That's not the reason behind Freya. FF9 in general has been sorta ignored by Square, with logical reason, FF7 at the time was a revolution, FF8 only continued to break more grounds. Although FF9 didn't do anything new yet, but it didn't break new grounds that FF8 already broke. It wasn't until FF10 where we got voice actors and it was the turn of a console generation that made it famous. "Furries ruined Freya" so what about the Weeabos that ruined FF7? How come Square is fine marking the hell out of FF7? The answer is simple! Popularity. With popularity means better business, and frankly FF9 isn't one of the more popular FF titles.
@@Garinovitch FFIX/9 is very much a new experience with cool triggered events and story elements unlike anything seen before. I'd say that despite FFVII being my favorite, and FFVIII always being my number 2 - that FF9 is still the best one technically as I've bene playing it recently and it is just the most impressive out of the three in terms of how the story is told.
@@mrnygren2 Oh I'm with you on that, FF9 is my favorite FF. In my honest opinion, it's one of the last FF titles that felt like an FF title. Ever since 10, FF titles have been different. I'm glad FF9 isn't as popular as the others, given recent events, I wouldn't want FF9 to get the remaster or remake treatment. While I dream of an FF9 in HD, voices, and so on, I don't thing Square would give the story and characters the respect it deserves. Hell, Square barely gave it any respect when they ported it over to PC. FF9 on PC is just a port of the mobile version.
