Pricing is a HUGE issue!!
@jimbeam4111
@jimbeam4111 11 месяцев назад
It’s more overall inflation. With food and energy prices up people have less disposable income. Couple that with the Fed raising interest rates to attempt to curb inflation as well as wanting wages to come down and people just don’t have the cash to go to Disney.

@dave_7235 11 месяцев назад
@@adventures7247 Do you have to screw around on your phone all day once you buy the express? It's been a while since I've done it (late 2021), but the deal used to be you had to choose if you wanted to buy the express ticket that would let you use it more than once on any specific ride, or the one that you could use only once on each ride. Then it was just you had it or you did not. No picking a time, seeing what's available, etc. It was S I M P L E. (I admit it was a bit expensive, but it was certainly less hassle) There were I believe only 2 rides that were not covered by express during that trip, Hagrid's (which was still very new, and using virtual queue) and Velocicoaster (which IIRC was just new enough that it was not eligible for express, so was Standby only, I think). Aside from that I was not terribly smart when it came to which day I picked to do Universal (I went on a Saturday when Express cost me about the same as the ticket, it would have been a lot cheaper on a weekday), I was happy with the money spent and how enjoyable my day at Universal was.
@adventures7247
@adventures7247 11 месяцев назад
@@dave_7235 sure! But when just talking price for a 1 day 2 park with priority access... and this is one time priority access not unlimited... Universal is almost double the price. That's apples to apples. Now you add in having to book lightning lanes or hopping in express lines, That's apples to oranges. Would I spend $250+ for 1 day 2 park ticket with 1 time express at Uni... no. Would I spend $200 for a parkhopper ticket with Genie... yes. I know how to use Genie... it's not as hard as everyone makes it out to be albeit i think it's stupid that you have to make a reservation to ride a ride or see a show for priority access.... But the positive for me is, I have a better chance of getting a lightning lane on some of the tier 1 rides than I had with fastpass+.

They can't. Profit only can go one direction, no matter how or at what cost. Lower profit means crashing stock price which means dying company and the vultures aill be in line to buy at a discount, tear it to pieces and sell it off in chunks and pocket the difference. That is why companies can never turn back. It pretty much never happens. All the can do is double down and become more exploitative to increase profit per customer further.

A 6 day park hopper for 2 is $1400! The last time I went to WDW it was a week in August 2019. I stayed at Pop and had access to the Magical Express, Extra Magic Hours, the quick service DDP, a night at Not So Scary, free magic bands, fast passes, and even sprung for a rental car. For two people, it was $3500 all-in. Now I’m looking and it’s about $4200 off site with none of the perks. A $700 increase is already a lot but tacking on the fact that they’re taking away from the magic of the experience is what I think really hurts the most.

Lightning lane is killing the parks. So many people don't pay it and fill up the non queue lines making the parks seem far busier than they would be. We need a return to FP+. That would save Disney. In the UK our Disney tickets are now the equivalent of $715 for a 14 day ticket. Multiply that by the number of people (3 in my case) and its $2145. Disney under Chapek put it up too high and only a reduction or some giveaways like free dining and FP+ will bring the numbers back.

It's obvious that Disney doesn't really know it's ass from a hole in the ground. Overwhelmingly, the biggest group of customers (guests) are blue collar families. Yet Disney doesn't recognize that fact. The biggest turn around they could hope for is to cater to that group of people. The adults in that demographic came to WDW as a child and want to make those same kind of memories with their kids. But unfortunately Disney has priced that group out. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. Iger needs to be fired immediately if not sooner. The board of directors also needs to go. As a Brazilian Disney fan that have been many times to the Florida and the California parks (never traveling with tourist groups), I can tell you :US Disney parks and the US as a vacation destination is crazy expensive after the pandemic. I have been to Europe last year and this year will be Japan. The only thing that is more expensive in my Japan trip is the flight, everything else is like 1/2 the price of the US, especially Disney, just Google the tkts price in Tokyo, the price of meals, even Mickey ears (they cost around 13 dollars in Japan, inside the parks). There’s a Crystal Palace buffet in Tokyo for 1/2 the price of the one in Orlando. And there’s never a broken down attraction. A friend send me a message this week saying he was at AK and half of the mechanical attractions were down. To travel from Brazil all the way to experience that? 😤So, I’m going somewhere else, and many Brazilians are doing the same. I’m basically traveling for 25 days to many places in Japan for the same price of a 12 day Orlando trip. Let’s not even talk about the crazy tip culture nowadays in the US. People asking for tips in counter services. Tipping in Japan is considered offensive, that alone in a long trip for a family makes a big budget difference.

I've lived in Florida my whole life. Summer here is indeed brutal, and many people avoid the parks at this time of year. It's considered the slower season. But the humidity and heat aren't the problem. Universal is busy as usual. The prices, detheming, organizational hassles with Genie and Lightening lane, and all the absolute bulkshiznit you have to go through at Disney parks, is the problem. People are sick of it, and finding better ways to spend thier time and money. Not to mention all the politics and discord within the company, and with its fans. Thank you, Brayden! I am not as kind toward the Emperor as you are.... At the expense of Walt Disney's genius, Iger and his shareholders affected a hostile corporate takeover. Now they are getting screwed... as they so richly deserve. For a guy who thinks he's a media genius, Iger is a fool... and a loser. My family had been going to WDW every year for years and years, owned stock, owned DVC. I started to notice serious changes in the WDW experience that I did not like in 2007. The Iger impact. It was only downhill from there. By 2010 I was actively expressing a total lack of desire to waste my time there. The stock was sold. The DVC was sold. We have not been since the fall of 2019 (we had some real die-hard Disney fans). We will never go back. If there is anyone working for Disney who actually understands Disney, they are clearly being side-lined. It will be interesting to see how the political and economic situations in the US and for Disney guests from across the globe play out against climate issues.

There are many ways to wow guests. You can build a 200 million dollar ride or pay a talented entertainer to be in a dead spot in the park. Remember the magician guy at Hollywood studios that would drive up in a tiny car, set up a table and hold hundreds of people spell bound with zero thought of having to get to the next ride line. Just like with a good movie it is emotion you should seek to activate in park guests. You can do this with a surprise, with something new, something good, or something massively huge and expensive. One of the reasons people love retailers like the dollar tree is a lot to do with the price but they continually rotate what you see when you enter the store so every time you return there is something new to see.
