You know it almost looks like that expansion that connects between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure would more than likely require a Park Hopping ticket in order to enjoy. Almost like the Hogworth Express at Universal Orlando Resort.

The expansion merges the park instead of building a third park. The whole reason for the expansion of disneyland was to make it a multi-day park but with them hitting a wall in space by merging the lands and making both parks so huge attraction wise compared to the other parks it could make it a consistent 3 day or 4 day park instead of 2. At this rate it is just not feasible for disney to add a 3rd park but this direction is an incredible way to expand disneyland on it's way to 75 years. (Just give me the tommorow land remodel first please)

Thank you for explaining. I’ve been wondering how Disney and Anaheim would interact once Covid was over, since I think the lockdowns has taught Anaheim that they need the park. It’ll be interesting to see if Anaheim supports or fights against this plan.

Just a clarification re Disneyland Paris, it DID reopen for a few months from July 2020 - October 2020, then had to close again at the start of November due another national lockdown in France, and has been closed since. Loved the video as always, you present everything so well! :)

I’m glad they’re not shotgunning a response to Comcast. They’ve seen that while a new park or land in Orlando will temporarily pull gate numbers away, it’s not worth responding with another Avatar level disaster.

No one has mentioned that in the Disneyland Forward expansion concept art, the monorail stop at Disney Springs would now be located in the DCA expansion area. Meaning you could take the monorail from DCA to Disneyland just like they do at Universal Orlando to IOA.

I just wish they would expand Disneyland Paris even more, i know the studios park is getting an expansion but it’s all stuff we’ve seen before, e.g: marvel land at Disneyland, Frozen at Hong Kong and Tokyo, and Star Wars at WDW, they need more new and exciting things, this park has so much potential and so much room to expand!

This is great news! Brayden do you know of a website involved with the City of Anaheim that Californians or everyone can send letters in support of Disneyland. I’d love to help their efforts for a better city business climate. I’ve lived in Santa Monica most my life, and the only thing Disney has done for the city is improve its appearance and desirability. Yet, it has always fought Disney every step of the way! Even now Anaheim is fine, but as a kid it was very sketchy with a lot of decay an poverty!

This is a huge pie in the sky. Remember Westcot? Remember Disney's America? I just cannot see this happening.

To be honest, I wouldn't even want any of these "potential expansions" coming to Disneyland. The blue sky concept art seems to show this Peter Pan area coming to DCA, and what do the two even have to do with one another? Not that I think it'll happen obviously, but the audacity to even suggest it is problematic. Bob Chapek and crew are so creatively bankrupt that I would rather not have any expansion at all.

I hope it’s an expansion for Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. The parks don’t get expanded often so this is a good opportunity. I would love for Anaheim to eventually have a 3rd park, but right now they should focus on the 2 existing parks.

I always had a great amount of respect for what Mike Eisner was able to do in his time as Disney's CEO. Think about all that was done during that time that we take for granted. You build on the shoulders of giants! Think Hollywood studios and Animal Kingdom in Orlando and the rebirth of Animation.

Um....Mario Kart is totally Rise of the Resistance Level, not to mention the 4 years or so of updates the Orlando version will get. I also think the expansion across the street from both parks could be the 3rd gate. Tear down the hotels and boom perfect 3rd gate.

The makeup of the Anaheim council is different than it was before. The Harry Sidhu the current mayor of Anaheim is much more Disney-friendly than Tom Tait was so I think they have a better chance of getting something done. It seems unlikely but it’s possible that this could be done in time for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. But they’d have to move quickly.

They need to do stuff In the immediate future. Disneyland can put a Land in front of Indy show building in the Picnic Area.

You're mistaken on Disneyland Paris never reopening. It did reopen on July 15, 2020 then closed again on Oct. 30, 2020. It hasn't reopened since then though.

This looks like a preliminary 10-20 year master plan for the development of Disneyland Resort. Like you said, first and foremost Disney needs Anaheim to approve rezoning the parking lots for multi-use “integrated development”

Does anyone else feel like Disney should build a third gate instead of expanding there existing parks? Disneyland and California Adventure are already massive compared to the individual parks at Disney World. I just feel like there’s no need to expand the existing parks as there is improvements to be made that don’t require expanding the park. Plus this expansion would mean having to spend multiple days at just one park! Which to me is absurd. Disney needs to realize that if they want to make DLR a week vacation like WDW than there best option is to open a third gate.

PS: the “net profitability” translates to extreme overwork for CM’s so they can bring back the bare minimum.

The only problem is that the city council won't hear the plans till 2023. AVATAR is on the concept art too.

Of course it's all Fantasyland crap. I like Fantasyland as much as the next person, but why couldn't they put more effort in offering tantalizing possibilities? Why not tease expanding Mr. Toad's Wild Ride so it serves as a replacement for Magic Kingdom's extinct attraction, or a revitalization of Frontierland, or something with Tomorrowland?

In regards to the eastside Parking Lot, I think this whole Disneyland Forward Campaign is Disney signaling they want to be more up front with their plans and work with the cities concerns at the earliest possible sages instead of dictating the plans and then having them fail like they have in the past. I believe that Disney feels they need to expand the parks, but they can not afford to keep spending money on designing things like Eastern Gateway and the Hotel Expansion only to have them fail, they don't have the money for that. Instead what they are doing is going the other way, saying ok everyone this is what we would like to do, and why we would like to do it what do you think, what are the pitfalls and how can we work together to make this work. The reason I say this is a part of a sentence in the Renewed Eastern Gateway section specifically "...which would include a pedestrian bridge with upgraded entrance accessibility for hotels and businesses located along Harbor Boulevard." It was the lack of accessibility to the pedestrian bridge that killed the Eastern Gateway project. IF Disney would have compromised on that point the key opposition to the project would have been greatly reduced and it might have been successful. Now they are starting with conceding that point meaning they seem to be more willing to work with their Neighbors.

This is a whole Charade. They are betting Anaheim is going to deny this. Then they can say they are going to move Disneyland out of state(brick by brick if they have to and still call it Walt's park) Then the state of California may step in and give Disney more autonomy.

Very insightful video, as always! Brayden is one of the more intelligent Disney video bloggers/commentators that I know of, which is especially surprising considering he's also one of the youngest. One thing that really impresses me about this video in particular is how Brayden refers to the dynamics changing here for Disney due to the lockdowns of the past year, rather than due to "the pandemic." Almost every other discussion I've heard/read regarding this situation and similar Disneyland news stories blames only "COVID" or "the pandemic" for Disneyland's situation. However, the obvious direct source of the problem are the GOVERMENT LOCKDOWNS of economic and social activity; NOT a virus. It's a huge pet peeve of mine anytime I hear, say, DFB's AJ get this all wrong. It seems like every time that sugar-addicted, COVID-obsessed, mask-pushing goofball discusses these topics, she ignorantly blames only things like "the pandemic" or "health and safety measures" for Disney's current financial situation. She and others like her fail to comprehend that it's GOVERNMENT ACTION that has caused these problems. Brayden seems to understand these nuances, which makes him so much more intellectual than any of those other fear-mongering weirdos. I appreciate that in these times of great mass idiocy.

The Disney Forward site says that "third park" is more like Disney Springs. I don't know where people are getting third park from. Nobody that I have seen cover this has mentioned anything about a third park. If they looked at the Disney Forward site they would know the true story like you are presenting.

I did hear an rumor about Wakanda coming in the expansion side in California Adventures.

WDW needs A LOT of love in the next years. Idk if a 5th gate but definitely expansions in the MK, HS and AK. And chunky ones. If they don't go big in the next 5 years, they'll regret in 10.

I don’t understand why they are talking about expanding Disney Land. Disney World has more room for expansion and Animal Kingdom Park needs more attractions as does World Showcase at Epcot. More people visit Orlando than Anaheim. Disney World attracts an international audience. It seems like a waste of resources.

I look at it this way, if Anaheim continues to do what they are doing it wouldn't surprise me if Disney Packed up and left. They leave thats 18+ million visitors per year with all that revenue spent on items for sales tax 20,000+ employees and their income tax revenue, plus property tax revenue for all the homes they own, rental properties, hotels, restaurants all outside of Disney that also enjoy the influx of tourism. Yeah.....that would hurt far more than loosing a couple million in taxes to disney. I mean hell some basic math with some quick numbers. If every single employee at Disney Land was making 15/hr, worked 40 hours per week, 52 weeks in a year. Disney would pay 624,000,000 (we all know this is incorrect but heh need some random numbers to play with) per year with an income tax of roughly 9%. hell that is roughly 56million in income taxes, then you got the 7.75 sales tax when an average family of 4 spends roughly $1800 for a 3 day drip....8 billion in revenue generation per year, or 560 million in sales taxes interesting lots of 56s. Anyway average property tax bill was around 2,800 per home....so between 14million and 70million per year directly from Disney employees in property taxes....so you could potentially see between 600million and 700million in tax revenue which is more important than what ever little corporate taxes they would get. Seriously though you got bunches of other governmental revenue streams to consider, like excises taxes, permit fees, licenses, various other fees and costs associated with running a facility as large as Disney world with the number of employees etc. etc. won't hurt especially when you are talking about the other gains.....but meh....live goes on.....

My wife and I with our two sons were at the MK on NY eve 1999, please don't try to BS me that Disney doesn't exceed capacity, there was no where to sit all day long except on the ground, we didn't go on one ride.

half of these lands make no sense to DCAs theme. they took down the tower of terror, rethemed paradise pier to pixar pier, added an unnecessary land called avengers campus.
