That's very well done. But an easier solution would be to just buy a used Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3. It's a rugged 8" tablet with a high resolution designed to be dust, vibration and waterproof, along with a SIM card for data, physical buttons for use with gloves, a bright screen to be used outdoors, a faster processor that typical mid sized Android tablets and a touchscreen that can be used with regular gloves. It can be powered hard wired without a battery if desired and several companies such as Brodit and RAM make mounts for it.
That is awsome, how is the longevity on the 3d printed parts? I want to put a GPS bar on my super tenere, and I was thinking about making it 3d printed, but I'm worried about longevity of the piece
The tablet model is lenovo tab m7. tools necessary; soldering iron, heat gun, screwdriver, etc. I'm using iphone therefore I don't have chance to connect as it is an android tablet.
The setup looks great, although the Lenovo display can not be seen under sunlight , look at the Tripltek tablet , it looks sleek and at the same time it has 1300 nits
How did you make it waterproof? Doesn't water seep in between the front frame piece and the display? How did you fix the back piece to the front frame piece? I mean, did you glue it? What type of glue?
To make it waterproof I used T-7000 glue to fix front piece and tablet screen.I printed these pieces with ABS thats why the best glue for abs is %99,9 Acetone.
@@nzferby Thanks. The 3D model is a bit large for the printer at the service I normally use. Trying to find a new place. My friend has a Tab 7 lying around and is ready to give me (in return for a few beers). So, really hopeful 😄. BTW, how is the quality of the GPS fix?
BUTTON : motowoks.com/products/4-pin-cable-button-for-850c I removed the battery to avoid problems under the sun. i canceled the sd card to make it waterproof..👍
Yeah ok. Thanks for the link.. In the middle of printing one for my Africa Twin. Modded the model a bit to give more offest from the mounting point and changed the T7 to AT..:)
Hi, thank you for this video, i love it so much, i decided to make it for my bike too. How did you connect tablet to the bike? What is inside the connector at 1:19? So must you wait for tablet start every time you start motorcycle ? Thanks
There are 4 wires inside the socket. 2 wires for power. 2 wires for power. I converted 12 volts to 4.2 volts from the engine's battery and connected it to the tablet like a battery. A small tip, the small circuit on the battery should be removed and used.yes, every time I start the engine, if I want to turn on the tablet, I press and hold the power button and turn it on.
It´s only 350 nits, i have problem with my Samsung FE20 and that have 823 nits, and i have trouble to se in sunlight, but it´s seems ok on your video.hmm
@@nzferby Thank you. I'm making the same one for myself. The model has already been printed on a 3D printer. Now I'm looking for a tablet on the secondary market.
