. You are definitely a master when it comes to 4x4’s. If I could I’d love to have you help me build mine. Keep up with the awesome content.
I used your wrench trick for the E-brake cable removal and it worked like a charm. Thanks for that tip. Saved the frustration of pushing in all of those tabs.
Fred! - you are Dave should get together and have a little “Fire Pit” series, where you sit around the put and discuss builds and wheeling. Maybe invite some of y’alls friends. I would donate money towards travel on a patreon. Love you guys! ❤. I also Love that you are back on you tube like the old days.
Came out great, Fred! Really enjoyed following along with the build. 👍 BTW, recently purchased one of those 'one man' pressure bleeders.. works great! Wish I had bought it years ago.
I hope all went good for ya Fred , kinda wish we were brought up with metric fasteners , I can put my eyeball (eyechrometer) or fingers on a SAE ('Murican) nut or bolt and grab the correct size tool almost always , metric....ummmm , not so much , I hope everyone had a good , safe time on UA !
To set the toe it should be sitting on the floor, and the best way is to run a tight string all the way round all four wheels so you can check all four wheels and centre the steering wheel
Don't drive on muddy trails if you don't want a muddy rig duh . Truthful words brother. I am looking forward to seeing how this rig does on the trail brother 😀 going to be awesome 👌. And did you get to trip Dave into a mud puddle.
Nice build fred, been watching your shows since...just wondering why the rear suspension damper laid back, my guess is coz it works and never mind the looks for most jeep design or at least just a straight up but gonna have to cut fender wells...awesome build
now having a line up of all two door jeeps how do u feel bout the wheel base of the jk or jl compared to tube sock im used to xj and bigger and keep playin with idea of wrangler build
love the vids, hate the ads, felt like there was a mid roll ad every 5 mins, which spoils your explanations as it always falls right in the middle of you explaining why and what your doing
Super nice build, looks great. Really like the rim and tire combo. However... I'm seeing a lot of $$$ going into this build. I can appreciate everything you've done to it, but it's something I could never do myself. I prefer budget builds, I have my Dad's 2001 Ford Ranger I inherited and would like to upgrade, just not sure which direction to go yet. Anyway I enjoyed the video, looking forward to seeing it on the trail.
Never doubt yourself, you could totally build a Jeep like this some day. The first step is telling yourself you can. I understand budget builds, and will be doing more, but never let yourself think you couldn’t have or do something.
I suck at measuring stuff…I’m the type of person that would have to cut 1/2 inch off of something and it would still end up being a foot short…SMH…so I would have to measure the toe like 30 times…lol
