In this concert, international composer, vocalist, and guitarist Vishnu Ramprasad unveils his remarkable musical invention, Navtar, to Leeds for the very first time. Coming together with internationally acclaimed South Indian percussionist Prathap Ramachandra, the duo will be presenting a unique performance of contemporary and classic Carnatic pieces.
In this evening of discovery stirred by the unfamiliar yet enchanting sounds of Indian Classical and Western melodies floating from the 9-string instrument, be ready for inspiration to spark. South Asian Arts-uk (SAA-uk) is a registered charity that was set up in 1997 by Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE to preserve the art of South Asian classical music and dance. The organisation was designed to pass down its love of the South Asian arts to the next generations through performances, community events and a complex education programme.
