Disturbed "The Sound Of Silence" 03/28/16 - REACTION.CAM 

Draiman just put a LOT of naysaying critics to bed for good! My god I have always loved the song, could nbot stand Simon and Garfunkels voices to be honest. This song has just been covered in a way I have NEVER seen in my life time. I ve have been a heavy metal guitarist since 1987, and I have never heard a Metal Centered Vocalist with his skills EVER. AND I think Draiman just flipped the bird to the critics. Sitting on a Bar Stool, maintaining projection along is just not supposed to be possible sitting. Such a lyrical masterpiece. Paul Simon knows how to write. I wrote a lead score on electric guitar that follows vocals, People would pay to NOT hear me sing. Who the hell could dream of following that Guy!! Short end of the story WOW!!!!! When I listen, I totally forget everything in my mind, but the song, now that takes an epic piece to do that to me. This piece is far beyond that. If you watch a persons reactions to this song, they cannot hide their souls, I have never seen people react so strongly to any song in my memory. It makes them expose their souls a little.

Yep, it's rare that a cover exceeds the original, but Disturbed nailed it on this one.

I play Heavy Metal Guitar, and I have been doing that since 85, played Guitar since 78. Being in the Genre soooo long you get acclimated to a certain kind of talent, and Im probably repeating myself here, but I cannot think of any Vocalist in memory that has the range, and ability that David Draiman has, he is a truly gifted and blessed individual. Dramain appears to be a very well educated man, he carries himself well. I have heard that he is a very kind individual when it comes to his fans. I wrote a lead guitar piece that follows his lyrics, I did it so I could play along, and put the songs emotion into my guitar , and let her speak for me, as Folks would pay me to NOT sing HAHAHA. I too can listen to this piece over and over again. Very few songs get the attention and homework that Draiman obviously put into it , Draimans version took a legendary song, and bumped it up to a level I have never seen before, and by that I simply have never heard a song that gets the same type of review. Half a MILLION likes !!! I rarely post on the internet, let along give this much opinion on anything, that is precisely how moved I was by this rendition. No offense to Simon and Garfunkel, but Draiman is just what Sound of Silence needed, just never thought he would deliver it in a Thermonuclear Bombshell like that !!!!

Yeah he is an amazing person, and quite humble I always though he had a unique powerful voice, I had no Idea he could do something like this.

Can this brother listen to LP - Muddy Waters, or Lost on Me? Or both. That’d be interesting.

We have to be better at spreading information about David, he was NOT trained classically in the terms of classical training he was trained as a Jewish Cantor. There’s a difference between a classically trained singer like Avi Kaplan vs David Draiman! People think he was classically trained like Avi but he wasn’t!

I hope it might got you to listen to a bit of their more "normal" stuff and yeah i know that´s metal. But they have other great songs also with great messages in them.

@ Justin - Someone else commented that Simon and Garfunkel's version was a warning, and Disturbed's version was rage because the warning was not heeded. I think this gives honor to both versions. I love them both.

Never autotune! I saw them live a few times, and he definitely doesnt need it...one of the best vocalists ever!!

@@maryjanemckenrick6749 David was ill during this performance so post production, without his knowledge, added autotune and when David found out he was very upset.

Maryjane Mckenrick Apparently this one did have autotune because he was incredibly sick and the studio insisted on it. But he sings it incredibly well without auto tune.

His voice is amazing!! I'm not crazy about hard metal music, but some of Disturbed is not too bad! I became a fan after hearing this. I love the original of Sound of Silence and this one is just as good. Of course a different sound but then again it's a different time!!

Disturbed is one of the best live bands I've ever seen. They're on tour right now, I highly recommend going to see them if they come to your area

daddyde24 , Passenger dose an amazing solo performance with this song. Hes no Barry White, however you can see the emotions taking over his voice and his fight to control it. The song you should give a try with is "From Eden" by Hozier. Be blessed good sir

Shawn Lowery I'm a middle aged nerd as well. I recommend 21 Pilots. Very eclectic repitoir. I would say they blend almost every known musical genre. Their fans refer to them as Schizophrenic Pop.

Anyone trying anything new can be brave. Nothing racist there. Now saying HE is the one that must be especially cool if he's white and wants to review something? How about we all just love the music. These are like the most positive videos I have seen in a long time. It's sharing amazing stuff. Don't blow it please?

MrTech226 true! David Draiman said in an interview, he would only agree to do the song if it was done as close to the original as possible! Paul Simon sent David a message saying it was the best cover of this song that he has ever heard and he 100% backed David with this!

Actually, Paul Simon endorsed this video. The first recording by Simon and Garfunkel was a warning to mankind to start communicating. The video of 'Sound of Silence' was supposed to be the SECOND WARNING, ENDORSED BY PAUL SIMON, and comes across angrier and absolutely enraged by how people did not heed the warning for 50 years. And on the left side of the bank, are people with instruments and on the right side of the river bank are the people with the music and they cannot come together to make the music unless they communicate properly, and they finally did and what came out of it was a boat so that it could pick up the people on the left and take them to the people on the right and they could finally make music, no more silence. It was stressing the importance of communication - MUSIC. I thought people might want to know the accurate version.

What's funny is he was concerned about fitting in with Disturbed. He was in a Jazz funk fusion band before and didnt know if he had the chops to pull off being Disturbed's front man. At that point, his only training was to be a cantor. His classical training wasnt until after Disturbed had put out a couple albums.
