Use Camp Mode to stay comfortable while camping in your Tesla. Put your vehicle into Camp Mode to maintain its cabin lighting, temperature, airflow and to play music. www.tesla.com
Hey for festivals, did you have to worry a lot about your battery draining? Was thinking of taking it to a festival which would be Thurs night to Monday morning and just scared I'll run out of battery. Thanks
@@ShonTolliverMusic Yes, that's how sound editing works. But the end result is an experience for the viewer, just like any other video or movie. And as a Tesla owner, I can tell you it does sound like that if you're going slow. No engine noise, but no tire noise either at slow speeds.
It's amazing that this transportation device has all these features in it, and they just keep coming and improving. Tesla... you're not just leading, you're dominating.
I've always wanted to visit national parks, so can't wait till I finally get my Tesla delivered. I've traded in my Toyota Land Cruiser for it, someone told it was good camping vehicle or to visit national parks, but I couldn't find camp mode. just some weird buttons that said 2H, 4H, 4L. So without camp mode I never could go and visit the great outdoor, what if I would freeze to death?!
@@GXMAN16 what happened to your TSLA and crypto investment portofolio daniel, do you get your feelings hurt? Hahahahaha coward, if you want to get some money, just get to WORK
I lived in my model Y for 5 months while working for a remote data collection company. I traveled to different states on my days off and slept in my car with a inflatable sleeping pad and used camp mode almost every night. It uses about 8-12% per night depending on outside temp. Its absolutely critical for below 0 nights. Just make sure you lock your car from the touchscreen at night instead of from your phone, or else someone can still open your door at night… i learned that the hard way. Just kidding. But i did test it out so you dont have to learn the hard way lol
Staying warm with the fireplace video? That's so 2020! I can start a real camp fire by charging my Chevy Bolt to 100%! That's a feature from the real market leader paving way to the EV revolution.
@@alexmoreno6237 not a worry, I've used it loads. It'll only shut off to preserve the battery if it gets too low. Try it on your drive to get your confidence.
I used camp mode in my Model Y this summer in Washington State where it got up in the triple digits. Didn't want to go buy A/C for a few days. Bought a twin air mattress and it worked out great. Parked in the garage with door closed (no fumes/carbon monoxide worries) and watched a movie at a comfortable 70 degrees
Curious how much power it typically loses overnight. Obviously this will vary by outside temperature and climate controls; but what have you experienced so far?
Cause exhaust sound is what destroyed the forests before, not roads or tires or large several ton vehicles, animals would get attracted to sound and get ran over.
Im so astounded by teslas, but with my 24k a year i really wont be able to get one for a very long time. Been binge watching all the teslacam videos and other research. Truly reinventing the way we travel.
@@F15HHOOKS Switched my BMW for one and it was life changing, boring and soulless and worst for all luxury car money for a cheap interior with literally nothing in it except for a steering wheel and a big screen. Now I'm stuck with it waiting until I can get a real car build. Audi E-tron or a Rivian
@@underscorechaz I think Daniel has a bit of an obsession 😳 He has trolled every commenter here. Fascinating how much time and effort to try to make people unhappy. Poor guy.
The Model Y is literally the perfect car for everything. Range, efficiency, space, seat position, performance, fun, all the features and so much more... can't wait for them to be produced in Germany!
@@krishmav I don’t agree with you. Price is one of the two downsides of the Tesla Model Y, right next to quality. They really need to get the price down or the quality wayyyy up. A fully equipped Q4 e-Tron with Matrix LED, HUD and a premium sound system with a subwoofer is actually less expensive than the Long Range Model Y. I had the Model 3 for 24 months and almost ordered a Model Y instead of the Q4 but I couldn’t convince myself (and my wife) to pay way more money per month just to be 1s quicker from 0-100. Tesla opening the charging network to everybody removed the last reason to stay in the Tesla ecosystem.
@@lorenzmuller4000 the quality has improved enormously! Especially the cars from Chinese production are on German-like niveau! More over, a Q4 just doesn't offer such an outstanding effinciency, range, performance, fun and space. And everyone knows how much more you would have to spend, if you wanted a Q4 to be as good equipped as a standard MY.
@@kefo025 That’s completely wrong, the range and efficiency of the Q4 e-Tron sportback model is very similar to the Model Y. You could argue that the performance is lower, but the difference to 100 is less than one second, therefore almost negligible. And the price you actually pay (not the sticker price) for a fully equipped Q4 e-Tron is indeed lower than the price of the cheapest Model Y. For example if you check out sixt leasing, they offer a fully equipped Q4 e-Tron (which includes stuff you can’t even get on a Model Y, therefor definitely a better equipped car) with 25000km per year for 550€ per month, including winter tires and service. The Model Y costs 711€ per month (not even including FSD or any customisations like color and rims), that’s a difference of almost 8000€ over the 48 months of leasing.
@@GXMAN16 Tesla owners tend to be smart. Do you not see the capability of choosing exactly how rough you want your camping to be? Let me help - park the car and backpack for days, and perhaps summon your car to the exit point? Or just hike back and have chargers waiting for all those devices that now need charging badly? Or, like the vid showed, perhaps you only want to spend some time with your loved one and get some good morning photos, but don't want to spend hundreds on hotels and such? I'm sure you can think of more ways to camp that aren't myopic.
This reminded me of when I (in my model 3) went from San Diego, California to Gardnerville, Nevada to do some shooting for 2 days; then crossed over through the Sierra Nevada mountains to Sacramento to attend a friend's wedding. Out of that 3 day trip I camped two nights in my Model 3. This was in 2018, and it was a great experience. And you bet I tested the handling that higher speeds as I went through the winding passage of the mountains.
One-pedal driving w/ regen braking on curvy mountain downhills is the best! so fun, perfect handling and control! (oh, and you get lots of range back, too, not just smile power!)
Slept in our Model 3 LR twice this year on a long 17 hour drive to the north of Sweden. Next year it's our new Model Y LRs turn (still have the 3, the Y replaced our family Volvo). Amazing cars, amazing company, reinventing the car into what it should be.
@@igello5329 Prove it! I guarantee you Tesla sells zero cars for below $40. How oh how do other manufacturers do it. I guess Toyota just has a bunch of Oompa Loompas pumping out those Corolla while singing and drinking magic juice to be sold for $23K.
Idk if you know how labor works but for their “labor” for making the cars it does cost money, and if they sold it at the base price they would make no money
Man, to be honest, any qualms I had regarding taking a Tesla on a road trip are VASTLY diminished with features like this. Who cares if it takes longer to charge than to fuel up if you can just safely nap in your car or stop for the night comfortably without having to get a hotel?
If you're serious about camping in the car you should know that it's not super well insulated so it gets cold near the trunk unless you put extra blankets etc. there. And if you're in a really cold or warm spot you should use 3rd party heatshields on the windows. And you can also get a mattress that perfectly fits each model from 3rd party. But otherwise, yeah, it's great.
If tesla can make a van with flat floor (for sleeping) with more than average battery I would buy it in an instant. Imagine being able to camp around in a van with a heater during winter and cooler during the summer and can use whatever electrical appliance outdoors.
I slept in my Model S for 8 days for a 2,400 mile road trip from California to New Mexico and back. $0 hotel bills, $0 gas cost with free supercharging. After two days of getting adjusted to it, I preferred it over the "check in, check out" of hotels. I found that if you plug the car in first, then turn on the climate control, a Level 2 charger will power the heater for the whole night. You don't get a reduction in range in the morning by using the heat if you do it this way.
With home ownership 🚀 in a lot of a cities, we’re gonna need Condo mode too soon. In all seriousness, this will create a new subset of people living out of their cars and I’m here for it!
I've been looking for the perfect mattress, and I think I found it! (Not what you expect!) I didn't like the 2 main options: Tesmat (stores neatly in the subtrunk, but not comfortable) and Dreamcase (comfortable, but takes up too much trunk space). After a lot of searching, I stumbled upon the Exped Megamat Duo TXY. It's custom fit for Model X and Y (hence the TXY name). Extreme comfort: sleeps like on a normal bed, due to foam + air design. Storage: rolls up tight and stores in the frunk or the subtrunk with extra space for sleeping bag and camping pillows (I think it could even fit in the smaller subtrunk!). I highly recommend it! I'm not sponsored by the company - just a very happy customer.
My wife and I did Camp Mode several times a year ago on our trip through Europe in our Model 3. A bit less comfortable than in the Model Y, but we liked it a lot.

Daniel and Chaz are cracking me up reading the comments. Thanks for the fun ad featuring camp mode. One of the little things greatly appreciated with my ownership of your product.
Glad to make your day better brother, as long as you like what you drive is what matters. And I have fun trolling tesla soyboys as well. I mean it's not me, it's the comments in here are pure gold, I can't help myself. No other car ad has comments like these.
That is what I did last week. Other camper said it was so cold last night and asked us how we slept in the cold. Yes! I have Tesla Model Y and I am a proud owner of most advanced intelligent vehicle in the world.
It isn’t just that it keeps you warm when it is cold outside, it keeps the air conditioned as well. I hate camping in tents and waking up to the humidity of the tent occupants on my face. Not a problem in a Tesla with Camp mode.
Been doing this a couple years now in my 2019 Nissan Leaf. Glad to see Tesla finally took the hint from Nissan and added a heat pump to the newer Tesla models.
We use dog mode often mostly because my wife waits in the car in the passenger seat. Perhaps Tesla could have an option to call it passenger mode? Or at least something we can choose to appropriately flatter our better halves. I recall a patent or FCC? approval for Tesla devices to detect living beings in the car (like a baby in a car seat) so that the car maintains a safe temperature and informs the driver, and perhaps first responders if the driver doesn't respond in a couple of hours.
Just tap climate and then keep climate on. When you leave the car it'll stay running. she can also tap the screen to turn climate on after you leave. So that already exists! :)
I TESTDROVE a Model Y in Zurich Switzerland during a holiday... it was a dream of a car, and so affordible!!!! I currently drive a Tesla Model 3, but maybe, when the family grows, we'll go for a model Y!! Amazing as well that the footprint of the Model Y is the same of the model 3, not even more space needed in the garage. AWESOME!
Yes cause Model Y is on the same platform as the 3. It's just an suv/coupe version of model 3, same thing as model S and X. And it's not affordable at all to avergae people. But you're in Switzerland so its different, why don't get yourself nice Mercedes E63s Wagon, it's made for Switzerland.
This use case seems so obvious. I love going grocery shopping in the heat of the summer. Just set the climate to stay on when shopping at multiple stores and my fresh produce arrives safely home.
Recently added a freezer to the trunk, now I can get groceries and keep food frozen while shopping or have dinner. Check out the Ausranvik 37 Quart Portable Fridge, it doesn't fall completely into the hidden compartment and sticks out by about 2 inches, but still leaves enough room for air circulation.
My Lexus GX has a camp mode, its called body on a frame with a two speed locking center differential which can take me miles off road to actual nature site where I can build a real fire and sleep inside my big ass SUV, turn off my phone. Hey have fun roasting smores over that screen, don't lose your fedora as well while doing it. They've had this camp mode since about mid 1950s when old grandpa FJ40 Landcruiser's came out. Hey cool you've realized you can sleep in your car and not freeze to death.

The most important company of this century. Pushing boundaries of sustainable technologies and forcing the industries to transition away from fossil fuels. Go Tesla!!!
I stopped using Camp Mode to get rid of the fire video. It's cute for about ten minutes. I just drove across the U.S. and back again, coast to coast. First night I slept in my Model Y. I'd done that several times and liked it. The next night I stayed in a hotel, didn't cost much - was very nice. So next night I did it again, same chain. But this place was run down. It's more of a hassle to stay in a hotel, then it is to just park and climb in the back. After that I just slept in my car, unless I wanted to shower. It's a no brainer, pull into a rest stop, park. I have a 4" thick memory foam mattress, a sleeping bag, a regular pillow and a sleeping bag liner (that's the main thing I sleep in. Usually I just drape the sleeping bag over me. Black t-shirt over my eyes I can sleep right below a street light. I've slept in the car in freezing temps and when it's been very hot. I set the climate at 69° f which seems perfect. I think using just Climate will turn off after about 6 hours - usually makes no difference. If it does you just turn it on again with your phone. Great car. So some days I'd basically spend almost all the 24 hours in my Tesla. Stealth camping? Van people seem to eliminate all the windows. I don't cover any of the windows. One good trick is to park right next to the Supercharger. No one notices. In Los Angeles when smoke from the wildfires blows in, I've found that my home HEPA filters can't keep up with it, so I just go out and sleep in my Tesla - I don't even have the upgrade Bio Warfare filters - but I'm going to get them. (I've camped like this in a Honda Odyssey, Prius V and all over the world in a lot of tents, rainflys and even just a bivy sack (10,000 foot mountain in Japan, blowing rain -- best night of my life.) Hope this helps. Enjoy your life.
I'm trying to go on a cross country road trip soon in my model 3 and be on the road for about 2 months while working remotely. Good to know it is very doable in your experience and in fact enjoyable :)

With a Tesla, you’ll never be too hot or cold. Always at perfect temperature, steering wheel, seats, including the back seats. Lots of idiots have no clue how amazing this car is. Or should I say a robot.
Yep with a non tinted glass roof, you sure as hell will never get too hot with direct sunlight in the summer. And that's really an issue I've had in all ICE cars I've owned is I am either too hot or too cold, if only my climate control was automated like a thermostat at home or I had heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel. But all the cars i've owned are from 1910s open bench frames, so you know I just put on a lot of layers and warm coats in the winter and ride shirtless in the summer. Good thing Teslas came out with A/C and heated seats, it only 110 years later. I wonder why no ICE cars came out with that technology. Should I switch to Tesla, i'm tired of buying coats and freezing my fingers in the winter.
@@GXMAN16 again, missing the point; you can preheat or cool a tesla through your phone before you even get in... and yes, that exact feature took 110 years to make technically 😂
@@underscorechaz Yea you're right, I've heard they came up with that idea in Europe called Remote Start, it's a some German phrase for something. I guess Tesla actually implemented it, never before has there been an app like that like Lexus or Ford or Mercedes have definitely never had an app where you could remote start your vehicle from your phone and have it heat or cool off when it starts.
@@GXMAN16 I had a brand new ICE car, couldn't even listen to a music right. It'd take 15 mins to warm it up, as opposed to 1 min now. I get to my destination in 15 mins. Damn I can't wait to get a Tesla, I've been wanting to go camping since I was a kid, i'm 32 now, so I'm glad I'll be able to start doing that in my lifetime. I've owned trucks including a Ford Raptor before and I've just sold a Toyota Land Cruiser to get my Tesla, I tell you those vehicles were terrible to go to the grocery stores and malls, there was just no other uses for them. @@michox I made a 250 km trip in Sweden in a ~2019 Model 3 LR AWD. Here we have 100 km/h roads with steel wire dividers. That journey was almost exclusively on such roads with steel wire dividers. The car made ~three 'phantom brakes' during that trip alone. And one of those were quite severe...
@@angela1984a hmm how would they train the network to not brake that hard when nothing is happening? I think it's just the neural network that has to get less frightened so easily. Maybe they're already doing it after seeing in retrospective that there was no object to worry about. I guess they would filter strong breaking cases in autopilot, from that filter those with no incoming obstacles, and train the network to not brake in those snippets.
