This critically acclaimed six-part mini-series... Shot between March and June 2004, Ultimate Survival: Everest chronicles the Everest efforts of Team Discovery, which included two Canadian climbers - producer and experienced adventure guide Ben Webster, and his girlfriend, rookie climber and PhD candidate in Sports Psychology, Shauna Burke - plus Australian Andrew Lock and Hector Ponce De Leon from Mexico, both veterans of Everest and the world's most intimidating peaks. The series also follows the treks of Annabelle Bond, a London socialite; and diabetic American climber Will Cross. The expedition's members, including the team's Nepalese Sherpa guides, were trained to act as the production team, filming the extreme physical demands, physiological changes and emotional hazards. Soaring 8,848 meters above sea level - equal to the height of 16 CN Towers placed end to end - Everest's summit is the ultimate challenge for climbers around the world.

everytime i watch documentations about Everest Expeditions, the ones who climb up and down, do all the work, prepare ropes and ladders and literally save the paying adventureseekers' lives, are the Sherpa. without them maybe one in hundred adventureseekers would reach the summit.they are the real heroes of all the Everest stories.

It's their Home; not ours. Nobody climbs like the Sherpas; and even they die sometimes. Tough Place for Sure.

Everybody knows this. So just acknowledge that it is still a superhuman effort to climb the mountain. Did you watch this series? Did you se how pros like Andrew Lock (a friend of mine), Hector, and the Sherpas say it's incredibly tough? I summited last May and KNOW firsthand. Internet-naysayers, you suck.

The ultimate in 21st century arrogance and vanity. Got the money and corporate drive. Nice one Annabelle, what's daddy paying for next. Ed Hillary and Norgay tensing cut steps all the way….fixed rope!?? Anyone for Nanga Parbet, K2. Na! no one down the pub's ever heard of them. Still, it keeps narrators with a husky voice in business.

+louisfriendhastaste Oh Dear Is that the best response your purile little imagination can come up with. For the record duchess, I don't hate anything except ignorance which you seem to be loaded with. As a climber I've no interest in having my arse dragged up a once sacred mountain which is now a trashed pile of human crap and over inflated egos. P.S. I live in a cottage in yorkshire and and have no problems with my mobility.

It don't take a rocket scientist to call it like it really is. First of all, regarding Annabelle: All in these threads she was unfairly portrayed as a 'rich daddy's girl' who because of money, bought her Everest. Even sadder still, the 1%"s children and the very poor are so many times racially stereotyped. I saw nothing negative on the Internet about socialite Annabelle Bond. Only her full name and the fact that she had sponsors and raised money like any other climber who took that financial route to earn her place on Everest in this mini-series. Her father, Sir John Bond had nothing to do financially with her mountaineering experiences other than his love for her and emotional support as any other father who deeply love his daughter would. *Annabelle Bond is now a member of the Seven Summits Club* It's true as hell that money can solve a lot of problems, and it's known that in the 1996 tragedy that Sandy Hill Pittman used her monetary power to manipulate everyone at Mountain Madness plus its Owner Scott Fischer and Sirdar Lopsang Jangbu. However, this has nothing to do with *Ultimate Survival: Everest-Episode 6.* Shauna came down with that rib cracking Khumbu Cough. That held her up. And, diabetic Will Cross had problems too, for one, because his oxygen system failed. We can speculate all we want, but facts and the truth will always prevail. Gossip is what it is, and nothing more than gossip. Everyone who climbed Everest or any other huge mountain will have their own experience. To do such a thing is no easy task, friends. I don't want to do it, the main reasons are for one, we have taken beauty from so many pristine places on our planet, and I have seen so much death, and know I'll die too, but to have hundreds of corpses scattered all over these high peaks don't sit well with me as well as all that garbage and human waste. _Just my thoughts._

What’s this, the second or third time that Andronico (sorry about spelling) almost lost his life and took the lives of people trying to save him. Plus he refused to acknowledge that he was in such bad shape. He needs to hang up his boots. I’m so sorry Will. You are so amazing climbing the mountain even though you have diabetes. You are an inspiration! I hope you have the opportunity to try summitting again.

While it is understandable that a year's preparation and the expense/effort of making an Everest attempt put a LOT of hope and expectation on actually making the summit, some of these people seriously need a reality check, and a shifted perspective that is a little less entitled. You should NEVER assume that you will be able to make the summit of a mountain like this. There are too many factors that can go wrong and too many uncertainties. You could be the most athletic person in the world, have tons of oxygen, and perfect weather, and yet still be stricken with unpredictable altitude effects that could reduce you to a weak, stumbling, shell of your full abilities. If anyone seeks to climb in places like this, they should train their HUMILITY just as much as their bodies, and be satisfied and happy to simply be climbing in big, beautiful mountains, regardless of whether a summit is achieved. You need to have that humble mindset and be prepared for ANY outcome going into it, so that you are mentally strong and okay with having to turn around. If you let poor circumstances upset you up there, your judgement has a greater chance of faltering and you may do something REALLY stupid that could cost your life and others. Someone might be pissed they have to go back down fro the highest camp due to bad weather, but how would it feel if you made an ill-advised push to the summit, and then had to be rescued, putting lives of others at risk on top of likely frostbite and/or death you may suffer? You can't control mountains this high. You can't FULLY control what they will do to you physically. In that environment, you are at the mercy of the mountain. Be thankful if it lets you down alive, and leave your whiny "what-ifs" at sea level. Also, this reeks of reality TV dramatization. It was definitely shot in 2004 all right.

Thank you for uploading these, Dim. Full on enjoyed. Shame about epi 4 but... Even though I think Annabelle, rookie, never done higher than 8000m, frost bitten fingers that still giver her trouble, etc, etc, made it up there so easily and managed to stand on the summit and talk to cameras without oxygen.... Maybe daddys money paid for more than just the climb.

There are natural oxygen and muscle enhancer suppliments that make this type of climb much easier. Im sure her and her team loaded up on those. Also the high quality foods and natural underground water where they live. The entire money system we live in is complete nonsense, as only those with a ton of it can afford to do the ultimate adventures like this, thankfully the bogus economic system we live in, will soon be done away with, in a transition to a much better living envirionment for everyone on this planet.

*+Just Sayin* Annabelle is a Seven Summits Club member who did have some climbing experience and it was her big toes that got frostbite not her fingers. She lost all sensation in them. Her father didn't give her financial support for her climbing endeavors, however, he loves her deeply and was only there as her father, not his money. Annabelle dedicated her ascent of Everest to the memory of her friend Lone vagn-Jensen. "Lone had died several months before as a result of ovarian cancer. And, she had a tumour removed from her uterus before the climb. She did have God and her youth on her side. _Just Sayin!!_

That’s the sorriest thing someone could do steal oxygen to get to the top. Knowing someone has worked so hard to get there and spent so much money. Much less there life at stake. Sad world we live in. Your crap will get stolen on top of the world!

Ben sure made it to base camp quickly considering he was "the worst hes ever been when he continued to make even his girlfriends ascent all about him. Ben hopefully realizes his relationship won't ever be the same. It isnt that he turned around ....it's that he made every camera shot and their time together about him and his feelings. Can ya tell Im not a fan of Ben?

It's the greatest achievement in their life, for those who ambitiously decide to go up there to the peak of everest and made it,but unfortunately whether we make it up there or not, still at the end of the day we are all going to die!😆 I see a lot of stubborn, selfish, egoistic people who climb mountain everest put them self and others in a danger, that is not the purpose and point of this life, that is all a survival animalistic instinc or way of life, human being suppose to have more emphaty towards other living being, especialy toward other human being.that is the true value and a quality of being"a human being" the development of our emphaty it become compassion.an egoistic selfish way of life it's the product of a high intelectualy yet it's not a true value of human being which is a wisdom or an intelegency.intelectuality created a separation from each other yet wisdom or an intelegency united the human being, respect, compassion and development of emphaty within.the true climber here is the sherpa itself, for them the mountain is a mother goddess and worship with a lot of a respect not a subject to proof or to show an egoistic self.the nature has unlimited power, but man think that they can conguer it because in their mind they think that they are very genius and high intelectually, unfortunately they don't realize that we are just miniscule in this whole universe and at the end of the day again and again we are all going to die.none of us can avoid it.
