Mate the rules are terrible, they say it's for fixatures, but literally this rule will make the top 6 more likely to play more games instead of less. Corruption at it's finest.
That's precisely the problem. Man City's pathetic effort in the Cup final seems all the more suspicious when you see that 6 of the 7 going into Europe ALL just happen to be those particular half dozen. The FA happy to get their "globally supported brand" into a continental competition, when even some of their own fans will tell you they weren't good enough. Struggled to beat Wolves, beaten by Copenhagen, lucky to beat Newport, helped by referees v Coventry..... I still hope they keep that egghead Dutch cretin & have a similar season to entertain us 😂
To be honest I saw the header and thought ‘here we go, another rant’. But actually you are right, this is out of order and screws the beauty of these cups where teams have a fair chance at winning
Every team other than the top 6 should boycott this cup, its ridiculous, its actually disgusting. Fuck the tin cup trophy, we will just win the FA cup instead. 97-99 Kit is my Fav, brings back memories of that famous win against Barcelona. Its mental to think we used to keep the same kit for more than 1 season, its been a long time since that stopped.
Adidas shirts? 100% with you Matty, the 1999 Brown Ale (got that L/S with "Phipps 10" on the back). Second would be the 2001 (sadly I lost mine, another L/sleeve), but my 3rd favourite is the 2010 shirt we won the Championship in, plus I love the yellow "custard tart/vanilla slice" change kit that we hardly lost a game in. Miss my 2001 top & also my 95 shirts....
It's good idea to seed them gives lower league teams the chance to get a big draw which will make them money. We get terrible draws every year anyway. It's due to the new champions league format

I was hoping the SUPER LEAGUE CUP would be one of our first cups; it’s like UEFA Refs don’t get any knock out games if one of the big teams lose with them reffing. It takes the shine of the SUPER LEAGUE CUP 4:23
What am I missing?? Under previous rules we could have played an Arsenal in the 3rd round and now we can play Arsenal in the 3rd round?? 3rd round matches will be played over 2 weeks to avoid European match clashes... how are we disadvantaged?

But it's a rule thats hopefully going to benefit us down the road. Dont play 6 games to get to knockout now, its 8, more games to smash the squad to bits. Splitting the draw over 2 weeks and making sure youre not getting another top 6 team early doors is decent. No one complained about seeding and coefficients when it meant 5th could be champs league or a soft draw in the europa, christ, get a grip.
The League Cup should return to being a knock out competition where all League clubs are drawn at random with an equal chance. They might as well just let the greedy 6 join at quarter final stage with the 8 required made up by the last 2 remaining qualifiers.

This new ruling is just stupid. It's taking away from the spirit of competition, it shouldn't be protecting teams who are in the top flight league, it should stay as any team could drawn against any team, no matter what.
It's shocking that like , guess if the so called top 6 are seeded we carnt draw them early on like this season , we will just knock them out in quarters and semi finals ,, if we get our full team back nobody will stop us, it's our year 🏆
So it’s exactly like the European competitions making it easier for seeded teams and harder for the smaller teams leave the rules alone and fix the ones you have already made terrible VAR not fit for purpose. FFP & FRS designed to keep the big 6 at the top and everyone else struggling to keep up the PL UEFA & FIFA all a joke and corrupt.
I hope it backfires as well and the smaller teams beat the cartel teams but they won’t be allowed they’ll get brutally cheated like Coventry got against Man Utd and they also wanted it to be a Manchester derby final

I dont think the 'big' clubs want the league cup at all. If the EFL rock the boat the premier league/big six will just withdraw and have a premier league cup instead.

We will be in top six next year and were in top six recently . Stop seeing Newcastle as a minor club , Man City are due to decline and Liverpool with a new manager will fade . Arsenal will be found out after two good seasons . The future is bright , accept challenges , the big six are only so if you feel inferior to them , don't over respect them , beat them !
Lower league clubs should forfeit the competition. Wouldn’t be a good look for the competition if it’s constant walkovers up until the top 8 are automatically given quarter finals! It’ll lose credibility
What is the point in following football all together if you support a team outside of all this in that case? Lol. They take the fans for granted all the time but they'd soon crap themselves if all the clubs supporters outside of the big six stopped bothering all together and ruined the sport. They just know people won't. So they couldn't get there super league under away they've rigged it In the rules to ensure they stay at the top. If you dare to score against a cartel club, goal is automatically disallowed and scorer is sent off. And a goal is awarded to said cartel club for the inconvenience Fking joke. Everyone should just boycott the fking thing
Hang on Matty you don't kick off that we get to skip the first few rounds of both of the cups. The Premiership clubs all get preferential treatment so don't pretend it's only "the big 6" that the football authorities favour. The fact is if this rule was introduced last year no Newcastle would have kicked off because it would have suited us
Is there a requirement to play in that Cup? Take a stand, pray the club boycotts that Cup. If one clubs boycotts, there’s a chance other clubs will follow
