Thank you so very much for this video. It really spoke to me. I truly think this will help give structure to my practice. These videos are so helpful for those of us who have limited to no access to Buddhist teachers locally.

I love the idea that to reach the best in our lives, we have to put others first, always. We think this is upside down thinking, but it just reflects our own inverted views.

True Buddhism isn't based on belief, but on direct realization of eternal truths, such as the impermanence of existence and the emptiness of all phenomena.

Hello thanks for these videos. I feel sometimes this is kinda advance stuff, so what should my daily practise be more specifically for a beginner ? Meditation, chants, prayer ? If so where do i find these chants or prayers ?
@lindarogers871
@lindarogers871 9 лет назад
+Redstripe921 do what u feel comfortble with can't spell
@treybie1
@treybie1 8 лет назад
+Redstripe921 I agree with Linda Rogers answer above. She may be perceived as curt since written communication is not always nuanced. But she is correct IMO. For example, I am not comfortable reciting chants when I don't understand the language; it feels like meaningless rote to me. So I concentrate on meditation. Other people enjoy the chants a great deal. When getting started, as you and I are, I think what is most important is that we GET started. So, do what is most meaningful to you for now and look to expand your practice as you go along. This is my opinion, for whatever it may be worth.

so like many Buddhist videos there is no text and pronounce guide for the chants and prayers. I know they are important, but what is said??

I have to say this, It's seem so easy to meditate etc. while painting sand pictures and this wonderful support group to make sure there is plenty of pigment on hand and oh yes lunch :-) I like Buddhism it blows Santa Clause and the Tooth fairy right out of the Box. I know I am sing off key here but don't take me too serious here. I go down to the Dharma Center every now and then when I need to be defragged.

the whole emphasis on amassing "merits" as "quickly as possible..." seems kind of silly to me. I mean, I think it's best to go at a thoughtful and meaningful pace. If I don't achieve all the things they've mentioned, I mean, heck, I'll just try again next time!

doesn't 'eternal' suffering a direct refutation of the 4 Noble Truths? erternal hell means no end to suffering is possible.

We all reincarnated here to suffer to redeem our sins so that we may return home to Heaven...............falun dafa. The more we suffer, the more black karma is removed from our souls.

I think buddhism focuses too much on the mind and lacks physical practice of the body. Body and mind are one. Training one without the other is not right. The buddha went to extremes isolating the mind (zero physical activity while meditating for how long ?), but that was learning from bad experience. I believe martial buddhism as is practiced in Shaolin is the correct approach although they do the opposite extreme.

This is not Buddhism. Praying to the Buddha? He specifically states not to pray to him. Theravada Buddhism is the only true form of Buddhism.
@MAVENSpeace
@MAVENSpeace 10 лет назад
depends on what praying means. Having gratitude, and asking to grant the teaching, practice, and refuge in the triple gem is a form of praying. Buddhism is not about praying idol or asking or praying to fulfill my material desires, wishes, sickness, but definitely praying for spiritual life. And with such praying I shall practice and have confidence, but not just pray and hope the Buddha will grant everything. Health, happiness and balance in life is the by product. I even call having good wishes for me and for others is praying. So, Buddhism is the core of every religion.

I've read some on Theravada, and I don't see much of a difference. What do you mean by "Theravada is the only true form of Buddhism?"
@dbatyacoach
@dbatyacoach 9 лет назад
saying theravada is the only true form of buddhism is not stating a fact but showing a state of mind .
@RD-kj7bb
@RD-kj7bb 9 лет назад
Theravada is closer to what the Buddha actually taught. I think there is value in all the different schools of Buddhism except Nichirin (spelling) which is just a scam. I went to one of their meetings and the first thing they said was that we are not a scam which means they are, then people were prayer for money and asking for the Buddha to give them money through their prayers .

Buddhism is man made. Buddhism have two way. 1 Mahayana believe Prince Gautama's who was a god have many previous live .After he became Buddha he did many miracles. He could ply, walked on water.... (This is Chinese , Vietnamese Buddhism. )But he didn't help his father throne existing and save his relative lifes. Why? 2 Hinayana believe Prince Gautama who was a man. He didn't do miracle in his life. Who follows him will find enlightment in life. Gautama practiced 6 years that became Buddha. Today, many Buddhist practices Buddhism. They follow Gautama's method but they can't become enlightment even practice whole life. Why? Is Gautama' method wrong? Or Buddhism is liar. Is there a alive Buddha? Is Dalailama enlightment? Or he get that after he died?
@ajb5852
@ajb5852 10 лет назад
or Theravada that has neither what you mention... being - Thai, Sri Lanken and some parts of northern India. instead of giving rhetorical questions on youtube with so many 'why's' and 'wrong's?' you should try and find the answers yourself. Gotama's method isn't wrong and as he mentions in teachings that no one can become enlightened when the dhamma is still found. only when the path of spirituality has been lost can the Buddha be born and find the path for all sentient beings. There is a reason why Buddha didn't help his family or his kingdom as this has been recorded if you researched.............. Dalai Lama is just a Buddhist monk, still only human being, not enlightened as he is still with suffering. you are right as well, many Buddhists practice Buddhism all their life and never find enlightenment... there must be an easier way to end your suffering right? I mean in this day and age if you have enough money then surely you can buy your way to liberation??? don't be foolish my friend. you should research more if you have these questions... but really this isn't your problem, your problem is yourself and your own suffering. Buddha always wanted people to question him that's why the dhamma is so extensive so you can find your answers if you search.....
