Except for Electrochemistry. Electrochemistry is oddly absent in the whole exchange, even though three of the people present have a party in mind (technically speaking) and one of them is female (technically speaking).

I failed my Kim save too with a high chance, got the killer to confess with Cuno, saw the phasmid, then stopped and reloaded before the Tribunal. It felt completely wrong finishing the case without Kim and I kept thinking about that one failed check. Glad I went back and redid it :)
The way Empathy almost *begs*, 'Peace... please...' made me choke up a bit. Underneath everything your character goes through, his heart begs for this last mercy. That'a Disco as fuck.
Had this happen but half said that empathy was wrong and they would not be reason with going to shoot any minute and if you ask further, who is right empathy and says half
Omg, right?, it felt like we were(the players) actually right there, i was genuinely scared for my life, but still pulled it together, it was literally amazing!!!
The respect gained from Titus and the Hardie boys from this scene felt real. After you take a bullet for them, how they accept you as their own, and try to protect you. Amazing story telling
@@antondavidovic3996 in my playthrough only 3 members survived but i managed to kill all mercenarys. titus respected me too and offered to join the hardies. my only mistake was not being able to save the gardener i think
I horribly failed the 'dodge' red check but completely forgot that I was wearing the dead merc's chest armor (it was concealed under a big winter coat), so you could expect my suprise when it said that Ruud's rifle shot ricocheted off my chest! That was such an amazing moment...
20:27 If you listen to this you can hear it clearly. Another nice detail from this game; after taking the bullet, when Harrier is clinging to life, faintly in the background you can hear what sounds like a woman's voice saying "Harry". It's likely that this is Dora's voice haunting him, even when he's near his final moments, showing her powerful influence on his psyche.
holy shit you can. i had to turn the volume up so high that the main dialogue hurt to listen to but she totally does whisper "harry" at you as you passout. spooky as fuck
De Paule: *Hellbent on shooting the RCM and Union, always trying to start the fight* Also De Paule: *Misses a nearly point blank shot and gets killed by someone who didnt even see her*
something i just realized coming back to this is De Paule is actually the only one to kill anyone in the gunfight. both Ruud and Korty goes down and De Paule kills 3+ of everyone there. really shows just how dire the situation is
Often, those who are the most hawkish are the least prepared for real combat. There's a reason why most people who actually understand how to fight will teach you how to end a fight quickly, _but tell you NOT to start one._
I never noticed that Harry makes a finger gun with his off-hand when he fires. His entire form when performing the quick-draw is like he's just wielding a pair of 9mm finger guns.
21:14 - This scene was so tense when I first played it. I heard that Kim could die when I was reading about this game and thought that this was the moment it happened. "The woman is gone. So is Kim." I thought he'd died, he'd given his life to save mine. I was so relieved when I woke up to Kim's voice saying "Sunrise, Parabellum." Wow, just wow. This whole game is such an experience. It's such a shame that there won't be a Disco Elysium 2.
"Baby blue, yeah... Like someone fucked up and put a baby's eyes on a grown man" (at 14:28) is one of the many lines I think about a lot from this game
I also appreciate Titus coming to your aid, he could've ran. They all could've when shit hit the fan; but they didn't. Even if they didn't trust you entirely, they knew in that moment you were there to help them. What a perfect game.
I honestly thought he was just gonna drink the sh*t when I bought it and end his life. It saved his life though. I wouldn't have been able to do anything without it. No reaction speed, strength, communication skills. Just the imagination to make an incendiary bomb on a whim.
How are you supposed to know that is even an option? Why would anyone equip the spirits and the tie before the tribunal? Are there hints in the game somewhere? Seems like you have to know it from the internet ... or maybe made an actual molotov in real life first
@@sewerface Well I was playing the whole game with that tie on me as in it's description there is a part where is written that the time for the tie will come. Also I had a bottle with blue alcohol.
I failed that suggestion at 10:24, so I didn't get to hear all the background info about the hanged man or learn that they were brothers. The guy just got mad and was going to shoot, so I had to go for the hand/eye coordination one and shoot him, which was great. That was a hell of a shot, a hell of a shot! Everything was the same after, too, thankfully. I love how Titus shouted to protect the cop, there was a very interesting character development there. This was very, very tense altogether. My tribunal happened late at night and it was snowing too, which made everything extra bleak, gloomy and beautiful in a way.
Titus was a hard one to crack but once you get to his good side, he is a really good friend. At some point I wanted to join the Hardie Boys after all the things :)
Wait, I thought that shooting him (or attempting to) was the only option in this situation, are there more solutions to this encounter? I have only played the game once so I don't know
@@antondavidovic3996 If you didn't get your gun before the tribunal then you have to dodge instead of shoot. And you can set your necktie on fire and throw that at him instead
My heart was pounding when I went through this part in my own playthrough, like I was actually in danger. I got a slightly worse outcome, 4 of the Hardie Boys died, but Kim and I made it, and we took down the mercs. What a wonderful game.
3:42 Words to live by -- they come to mind all the time since my playthrough. I tried not to cry hearing this. This is all any *sane* person in a defensive civil/military service role could ever want. None of us want to die. Everyone in a combat situation wants to go home, see the people they love, sleep in a warm bed. It's a shame peace can't always be the answer. A damn shame.
@THESlavBeing Because the commanders making decisions regarding Corp-level element movements usually aren't infield. I doubt anybody on the ground in Ukraine was involved in making the decision to invade. Their senior leaders are likely sitting cozy, somewhere in St. Petersburg.
@Bwack Beedows dozens of russian generals and high level officers have died in Ukraine. However, what I meant is why do russian soliders keep believing their propaganda and willingly, without a question go and kill and die in foreign land.
@THESlavBeing I'm not sure you understand how command works in an operational sense; I say that not to offend, but to respectfully inform. You have general officers in the field, yes, but positional authority is what determines who actually makes those decisions. You'll have a cabinet of politicians, the Commander-In-Chief and a small number of top brass forming plans and deciding on massive movements of forces. At that level, it's more a matter of what seat you fill, rather than the brass on your collar. The generals in the field don't have as much say as someone sitting at the table. As for the propaganda angle, Russia is more or less a police state. Many political dissidents have been killed or silenced miraculously over the years since the USSR fell. If the people are fed nothing but lies, then that's all most of them will believe. It's sad.
@Bwack Beedows thats true. However, what's even sadder, is that there are plenty of russians on the internet, seeing the news, knowing the truth, and yet still cheering on destruction of Ukrainian cities and genocide of Ukrainian population. I've seen russians celebrating execution of Ukrainian POW and calling for "more content like this". In my opinion, these people (which are a majority of russians) are worse than citizens of Third Reich, because the latter didn't have access to any real information that isn't totalitarian propaganda. But russians do, and they know everything.
I remember my first time experiencing this moment. I could feel the tension in my chest. I remember at this moment really taking my time to carefully reply. The writing was so well done the characters so well written. “She doesn’t seem to understand the severity of the situation” chills. “Peace always peace it has worked thus far. Start with the first ideas you have then work your way down from there… please” I love this game.
Having Lizzie die in my second playthrough, i realized how naive she was, all this time. She really thought that, like Evrart, she could solve everything with words and suggestion, death wrong. And she paid the price by still thinking she had for some reason lawyer up in this incredibly dangerous situation, that and my Harry not being the smartest guy. Even then Harry had no responsibility to handle the mistakes of others.
@@likmijnreet4542 She might have been. Does that mean she was worthless? That her death isn't a waste? Weren't we all useless at some points of our lives? Would our deaths be welcome, then?
The hardy boys talk a big game the whole time acting tough and insulting the cops trying to avoid bloodshed but even Titus starts pissing himself and freaking out when their up again actual killers and suddenly alone out there, no union backup and their tactics aren't working. They were all idiots, don't just pin Elizabeth for all the stupidity there's enough from tge rest of them to go around
Uug this game is so god damn good, the physical copy just came out for console, please buy it and support these guys so we can get more games like this
I got it for Christmas on Xbox One and I loved it so much that I bought it again for PC so I could edit my stats so I could fail and succeed as much as I wanted so I could see as much of the game as possible.
Don't support this company anymore, they fired a whole bunch of the people that were involved with the development of the game. A bunch of moneymen and investors have ruined it. Support the individual projects of those people they let go though, they're gonna need the support of the community.
I have no explanation for it, but Titus saying "The cop! Protect the cop, he's down!" makes me tear up every single time. I don't like Titus or the Hardie boys (same with Chapo), nor do I think he was well voice-acted, but it's a powerful line for some reason or another.
None of the Chapo members came back for the Final Cut, neither did Dasha Nekrasova of Red Scare who originally voiced Klaasje. Their voice lines were fully replaced by other actors. I kind of liked Felix Biederman's roles, I think his lisp gave the Scab/Kortenaer a comical edge that somehow made him even more threatening during the Tribunal (Maybe just because his "LOINCLOTH FUCKTH" was so spitty and unstable sounding) but otherwise the casting changes were a massive improvement. Virgil Texas' performance as the Smoker on the Balcony in the original was the stand out worst acting in the entire game IMO.
It was 4 years since the RCM left the city to rot and Titus and his boys stepped up as best they could, in that time they witnessed your massive bender, suicide attempts, etc. But also they also managed to witness Harry remaking himself into a new person determined to put in the work, write wrongs, do their best to bring justice to this area and step in between a group of killers and his people. It is the biggest show of reciprocity you can witness from him. You were willing to lay down your life for them, he understands this, and realizes he is honor bound to do the same to you now that you need his help
this was the only scene where my mum looked up how to do it right while she was playing. she wanted as few people to die as possible - she played through it once and got the best possible outcome, but was sure she had done something wrong. she so wanted to save everyone she could. we went through it step by step and reloaded on failed checks because she wanted Kim, the boys, everyone to be alright. it's painfully real that in the end people will die and there's no way around it. all you can do is your best. she didn't have every single dialogue option, you can still get the best outcome for this scene without all the facts. neither of us could watch when Harry shouted to Kim to avoid de Paul's shot - we only looked when the narration confirmed Kim had taken the gun. I still get butterflies when I watch it even though I know he'll be OK, and won't even die if it fails... just the idea of Kim getting hurt makes me feel a bit sick lol it really is a scene you wish you could experience again for the first time over and over and over... I like to introduce people to this game just because I know people will get to this point and will get to live through it. Through all of the game actually. it's something people should experience, I think.
I can hardly remember this scene. I remember getting shot in the leg and protecting Kim but the Hardie boys just disappeared. I didn't see them die, just gone forever.
@@super_7710 They're downstairs where they usually hangout, but most of them die. They kill the surviving mercs if you mess up the fight. In the best case Titus and the lawyer girl live.
I also finished the game twice with Cuno, it’s annoying can’t get success on this scene. I currently play on hardcore mode and i’m almost near of this scene. Wish me luck.
oh god i almost had it... but SOMEHOW with 97% chance of success of protecting Kim at the end, I failed... What the hell. and my last save was before entering the feld building... .f...
This game was just fantastic, its one of the greatest pieces of art I think I'll ever see and thankfully experienced. That check to warn Kim had me on the very edge, the relief when I succeeded was amazing. I cant emphasize enough how brilliant this is as art, it truly makes you feel, you are Harry and like him you are chaotic: You laugh at this world, you mourn it, you hope for it along with the characters. Not once is your intelligence insulted, it doesn't tell you what is right other than what is universally right in every context. I went into this game blind, not knowing anything and it was one of the best things I have ever done. But if somehow you never played the game and got here and are reading my comment, wait a while until you have forgotten this video and then play it with no expectations other than playing thru a game and I promise you wont regret it.
Somehow got this first try. Guess being a FALN head paid off. Was preparing for a shootout with Ruby and left all the motorics clothes on. Alas, even this best outcome has so many dead.
I just finished this arc of the game and HOLY SHIT WAS THIS AMAZING. I had already spent most of my skillpoints panicking in the Ruby encounter thinking I'd die and specking my Rhetoric so she wouldn't off herself. Had a 40% jump to 80% and saved her. Before that however, I had a save state which was broken when I was talking to Gary who I was in mid convo (about the cuirass I noticed from a perception check) when my power went out. When I got back I accidentally talked to Lena and ended the encounter with Gary which I didn't notice bc it was a different day on a different session. Anyway, I had to replay an entire hour from a previous state just so I could take the cuirass from him and THANK GOD I did. The armor saved me when I failed the 54% reaction speed check. I had an 87% check on the hanged man talk, 47% check to shoot Korty on the hand/eye coordination check and a 60% check on the authority to save Kim. I passed everything and was practically crying when I was able to save Kim. The aftermath was very sad but a solemn reminder of how amazing the story telling is in this game. I lost four of the Union but killed all three of the mercenaries. P.S. Rene's death was also out of the blue and wow did that whiplash me.
07:00 you can get a passive success here of difficulty 15 from internal imperium that prompts you to sacrifice yourself and tell them you did it (though you are not sure if it was you)
Man watching this part with a brainy character seems so much interesting. Beat the game on hardcore with high MOT and PSY and Misters Rhetoric and Logic were silent.
Love me a gym teacher build. Nothing but torque dork facts from Interfacing, Endurance reminding us that we're in great shape constantly, Physical Instrument telling us that we can probably kick everyone's ass and serving as our "Coach", Hand/Eye Coordination with ALL the gun facts, Half Light being a paranoid fuck telling you that you're always in danger, Composure telling Half Light to chill, Savvy teaching us about hustle grinding, and the constant city-scrying from Shivers that tells you accurate information that you really shouldn't know but somehow just do. It's a fun way to play, honestly. Ruby and the Tribunal checks were super easy even on HARD CORE!!
This ISN'T the best possible outcome, actually. But you need to play with a 5/5/1/3 build with Shivers as the signature skill to unlock the real best possible outcome here, and if requires passing a PSY 4 check in the first ~5 minutes of the game (it's not timer dependent) and you can't pass the other pre-checks involved here with any other spec. If you don't obtain the speaking tie, you can't throw a bomb here, which makes all the difference in the world
@@matejspevacek1226 -Horrific- Beautiful Necktie was Harry's *real* honourable partner. It sacrificed itself in the line of duty to save Detective Costeau/Tequila Sunset. It got like 7000 honour points for that deed alone. It deserves a funeral alongside the crashed motor carriage.

Just played through this today - decided to rush straight in and failed to quell Kortenaer's aggression. Elizabeth ended up getting shot dead, which was a bummer. When the options started pointing to taking physical action, my hand/eye coordination skill was minimal, so I was like 'oh I'm so dead'. But then because I was wearing the chest armour, I survived. What DID kill me however was only being on one morale point, and pondering if Harry could have made a better case to Kortenaer while talking to Kim, leading to Harry quitting. I think considering we'd just seen Ruby unalive herself minutes before, that was a great and fitting end to my character's story tbh. Buzzing to replay again!
never played this game, and first video i am looking about it, i actually really like how the perceptions and thoughs of the character are voiced/ works its seems actually well done !
This is such an inversion of the Ruby encounter. Its a great lesson on the ethic of restraint. When talking to Ruby, you get increases to the check to disable the machine when you talk to her. But as you talk to her and piece everything together, you learn why attacking there is not a good idea, but you are "tricked" into going for it as you keep getting positive modifiers. Here, as you try to talk the tribunal down, you get points for throwing the leader off balance, and as you keep talking you learn there is no negotiation, so now you know its the right time to use force. Very high concept.
Playing this last night (im playing this game for the first time) and it gave me chills. This is my favorite part of the game (I have to save this to another slot so I can repeat this scene again). And I got to survive with Kitsuragi. Very edge of your seat scene.
Love how the climax of this game is a single gunfight. When in most games it would be a huge war spectacle or something yet this game makes its climax way better despite being small scale. The internal dialogue was so good ngl
