HSM is basically about Troy having so many life issues...he’s handsome, popular, talented at theater...singing....basketball...multiple colleges want him...dear lord someone help the boy.
Cannot stop thinking about Amanda watching joe sing to Demi and goes “which one are you I’m joe” and drew responds “ok I guess I’m demi then” It makes me laugh every time
You know Amanda is a good friend when she still, to this day, says Kevin is her favorite even though it's actually Joe. I need that type of loyalty in my life
Damfxll We’re not talking about Drew and Amanda being friends lol. Drew explained in the video that Amanda’s friend’s favourite Jonas brother was Joe and so she had to pick Kevin as her favourite even though it was actually Joe.
@@kingchicken8232 it was originally at the correct time but drew cut out a part of the video (him calling Demi Lovato a girl) so now the timestamp is after the quote
I wanna become a background actor in tons of movies and shows and everytime I wanna just stare at the camera. But not in a way that you’d catch it at first glance. Something that could be like an Easter egg. Then I’d have a whole universe around my background characters
"i love that her belt isnt holding up her pants it's wrapped around them" throwback to when i was in high school. you'd just get a weird macrame belt that doesnt do anything
“WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE TWO DOING IN A TREE???” That line always makes me laugh because It sounds so funny to yell at someone so angrily. Inside of a high school theater nonetheless 😂
Literally every time I heard that line when I watched high school musical I would laugh way harder than I probably should and replay it😂😂 everyone hated me for it 😅😂
Listen, if you were forced to 'like' Kevin, you were at the bottom of the friend group. My friend got Joe and my other friend got Nick. It was me. I was at the bottom of the friend group.
Ms Darbis and Mr Bolton's relationship was (and still is) 100% the relationship between the sports and drama heads in my school. Even to the point where the sports director son is more into theatre than sports. So HSM 1 will always be endlesly funny to me for that reason. I can't stress how similar they are to the movie. Pretty sure I heard the drama head say "chapel of the arts" once too
At 12:14, I was sitting a little ways away and, for some reason, I thought I saw a hand on her ponytail pulling her hair back as she leaned forward. When I realized she was holding both of Drew's and it couldn't be theirs; my blood ran cold. ...It was just a scrunchie.
As someone who was homeschooled my entire life, HSM always made me a little jealous of what high school was "really" like... Come to find out it was all a lie lol. Also, I think part of the reason that HSM actually wasn't bad was because it was choreographed by Kenny Ortega, the same choreographer who choreographed Newsies the broadway musical, and the dancing in that musical is so so great.
literally all the high school musical movies are just troy and gabriella breaking up 3 times in the course of 2 years, troy singing an angsty song, and then them getting back together and somehow being the relationship that everyone wanted while every other couple was like 100% less problematic
The plots go: Troy and Gabriella sing a song. They're happy. Sharpay gets jealous and tries to steal Troy. Kelsi writes Troy and Gabriella a song. They sing it. Sharpay sabotages it and sings a snazzy version of the same song. Troy and Gabriella break up for reasons that could have easily been explained if only Gabriella gave Troy 5 FRICKIN MINUTES of uninterrupted time. Gabriella sings a solo. Troy and Gabriella get back together. Whole cast sings. Sharpay seems to be better. And repeat.
I just realized that I never bothered to look up the plot of high school musical. (image my surprise when Drew said there's an actual musical happening, I just thought it's a high school drama where they sing about their feelings)
i’m pretty sure they were supposed to be dating, but the creators made them siblings because there were already a bunch of couples, so maybe they decided that last minute idk
@@sinead6501 really? 'cause the wardrobe department seemed to dress ryan like he was very stereotypically gay, at least considering what year it was made and men experimenting with their fashion wasn't as accepted.
If it makes Amanda feel better my friend and I did the same thing with My Chemical Romance. She liked Mikey Way, so I had to pick someone else. Then his appearance changed and she had a small crisis of having to find a new guy to like but having to pick someone else cause she couldn't take my pick.
Are you trying to tell me all of High School Musical is supposed to take place in two weeks??? Also, Amanda is so brave for taking one for the team and loving Kevin.
I think I was in 8th grade when camp rock came out and all the girls in my grade liked Nick. So I pretended to like him too even though I didn’t even like the Jonas brothers. I watched vh1, so I thought I was ~not like other girls~
I think that’s why I never really liked Gabriella. She was always so dramatic for no reason. At least Sharpey and Ryan were entertaining even though I hate the spoiled rich blonde bimbo stereotype
According to the Tickety toc, that slow Gabriella ballad WAS sung by two people. She couldn't hit the low notes so they're just spliced it with the demo
you guys being so good at camp rock trivia makes me feel a little better about the time during junior year in high school I was going to a concert I completely left my phone at home and instead brought my Camp Rock lunch box
I've waited for YEARS to finally relate to someone about being jealous of schools in movies. I don't have to feel bad about it because these people aren't real.
When I was in high school, I was an extra for a movie that was shot locally. I was in a cafeteria scene, and basically the only direction that was given to me was “walk in there, find a seat, and make sure you DON’T look at the camera.” Do you want to know what the first thing I did was?
Being an extra is really weird. You're often told to walk from point A to point B, there's usually a PA where you're supposed to walk who will tell you when to then go start walking again. So the girl walking into the corner probably thought it was as weird as we do, but that's what she was told to do! Also, she was probably like 30 because that's every high school extra.
Amanda pretending to eat the guitar pick and Drew weakly going "nO" while they're both laughing and looking like they've lost their minds made me crack up real hard ✋😭
"Theyre in, like, Alaska, or maybe the north pole..." Fun fact that nobody asked for: There is a city in Alaska CALLED North Pole and it's a lame tourist trap, but they have reindeer and the streetlights are colored like candycanes, so that's fun...
as someone who did attend a public high school in albuquerque, HSM does not live up to reality 😌🤚. guess they can’t show drug deals during class on disney
I feel weirdly comforted by HSM now 😂 cocaine and hash is also present at my school and a teacher accidentally streamed porn to his class. Come to think of it I'm glad disney is unrealistic.
It’s actually very sad because camp rock 2 is a metaphor for the war. America is camp rock and Afghanistan is camp star. She enlisted in the war as camp rock but many of the troops had been taken hostage by camp star right away. And the parachutes camp star sent are a metaphor for the bombs. They took so many lives. Tess (her best frenemy) and a lot of the camp counselors (commanding officers) were taken hostage forcing Amanda to take on a leadership position that she wasn’t ready for. She lead them into the camp wars and they lost miserably. She also settled for Kevin when she wanted joe and that’s a metaphor not for her but for Drew. Drew wanted his Joe (Danny) but had to settle for Kevin (Amanda). Amanda thought she had her Shane Gray, but went back home to realize he was a Shane gay, gay for Danny that is. And she returned from the war to find drew pregnant and married to someone else. You see, camp rock 2: the final jam’s camp wars were not just a metaphor for the war that she lost in Afghanistan, but also the war that she lost in her love life. And so camp rock 2 haunts her nightmares.
The fact that Amanda still has a picture of a sharpie-drawn portrait of Kevin Jonas on her back from when she was 13 years old...that's...just...so damn amazing
as someone who goes to a rich-kid private school, we have a LOT of weird extra-curriculars like cadets, agriculture, it has it's own dance and theatre academy too. and the school has it's own private beach property they have camps on, plus we also have multiple big events going on at once. So if the school in high school musical was a rich-kid private school, the extra-curriculars and nice surroundings are pretty accurate.
i was in the onstage version of high school musical, in the onstage version the musical that they're auditioning for is a "neo feminist romeo and juliet" that's written by kelsie (the pianist). also the on stage version of when there was me and you is sooo much better because troy is also in it!
