This is easily the best channel to learn how to do math problems without feeling like a dumb person, i love how my man takes his time out and explains how to do each problems in a very clear way. thank you brother i learned more about math here then i did in any of my classes keep up the good work
I have watched every single one of your videos from the beginning of your channel! I never understood math until your videos! You are a gift. 💞💞 I take the asvab tomorrow! Wish me luck. UPDATE : I passed with a 55🥳
So I took the pretest today at the recruitment office. First time I scored a 6 and this time I scored a 26. Even tho I didn't qualify I wouldn't have gotten that far with out your videos thank you Grammar Hero!!!
Ever since I was a kid I have always had a mental block in my head when it came to math. My anxiety would get so bad when it came to test. I could never truly focus because I already have told myself for years that I would never be good at math even if I did study. You My friend, have proved me wrong, and all the self deception I have had on math is starting to fade away. I am starting to approach math problems with more poise than before and its all thanks to you grammar hero. I appreciate all what you do for thousands of people all around the world. It is truly a blessing :)
oh my god. I spent the last 3-4 hours trying to figure out distance problems in terms of traveling at different directions (yes, I'm THAT slow) but your shortcut saved me so much time. I know this is 2 years old but thank you so much. As someone who is straight up an idiot at math, this channel is a lifesaver
Your a life saver man! I take my next test next month since I failed the first time I got a 15 which is bad! But these videos really give me a lot of confidence in me to make a way higher grade than last time! Thank you bro!
On Question 8, I found a quick way to solve it without a system using the combined rate method. Use D=R*T like normal and solve for each rate. 1800/3 = 600 for WITH rate 1800/4 = 450 for the AGASINT rate Add the rates. 600+450 = 1050 1050/2 rates = 525 for the STILL SPEED rate Last part, Jetstream speed is just WITH rate (600) - STILL rate (525) 600-525= 75. Love your videos man. Thanks for the help.
Of course, the beauty about math is that there can be multiple valid solutions to complex problems. That said, I wouldn't necessarily agree that using a system of equations is slower: when you have to draw diagrams and explain every little step so you can reach a wide audience, things just seem slower. Let me know how the ASVAB goes!
Can’t thank you enough for these videos GH, they’re a god send. They’re so simple with all the real important points. Starting from basic problems to more challenging ones makes it so much easier to understand and the pace at which you work is perfect. We appreciate it!!
Your videos have helped me immensly in preparing for the AFOQT. I have to say, whoever can solve questions 7 and 8 in the 60 seconds (average) that you have to solve each question on the real test, is an absolute braniac!
Thank you 🙌🏽 I’m taking the ASVAB next month and I had trouble Distance rate and time and now that I’ve worked every problem with you I understand this now than ever. I feel like I can teach a class on d=rt . Keep up the good work!
Over the course of almost 2 months I have completed abt 80% of ur videos , you have been of a tremendous help, I have one last video to tackle and that’s 15 hours long lol 5 hours a days let’s go !🙏🏾 thanks again grammar hero
My newer videos are better than my older ones, including the 15-hour one, since I was still new to RU-vid when I made it. If you've watched 80% of my videos, you should be good to go.
@@GrammarHero yea I realized that there’s a repetition on some videos in the 15 hour video bt I’m still working my way through it , appreciate ur effort
Just wanted to say Ive been watching your videos over and over again , & just recently took one of your practice test it said my predicted afqt score was 32 to 49 im going to study a little bit more and honestly I think ill be ready thanks for your videos !
Thank you GH, watching your videos was the best decision I made because I did not know how solve this type of problems but now I’m getting the hang of it. You deserve a Sub!
THANK YOU! My math teacher is not from America and her english is bad so understanding her explanations on these problems are really hard. Thx so much.
Thank you!, I think I think I understand the concept of doing the distance formula on much better! Hopefully, it will be on my ASVAB which I will soon be taking..
I’m trying to study for the ASVAB after getting a 27. I started off with your much older and longer videos but is there a specific one that you suggest I start with ? It feels like I’m going about it all wrong but could be all in my head. Help ?
In your case, here's what I'd recommend: 1. Work through my playlist called A Review of the Basic Math Topics for the ASVAB: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jBDsubye5XY.html 2. Then take as many practice tests from my ASVAB Practice Tests playlist as you can: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yw6wDoGxF3o.html Good luck!
You should do questions that use a simular equation more than just 1 time, even 2 or 3 similar questions will be better so that I can understand the different types of equations needed for each problem.
Been studying all of these math videos. Retaking my asvab next week 1/17. Scored a 40 my first try, hoping to get a better score this second time to get the rate I want.
@@demanthib.5955 for the MK and AR I saw a lot of dividing and multiplying fractions, decimals and distance rate and change. A lot changing fractions to decimals and so on. Highly recommend to go through all his math videos to touch up because there’s many versions of the asvab test. Hope this helps.
39:10, shouldn't the answer be 0.25 hours and not 2.25 hours. Because t is the time of the helicopter whereas the question is asking on the time of the f-14 which is t-2; 2.25-2, 0.25
Thank you so much man this video is so helpful, you are a lifesaver! That last question was complicated and i am definitely going to review it 5 times until i memorize the process, again thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Dude you are so helpful thanks a lot taking it next week, have a question tho that I can never figure out it says the ratio of red and blue marbles is 3/4 and red to white is 4/5 what is the ratio of blue to white ? And the answers were frictions like 3/8 amd 8/3 and 3/4 something like that stuff and I couldn’t fine anyone similar in the videos
Apparently I'm so dumb that I'm stuck on this topic and can't move forward, as it came to difficult tasks. You are awesome, thank you for posting such beneficial videos!
You're welcome. Did you understand the the first few problems? The word problems at the end of this video were meant to be very challenging, by the way!
@@GrammarHero I have already moved there)) It took me longer than others probably. But, I was able to understand something at least a little. Apparently, the fact that I graduated from school 15 years ago affects this. Thank you for your support!
I love the vid, but I am very confused about question 6. I can't wrap my head around how it would take the fighter jet 2.25 hours to catch up to the helicopter. In one hour the jet would have traveled 900 miles from point 0, while the helicopter would have traveled 300 miles from point 0 (counting the 2 hour head start). If you could please help me out with a logical explanation, I've been stressing a lot about his problem. Thanks!
As I mentioned in the video, some of the problems in this video are very difficult. So, I wouldn't stress over just one problem. As long as you generally understand how to solve basic problems involving distance, rate, and time, you'll be good to go on test day. Toward the end of almost all of my videos, I usually ramp up the difficulty by quite a lot.
I was also thinking there is something probably wrong with the solution. I solved it differently and I had the time to be 0.25hrs. This means in 0.25hrs the jet would have travelled 225mi which is the same distance that the helicopter would have covered (200+100*0.25)
Hey for questions #6. Is it meant to be 2.25 hours or were we meant to find t by taking the 2.25 hours and subtracting 2, making the actual time .25 hours. It would make more sense at .25 hours due to the Helo only traveling 200 miles in 2 hours while the jet is traveling 1800 miles in 2 hours. Let me know your thoughts.
To solve for the time (t) it takes for the fighter jet to catch up to the helicopter, we let their distances be equal to each other. In addition, we also accounted for the helicopter's head start when we set up the chart by adding t - 2 for the fighter jet's time. In light of the above, there's no need to account for the head start at the end of the problem; we already did that while solving.
@@GrammarHero Thanks man. I appreciate your hard work. I believe I have come away from spam watching your videos with a better knowledge of the mathematics reasoning portion. Looking to get a GT score of 110 so I can try to commission. Would you recommend to study a portion of the AFQT more than any other?
It's up to you. If you feel as if you're good with AR, MK, PC, and WK, then you may want to study for general science, too. Most of the other subtests are common sense.
@Grammer Hero and @Jose Galindez - For question #6, the math is accurate however there is an error in how the answer was stated. As shown in the table, t represents the time the Helio travelled, and t - 2 represents the time the F-14 travelled. Therefore, t=2.25 hours is how long the Helio was traveling, and t - 2 (which is: 2.25 - 2 = .25 hours) is how long the F-14 was traveling. The answer is that the F-14 travelled for .25 hours (t - 2, where t=2.25) to catch up to the Helio. Thank you for making these videos. It's a helpful resource for many people, and you do a great job explaining. Much appreciated!
Just wanted to say big thank you for what you're putting out there, it means alot. Now about question 6, how is it going to take 2.25 Hours for an F-14 to catch-up with a helicopter 🚁 😳 . 900×2.25? Helicopter went East at the rate of 100MPH for 2 Hours, 200miles away F-14 going at the rate of 15mpm. So it's going to take F-14 13.33333 minutes to get there??! Help me with this please and thank you.
Since the fighter jet was delayed by two hours, you have to include those two hours in the answer. It may take the fighter jet 25 minutes to catch the helicopter as soon as it starts flying, but again, it was delayed by two hours. The question could probably be worded a littler better, but it's not asking how long the jet flew to catch the helicopter. It's asking how long it took in total, including the time it was delayed.
@@GrammarHero thank you for the fast reply. I got a 22 in my first try on the ASVAB im only going to use your videos to study for the test. I'll update this comment in 27days.
@@amirhossein4629 If you watch my videos, you should be able to double or even triple your original score! Good luck! By the way, the question is very challenging, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Beyond that, it's also poorly worded!
IM TESTING AGAIN IN 4 DAYS💪 I watched most of your math videos and on the hardest one I got 99% right I feel very confident can't wait to share my result with everyone on your channel 🙌
If I created worksheets for these videos, no one would have a reason to watch them! Honestly, I would just copy the problems down as you work them out.
@@GrammarHero I get what you're saying, but I just meant like a sheet with, for example, 10-20 questions on it just to test what we have learned from your videos. And a separate printout with the answer key on it maybe. 🤷🏾♂️
took a practice test got 45-50 and i didn't study however i used to watch your videos about a year ago. Doing two weeks of studying, im using this ASVAB guide playlist. are there any other videos i should watch??
I suck so bad at math its not even funny. I failed my asvab 2 times already. I feel like this is the most challenging part for me since i was never into math let alone school. Physically and mentally i feel so ready.
Everything you need to study for this test is freely available on my channel! If you put in the effort to learn the information on my channel, you'll able to make pass it on your third try! Good luck!
Meet all of the following objectives before test day: -Learn and memorize these formulas: www.asvabapp.com/Reference.pdf -Learn these math topics using my channel or, if you don't like my style, with Khan Academy/the Organic Chemistry Tutor: www.asvabapp.com/checklist.pdf -Take ten or so practice tests on my website (www.asvabapp.com/) or using the Kaplan Test Prep Book -Learn these 2,400 vocabulary words: www.vocabtest.com/ (Grades 6th to AP Senior) If you do the above, you will be good to go!
If you're going to score above 70, chances are high that you'll see at least one problem involving a system of equations, although it may not include distance, rate, or time. It may just be a simple problem in which you have to solve a system of equations.
I had a question that said (a plane is 32,000 feet above sea level, if it descends at a rate of 1000feet per minute how many minutes will it take to reach 3000 feet above sea level) is this a distance rate and time problem? what's the answer? (I think this is how the question was phrased I kinda of forgot)
Wouldn't the answer for #6 be 4.5 hours? In your example you showed that the helicopter travels for 100 MPH but since 2 hours have passed, that would make it 200 miles of distance. 900/200 = 4.5. I'm not sure why you only accounted for 100 miles of distance since it has already been two hours that have passed and the helicopter is going 100MPH.
The Organic Chemistry Tutor has some good videos on how to deal with minutes and hours. Check this out one for more help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0nPuCgkc77E.html
Have you contacted a recruiter and taken a practice test yet? Honestly, your score on that practice test will help you determine how long you have to study.
@@GrammarHero yes I have taken my first practice test and I scored 11. I guess I need to complete the whole playlist first and then retake it when I’m ready.
You could do that, or you could do the following: 1. Work your way through my playlist called Algebra Review for the ASVAB: ru-vid.com/group/PLhlU-GzAQeG32uoM-Brd8JueNwDHZWz-o 2. Work your way through my playlist called Geometry Review for the ASVAB ru-vid.com/group/PLhlU-GzAQeG1BzuI5ecUqykpMQnIXSN86 3. Work your way through my ASVAB Math Boot Camp playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLhlU-GzAQeG2ete7N8QjR2dDN_CaIH67z That should be enough to help you make significant improvements. Good luck!
In the practice problem you converted 45 min to 3/4 of an hour to .75 and then on the word problems you converted half an hour to 1/2 to .5, wouldnt 30 minutes be 2/4 to .50?
If the numerator and denominator are both divisible by 2, 3, or 5, you can generally simplify the fraction. Of course, in my video called prime numbers and divisibility tests, you can learn the quick mental math tricks you can use to determine if a number is divisible by 2, 3, or 5: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GgYlX7P3Aug.html That information is also in my reference sheet: www.asvabapp.com/Reference.pdf
As long as you understand most of this video, you should be good to go. The last few questions are designed to be challenging. If you watch enough of my videos, you should notice a pattern: for the most part, I start out with really simply questions, and I end with really challenging ones.
33:45 for a similar chase question that wants to know the real time instead of the hours B catches up with A: how do i translate the answer to time? Plane leaves at 3:30pm traveling at 300mph and a jet leaves 1.5 hours later traveling at 450mph. What time will the jet catch up? Using the chart I got t = -4.5 and im confused on what to do with that result to get a real time answer
