They started as 6 members in 2012 but 3 members left soon after, so they asked their vocal coach (who had tried to make it as a singer but wasn't successful and then was told that she wasn't pretty enough to re-debut at 24) and a trainee that was originally rejected to join them, which made them a 5 member group. Then they were almost completely unknown until the end of 2014, they were on the verge of disbanding because it was tough financially, their manager wasn't even getting paid at one point. Then a fancam of Hani performing "Up and down" went viral, it has more than 30 millions views, which is the most of any female kpop artist, and only one or two bts fancams have more views, and not by much, which is crazy because they were completely unknown at the time. This fancam saved their career, "Up and down" (which was kind of their last shot to continue as a group), had been released a few months before but hadn't been successul suddenly made a complete comeback on the charts, it was so crazy that music shows even invited EXID to come promote the song even though the promotion period had already ended (which I think is the first time it happened in kpop history). But even after that their trouble is not over, when they finally were successful, Solji (the former vocal coach), who is the leader and main vocal got sick and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and had to take a break for almost 2 years, from the end of 2016 to their full group comeback in November 2018. But once again EXID beat the odds by being successful with only 4 members in the meantime. :)

yesss exid is one of my favorite girl groups! i'd love if you reacted to "ah yeah", it's a great song and the video is kinda a callout for the korean media and people who were saying they're too provocative, showing that even when women are just trying to mind their own business and do normal things they get sexualized and harassed, but as soon as they want to be sexy by their own choice it's suddenly not appropriate. another great song to check out is "i love you" it was their first song as 5 after solji came back from her hiatus
Their group name is actually pronounced "E","X","I","D" where you say each letter.. like B-T-S also -- their leader Solji is one of the best female vocalists in kpop .. she's won the singing competition The King of Masked Singer multiple times
just wanna let you know LE is an underground rapper before she even debut as an idol with EXID. she also a rap teacher to some of idols and she also write all exid songs and songs for other groups/artist. TRULY ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED RAPPER THAT KOREAN EVER HAVE
This is one of the most iconic kpop songs, It was weird but that was how Kpop back then, very campy and diverse lol. They have top tier vocals and LE is one of the best kpop rappers and they're one of the few groups that is actually good at variety shows.

EXID is my Ult group and Solji is my Ultimate Bias. She was theír vocal coach before joining the Group. She was also the first Winner of "King of the Masked Singer". Her Voice is like heaven and super Powerful. Their album "Street" is one of my favorite Albums of all time.

Solji is without a doubt one of the best female vocalist in K-pop and when it comes to female rappers LE is up there. I really recommend their early songs which were very unique (like 'I feel good'). Please check out their song 'Every Night', it's a very good song which I would describe as a very intriguing composition.
Their concept is mainly sexy quirky, don't be too apprehensive with it as their discography is arguably ONE OF THE BEST IN KPOP! One of the few girl groups who can give full grown woman energy!

Btw, LE, the rapper, is the songwriter and producer of the group, she's the second most copyrighted female idol songwriter, she's amazing, most of EXID's music is written and produced by her, she also wrote songs for other artists like Hyuna for example
Please react to their songs I Love You and DDD. I believe DDD was the next big song they had come out after this song, and then I Love You was the big one after that. And they are very different vibes. I Love You has kind of a retro feel and DDD is very much sexy mature concept but the Leader isn't in DDD I believe because of illness.
they're still together they promote last year mostly in japan . i don't really know why but they're hiatus in korea is very long i can't remember the last time i see them .but still huge fan . UP AND DOWN and AH YEAH are they're most popular songs even if they got a lot of good songs .

and for your information, their real personality and their stage presence is soooo opposite. they are sexy professional on stage, but off stage they are so funny, dorky and easy going. To be honest, EXID is one of the most funniest kpop groups that ever exist :) I think after dives into their musics, you should react to their funny moments too :)

One cool thing about them in particular is that they used their sexy concept to take a stand against the sexism and double standards of SK. They had one release where their choreo was censored for hip thrusting and they had to change it for tv performances, so their very next music video was a direct shot at men harassing women in the work place and a woman taking control of the narrative about her sexuality and made fun of the censorship by pixelating images that weren't in any way sexual.
Exid is everything and I love DDD, Every night and so many other songs! This is one of those videos I show newcomers to kpop when I want them to see the magic of ✨kpop✨ haha Such a fun video! I hate to throw out other group recommendations on another’s reaction video but I always show people this video and orange caramel’s catallena, another fun song with a quirky video that’s very iconic (especially any of their live stages to it!) all of their videos are amazing though and they definitely have an interesting way of singing more reminiscent of traditional Korean trot? Lipstick is my all time favorite though (just putting them on your radar if you hadn’t heard of them but no pressure! Love your videos!!)
AND back then EXID as the most solid group in kpop SOLJI Is still now one of the best main vocalist in kpop from all generation idol she's in a top ten with godess like AILEE ,HYOLIN ,BADA ,IU ,TAEYEON and all great main vocals in kpop history . L.E they're rapper as one of the best tone for a rapper and a very solid flow . and HANI is one of the best visual in kpop history and she's also very beloved for her easy going personality .
the members probably saw the writing on the walls and left their korean label before it shutdown after going bankrupt. that stopped their korean promotions, but they still had their japanese label and continued to promote in japan. they're all doing solo activities in music and acting currently. with the 2nd gen comeback wave that started last year, i think more veteran groups might make comebacks if their names and discographies aren't held hostage by their old companies. like 2NE1 can't promote together because YG owns the brand. but there's been groups that rename after leaving their agencies without suffering much of a loss in fans e.g. a really successful group called Beast left their label and changed their name to Highlight without much of a loss.
Wow, you hardly ever see and EXID reaction these days (sucks because even though I’m only a 2 year KPOP fan it was “older” groups like them and Infinite (a boy group) that made me a STAN of the genre (along with Girls Generation but they luckily always get reacted to.) Yes they were known to be provocative but it was never that provocative but they were labeled for it. Their next song after this, Ah Yeah, the video is a commentary on Korean censorship and how male idols when they act sexy are celebrated for it while women are chastised. Like many others have said, Hani is like a national treasure, such a goofball, and the epitome of someone being one person on stage and another off. The camera can be on her and the second the music starts you can see it in her eyes she becomes a different person. LE, the rapper, wrote and produced every song. Solji, their lead vocalist was the first winner of Masked Singer (it started in Korea) it was the pilot and their formatting is a little different. Right up there as one of the best female vocalists. Ah Yeah, Hot Pink, L.I.E., Cream (Chinese release but it was recorded in Korean and Japanese) DDD, Night Rather Than Day, Lady (these 3 don’t have Solji as she was seriously ill at the time), I Love You (a personal fave and Solji’s return), Me & You. And the very underrated because it came out before Up & Down, Every Night. Another crazy video but the girls look breathtaking in it I think.
