Grew up with a parent like this and it has taken YEARS to wake up and realize that he wanted people to be there for him, but any time the family needed a serious issue addressed or resolved, he was all talk and no action.

Yes I had a man who would have snarky remarks about my choice to eat healthy food. He’d say dumb 💩 like I don’t need a lawn mower I could just use you to eat my grass😒. Thanks to you Deb…..giving me a piece of your mind In Your sharp no holds bar delivery….gave me the kick in pants to then deliver that same kick to my non existent relationship.

Another sign of disrespect, he mocks your hobbies, by saying the following: I was dealing with a gentleman and I told him that I was into the yoga and meditation workshops, and attend them daily, he laughed and said that those are white people activities, and I would need to find some free or cheaper hobbies, let's just say I cursed him out, never seen or heard from him again.

Same here I have been single 5 years have my own housing ,low debt ,mental is clear and health is excellent ..I have so much clarity in order for me to be with someone they have to meet my requirements at 35 I am in no rush…people come with a lot of shit and I have no desire to deal with their problems as I have mitigated my own

@@helena3631 I'm glad that you are in that place at 35,I'm in my late 40's,and I'm rebuilding my mindset. We can listen to people like Deb and others and still find ourselves putting up with things that we shouldn't,we don't see the wolf in sheep's clothing clearly. We have to stop and open our eyes and soul search and really just not be with anyone until we are better mentally.We have to keep building ourselves up and empower ourselves with teachings from wonderful mentors like Deb.

#7 I’ve noticed happens a lot when a woman is financially stable and the guy is pretending to be on the same or higher level. They can even be married and the wife is ok with them investing all their time 24-7 on a rich lady, as long as he bring home the bacon. Suddenly, you are his primary job. He’s looking to see how well you are set up so he can later rob you.

@@Debsterism well, seems like every time I'm upset, the maximum amount of guys want to approach me and talk to me and I'm not in the mood. I mean should I curb my attitude and take their number and let them know I'm not in the mood and maybe them later or what. This is a scenario that I thought of if I were looking for someone or if I were willing to accept applications for someone.

OHHHHH. I see. That's interesting that they approach when you are in a highly emotional and reactive state. I'm not liking that and don't think it's a good idea for you to allow them into your space with hope. I want you to think of all the videos I've done on controlling your emotions and how men will do and say the abolute most to yank your chain and have you in a tailspin of emotion. When you are already displaying that you are reactive and emotional in a public setting where they can see you, they don't have tofigure out if you are a mark as you are already showing them you can be triggered emotionally. All they have to do is play the role of caring about why you are upset so you spill your guts to a "listening ear" and they now have a map to yank you around at any time. I would prefer that you say something like "I'm dealing with a family crisis right now and my parents need me to be clear and focused. Thanks but this is not the time." Shut it down, don't explain details. Don't say anymore than that. Don't give your number or take theirs. Don't smile. Nothing. You want to involve yourself with a new man when you are emotionally stable and non-reactive. Make him do the work to find out who and what you are all about emotionally. Don't give him a key to the kingdom.

I see you clipped my reply. There is a gold mine of non abusive men who just want a decent women out there, many make 6 figures and above. In the black community the stereotype is black women aren't attracted to a upper middle class or low end rich dude that earns his cash legally. All they want is a decent woman who will love him and have his back. Those men think all women just want to use him and cheat on him. So I'll leave your site and the content was useful regardless.
