DIY - 2004 Mercedes SL55 R230 GLOVE BOX WONT OPEN FIX (so annoying!! Easy fix)
Had the issue that many others do with a R2 30 SL model with my glove box that would not open. Mine is a 2004 for SL55 And thanks to one of the forum members I found that there was a side panel you could open to get access to a white ring that’s like a tensioner against a cable that attaches to the button that opens your glove box and released from the latch. You either have to tighten or loosen that white wheel holding the cable which apparently loses its tension.
I used a coat hanger and cut it on each end and use that to in my case to push and rotate the white ring away from the open door and after that the glove box works perfectly.
