Great video. My table of content has taken 2 days thanks to miss information. The auto feature is fine but not for table of contents which include sections which must be formatted manually and includes using the tabs to create the leader.

Hi. Thank U for your great video. I have a problem: Some how I think I did this wrong and all of my content in the whole file is in the table of content!!! and I can't do anything because when I want to edit even a single word, my file just shut down and stops working. Also when I want to remove table all of my content removes. I'm in deep s**t. Please help me.

Don't listen to this find out videos on how to auto number title and subtitles then the table of content will be a matter of a click ! Maybe this could work for a five page essay, still not ideal, but obviously not for a thesis or dissertation.

Word has a better method for creating a table of contents which actually tracks changes in the document (chapter and section titles, page numbers...).

This is a very complicated and time consuming way of generating a ToC. Using the built "Insert ToC" function of MS Word identifies all the page numbers and heading styles in your document and automatically generates the ToC. You can then perform all of the customization seen in this video by right clicking inside your inserted ToC and modifying the 'styles'. Then you can continue on writing your paper and simply click "update table" on the inserted ToC at anytime to refresh it. You only every need to make these style choices once and MS will do the rest of the painstaking adjustments for you.
