Awesome job, I love that it rolls, so that you can move it around and your use of aluminum to protect the wood of years of use. Perhaps the best well done gym bench on RU-vid!
My Gosh! I am speechless... "What a Quality/technique"! Unfortunately, there are few qualified professionals to do such a job! Congrats, God bless you!
D'ya know, I didn't know what I was going to think of this going in to the video. But this is a really great design and implementation. Great engineering!
there are many similar diy wooden incline /flat benches on RU-vid , I have added my own special touch ie , adjustable front seat etc & other mods,,,, hey ! ,,,, thanks for your comment , glad you liked my video ' cheers;
very good project and very well executed! robust and stable, safe and very functional. excellent job! congratulations! The best wooden bench I've ever seen.
Perfect.... Thanks for helping me to make some thing uniqe for my son with my own hands.. Wood live longer than us.. To tell that how we loved how we cared.. Thank you
thanks !!! constructing the front mechanism for the small seat was a challenge ! I also found myself asking '' what am I doing '' ...finally I got it right,, thanks again Brent .
Great build! One suggestion for anyone else watching, once you’ve made those shallow relief cuts, hit them from the side with the hammer directly; they’ll mostly break pretty close to the bottom anyway then you can continue to clean them out as shown
impeccable craftsmanship. My only thought is the strength that the arms will provide in the inclined position. The rest of the bench could hold a tank. Overall......5 stars.
Thanks Rod , during lockdown I made / sold (4) additional incline benches .... from the feedback to this day they are all 100% functional , I added (2) additional blocks for the rear incline's as seen at the end of the video ...... the thought of adding a metal plate along the wooden arms may be on the cards for future build ... cheers Rod .
smashing job on it... definitely not a cost-savings project, as the materials and work that went into it, not to mention the amount of tools needed, would far outweigh the cost of a good solid bench available from sports shops. Nice to be able to stand back and say "I made that" though
Absolutely love the video and the craftmanship. Dont you if you still read the reactions but if so, a question. In your opinion, could you lower/shorten the back leg in order to give it a negative incline for sit ups? Or would that cause problems in stablity or mechcanics?
hi , Interesting question 💡 ,,, that could be possible,,,,,, matter of fact very possible !! it would NOT cause structural instability , however the arms would need to be longer , I would also have to devise a detachable mechanism to secure both ankles...... excellent question young man 👏
Wow, I've been looking around to build a bench and this is the best thus far, I'm ready to Build this, any plans available ?? but the video is a good tutorial
G'day Alex , good question, I don't have any plans at the moment , time permitting I should draft / save my plans on PDF - perhaps post it on Pinterest....this is all new to me
@@wallytrinc9885 That would be Creat, I can wing it following Videos but plans would make it so much easier, I will be buying the needed products and start building this, making for my son who is just starting to work out, This By far is the best I've seen Thank you for sharing Cheers
Wally, I watched spellbound for the entire video. I can't tell you how inspiring it was to see such precise cuts, fitments, and woodcraft. Incredible. Now I'm totally obsessed with building a bench like this myself. Thank you for sharing your process in such detail! May I ask, what is that black U shaped metal piece you used for the handle? @21:08 Is that purloined from a rolling suitcase or is it from a store as is? Lastly, "Wally Wood" is the name of one of my favorite comic artists from the golden age. Will be watching more of your vids. Keep up the incredible work, my friend!
''WoW'' You win ,,, this is the best compliment I have received on my little channel. ''Ever'' I put a lot of thought & effort on this bench - thank you for noticing . The U shaped metal piece you are referring to is a guide(s) fitted on each side of a Makita drop saw , which is useless to me as I have made myself a wooden saw bench complete with fence line. Have a nice day my friend. 🙏
