On this adventure I metal detect the ruins of an 1800's home and find several old treasures that are rarely found! Original music by Brad Martin www.GMMD.us / greenmountainmetaldete... / green.mountain.metal.d...
My Friday gets off to a great start when I see Brad's video is posted! Happy adventuring people! Best channel in this genre! ❤ The Baby spoon may have had the handle bent into a loose loop where the wider parts are. Many baby spoons had a looped handle to make it easier to hold.
Hello, maybe your triangular lead object was a children's toy made of lead. It looks like an old iron. Here in Germany I find toys made of lead relatively often in the fields. Little soldiers, animals and so on. I wish you continued success on your treasure hunt 🙂
The baby spoon handle actually curved around underneath so that the handle formed a loop with a little recurve tail under the bowl. It was actually a baby feeder. The narrow part of the hourglass shape was for your finger joint to hook into it.
We had clips on rubber boots that looked like that in the sixties. There were a couple of other parts and they kept the boots closed so that water had a harder time getting n.
I'm fascinated by Brads finds. Got a detector for my 75th birthday this year. Just around our 1756 hotel turned to 3 apartments I found an old brass plumbing fitting , pottery shred, and some newer aluminum trim.
Great video Brad as always. You and the Scottish Detectorist give wonderful history lessons. For the Baby spoon the handle would have been bent so that the two wider parts would be adjacent to each other. It would have been a spoon for a toddler whose hand would easily fit in the opening in the handle.
Someone probably already commented on the baby spoon . But I believe the handle was meant to be bent in a loop. The mother could put a finger through the loop for a better grip. Anyway, have seen that type before.
I've never seen him find a shoe buckle that cool and unbroken. That guy must've really been sad to lose it i'm sure. To top of it off with that incredible bell that still rings! Incredible, thanks!
The buckle is the equivalent of a gold coin relic wise. You can see the same design that man stared at every morning for a few brief seconds while he is putting on his boots to start the day. Very intimate
Wow, Brad. The blanket of colorful leaves and the shuffling, crunchy sounds ...so autumnal. Love all the finds especially the baby spoon...made me teary-eyed. Just think, a mother had fed her beloved child with that spoon so long ago...
Brad, your the best. I"m 72 yrs young and have watched you forever. I can't wait every time you come on. God Bless you stay safe and take care, Vern in Va. aka flea
Brad, I’d love to see your display of items you’ve unearthed over the years. Perhaps you could do another video showcasing them? Have you tried detecting along the shores of Lake Champlain? Love to see what’s hidden in the ground along its shores near Addison County. Thanks for a great channel!
Brad you need to put all your jingle bells on a Xmas tree I'm sure they will look wonderful or even a dry branch to display them throughout the year.😘😘
Your fine videos are a true blessing to me. No matter how I'm feeling, after watching your adventures in the mountains and listening to your calming voice, I feel uplifted for the day!!!
Could the lead triangle thing possibly be a cuff link? Maybe? And the baby spoon could be shaped like that to make it easier for the baby to hold on to when they’re first learning to use utensils? Just thoughts. Absolutely love the sleigh bell. I used to collect bells of all types until I downsized. I miss that collection. Unfortunately they aren’t something that’s plentiful in Texas so metal detecting to find one would be a very long hunt. Especially where I’m at near the border with Mexico. Very enjoyable video. Thanks.
I believe you are spot on .my grands had the same baby sets they kept to pass on to their daughters and my mom passed 10yrs ago at a very respectable 102 yrs
@duggkenn I tried it, I learned I dont have the patience required to be good at it. It took Brad several hours to find all that loot. He also doesn't show the "garbage" finds that litter the forest floor. I decided I love WATCHING people metal detecting, from the comfort of my home, in My PJ's. with a cup of coffee in hand! 😁
The fancy shoe buckle, exquisite but although the St.Nic.😅bell is a normal find wherever Europeans settled to hear one ring across the years is magical to me. Thank you Brad for a lovely visit to your neck of the woods.
Happy Friday everyone! Thank you for another great video Brad, and thank you for ringing the bell for us!! Autumn is my favorite time here in New England!
The mountains of Vermont are beautiful and look oh so peaceful in the fall time! I would love to be there with you. I’d sit on the stones and just breathe in the crisp air!
Good Morning Brad, Another exciting adventure you've taken us on! Beautiful piece of jewelry, old spoon And the complete, unbroken bell that you got to ring for us! Thank you for sharing : )
It looked small enough to be a women's stocking clasp. I've always wondered what that person who lost his shoe buckle did to continue wearing his shoe. I'm pretty sure he didn't have a supply of shoes
The suspenders buckle looks like it would have held stockings up. The triangle could be a cuff link. The “spruce) swings from side ti side. May work once clean.
That must have been a comparatively affluent farmer. That you could ring that bell was kind of uplifting to me, like a tribute to the maker for creating such a durable, enjoyable, item that brings happiness to the ear. The soil there seems like it isn't as destructive as it is in most of the locations where you detect, I hope you'll revisit the site.
Brad, you may not have noticed but as a mountain detectorist you have gotten to be not only a bit of a historian but a detective as well. Great work on your very unique video channel!
Such very cool stuff the baby spoon and the shoe buckle are number 1 & 2. Not often do we get to see things for babies in your videos. My guess is that they were used for as many of children in the family and passed down through the generations.
Best buckle I have ever seen found by a detectorist. By the way Brad your camera work and video quality is easily the best I have seen on RU-vid. My hats off to you my man.
The Bells Edgar Allen Poe Hear the sledges with the bells -- Silver bells! What a world of merriment their melody foretells! How they tinkle, tinkle, tinkle, In the icy air of night! While the stars that oversprinkle All the heavens, seem to twinkle With a crystalline delight; Keeping time, time, time, In a sort of Runic rhyme, To the tintinnabulation that so musically wells From the bells, bells, bells, bells, Bells, bells, bells -- From the jingling and the tinkling of the bells. Love your video's Brad. You are so like one of our sons, we feel we know you. Here is a verse for your crotal bells!
Great adventure, thanks for bring us along! I would love to see your collection of knife finds. As far as the bell i could hear it.....I believe!! God bless!
Brad, the lead triangular object may be a child's toy iron. the spoon though and the bell, what amazing finds. you definitely keep it interesting. nice work.
That was a great hunt brad, and that shoe buckle is as good as it gets without being actual silver, beautiful !? The baby spoon is pretty special and you can imagine there was sorrow at its loss, the sleigh bell is awesome too ! Nice one !
That bell has me thinking of a compass, my first time commenting on one of your videos ! I watch no other metal detecting videos really except yours. Been a viewer for a few year's now, thanks for doing what you do! I love metal detecting but never had the opportunity to go and do any detecting here in Kentucky. Again thank you for your videos!
Your friday videos are the highlight of my day. Today was no exception . Today's finds were amazing. And speaking as a Pennsylvania boy, your background. Vermont woods are very comforting and familiar. I love your eye for detail on some of the intricate foliage . Keep up the good work.😊
I can’t choose my favorite between all of the interesting finds today because they were all so good. If I had to choose I’d probably choose the broach but by tomorrow it could be something else. Great day of prospecting.
LOVE your videos! I'm addicted! Just a note though, the small item you decribed as a supender piece is actually more intimate. It's for holding up women's stockings & men's socks. The name "velvet touch" is a sales point, saying it's gentle so won't tear your silk stockings.
Brad as usual always a great video love the nature pics. And you're right Vermont is truly a treasure and beautiful you are so lucky. Crotal Bell and baby spoon were awesome, and you can tell they took care of their money no coins!
Those were all excellent digs. Love the crotel bell. Beautiful country, i would love to see . Happy swingin n diggin Brad. T4S another great video. 👍👍😘😘
That baby spoon is a great find. There were several in my family that were hand me downs from ancestors of the 1800s. The handles were curved over to enfold two of the mother's fingers. Held in one hand it gave more control over the spoon while holding a baby and feeding.
