I figure it's because it's not only shameful, but the eerie "this is where you belong" text right before cutting is your own thoughts telling you "no you're staying here forever, this is who you are now."
im guessing you probably Do die, because theres no way with all the creatures and rot and decay in there ontop of his bodily problems from who knows how much drinking, his body probably just went "nah i cant do this shit" and gave up
It's one thing to see him flip his shit on you after that one failed authority check, that's him giving up on you out of justified anger. This is him realizing there's just no hope for you, as much as he seems to care about you. The only thing he can do is try to be gentle with you now, knowing that trying to push you forward will just lead to more hurt.

Well, yeah. Including all the beds and other places he absolutely could've gotten away with sleeping in for at least the night, including sharing a room with Kim for the night. But then it would break a lot of the games mechanics and not be as nearly as depressing as the creators wanted it to be. Even though narratively, it kinda falls apart and makes it seem like the creators just wanted to be "edgy".

There's an alternate version of this maybe before the final cut update? But the newspaper mentions the game devs were aware the "silly little player or whatever thought they were clever" to soft lock themselves out of a bed. Very similar but I don't think Kim says anything so pretty certain it was an earlier version
It's the saddest possible ending to the game. Harry has absplutely fucking nobody in this ending, it's even worse than the suicide ones at least in those he's dead and can no longer suffer
@@crunchbuttsteak8741 I think a lot of the games endings are made to make you cringe that when you really think about it (for being such a nice person why didn't kim just share his room for the night?) it's pretty clear they just want to make the game more depressing than it already is.
Kim: "Good night, detective" That's the moment Kim realizes with a mix of dissapointment and pity that you're a lost cause and there's no way the investigation will advance with mister Sleep-in-the-Trash on the job. It's so pathetic that it's hilarious.
One could interpret the cigarette smoke as being from the smoker on the balcony.... But I think Kim just really, *really* needed a cigarette after that.
I think this is an ending cause Kim just gives up on you. If Kim does not trust you enough to think you can't do the job, he walks out. And you can't do this without Kim.
I knew that sleeping in the trash container was a possibility before playing the game. Even now, I feel very connected with Harry so I knew, deep inside me that if Harry ended sleeping in the trash, I would cry. A lot. A fucking lot. When Kim payed the room the fisrt night I was so damn happy because maybe there would be hope. I received the money-hungry status beacuse I was so afraid that he would actually sleep in the container that I was looking for every single bottle and thing I could possibly sell. Imagine my joy when the lovely old lady gave me a room... Harry saying to himself "Time for bed, Hobocop" breaks my heart in a way I cannot put in words

I don’t know why everyone is saying the creators just did this to be edgy and that there were soooo many other places avalible like. That’s just how it is irl. There are no openly available beds just lying around that aren’t behind locked doors, or at least not in this town that’s already filled with poor people doing that like Cindy having the coal room which I assume she doesn’t pay for. Assuming this is before day three where you are literally given a free room for the rest of the game, Kim has already sold one of his prized possessions AND given you 130 out of his own pocket to get you a room. You can get the room amount lowered first night if you roll well, you can beg Joyce for money, or there is the option of simply not sleeping which does a little health and moral damage but doesn’t kill you. places with unoccupied beds such as motels and apartments all have the same view of “he asked for a room but I don’t make the rules I just play my part” he isn’t getting a bed that way either. This one I admit that I’m not sure about but the underground part seems to imply being gay is if not illegal at the very least very VERY stigmatized in Revochal, and I don’t think he’d be openly allowed to let you in there policy wise since Garte doesn’t like you already and it’s probably against policy. So Kim has the option of let you stay in his room with one bed, when you are clearly at least a little unstable, he’s just met you, and he’s already dropped 330 or whatever it was on you, and risk getting labeled as gay, or letting you stay in his most prized possession when you’ve trashed where you’d stayed before and wrecked the last car you’ve touched. Kim’s already helped him more than I probably would’ve, and that’s just the nature of the real world a lot of the time. Just because a warm place to sleep exists doesn’t mean it’ll be used or given to someone who needs it, and you as a human person can only help someone else so much.
