Just finished making this! I even customized it a little by adding a heart decal on the back rest and painted it robins egg blue! Wish I could post a picture on here. Looks amazing

Just finished making this with my hubby and it turned out awesome! Sanded it down and rounded the rough edges with a sander and I'm in love! Now to mount the hardware and apply a finish and we're done! You are such an inspiration and we will be making many more of your projects. Thank YOU!!!!!

Thanks for the tutorial. I successfully built one. One word, however, and that is the cost. I spent double the amount and half of that was in the hardware.

Another great idea… however I’ve felt like your pricing on just about everything is way off… hardware alone for this was $30… not including lumber and paint.

Try and find a way to put something like a 15 degree bevel (105 degrees) on the back piece, 90 seems like it would be really uncomfortable...

Pocket hole jig is a pretty basic tool available at the local hardware store for a pretty low price. Standard butt joints are not nearly as strong.

Hey! The 2 bottom holes, that house the the eyebolt for the chain went through the frame so a lock washer and nut could go on. The top eyebolts won’t go all the way through so putting a washer and nut on them seems impossible. How did you attach the top eyebolts to hang the chain?

I have a question....I have been wanting to build some outdoor pieces (a bunch of them!). Some of the plans say to use regular wood and some say to use treated lumber. My question is: If I use regular wood, how do you protect it from the elements or should I just use treated lumber?Thank you ladies!
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 7 лет назад
What they did is a great way to protect against the elements...paint. Multiple coats of paint would be best. That's why we still paint the exterior of houses...paint resists the elements about as good as anything. Good luck with the building!

@BruceAUlrich

Paint will hold up a little better outdoors. If you do go with stain, put some kind of clear finish over it so that it can resist the elements more easily.

Love all your videos and plans! Can you use pine if it's an outdoor swing and not under a porch? Could I still use pine and seal it? Or would I need to use cedar? Thanks!
@michellelemon6545
@michellelemon6545 2 года назад
I think you can use any durable wood if you seal it
@michellelemon6545
@michellelemon6545 2 года назад
“Pine does not naturally resist decay, and it is pressure treated to make it more durable outdoors. So cedar gains a bit here with its natural character contributing to its durability. Pine is still a good choice for outdoor furniture, it just doesn't naturally resist the elements as strongly as cedar does.”
