This is my newest attempt to have the right spices, sweeteners and oils that I need when I go out into the back country. Thank you so much for watching and please leave me a comment in the section below.

I have been using that exact kit for years the one suggestion I can make those tubes work ok at first but I eventually upgraded mine to some plastic screw top tubes that were thicker and hopefully stronger. Other then that its been a hell of a kit.

Thanks for the info. What kind of tubes did you use with the screw top?

Great kit. Couple of suggestions. The original choke kit had six plastic containers. It looks like you only used four. Take the top of one of the unused containers and drill a number of small holes through the top. When you want to dispense a spice, remove the solid top from the container and replace it temporarily with the modified top with the holes, shake out the spice, replace the solid top for safe storage. Keep the modified top in the pocket on the outside of the pouch along with the folding spatula. A suggested universal spice mixture I like to use is a mixture of equal amounts of salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Love your videos. You have given me lots of great ideas for diy camping and survival.

I do like this video. I remember the whole spice thing was easier when those 35mm film containers were plentiful. But this is a good idea. I have a similar tube or two of spices. I sometimes pour a bit into the cap itself and add it to my cooking..

Thank you. Yes, the 35mm canisters were great. The cap idea is a good one.

My first multi spice container, was a twelve spice holder, about three inches tall, and maybe three or four inches around. The spices were divided into triangular shaped compartments, narrow near the center, that widened towards the outside. I'm sure these are still for sale today. Everytime I went camping in my mid-teens, I went a little crazy on what I bought prior to camping; new hatchet, new machete, latest fold-out shovel, many fold out saws etc. But I love your idea, because I can bring the few spices I actually use, instead of a bunch that I'm not going to use, as well as liquids, such as olive oil, or even some steak sauce for short trips. I really need to go through all of the stuff I bought back then, as some of it was really cool, and useful for people other than myself. The problem is that they're still at my dad's house, so until the quarantine ends, I'll have to wait to see what all is there, I'm praying that it's still there, especially my very old percolator's. Thanks for the video, you've given me a great idea, and brought back a lot of memories I'd forgotten! Stay safe out there, and God bless!

This is a great spice kit - its very often that you want to keep the spice in one practical place - and this looks like a good solution. I enjoy you videos and I really think you are on to something here. I will follow you on the way and learn stuff that I didn't already now. I pressed the red button and are looking forward to more. All the best from a fellow youtuber and bushcrafter from sweden!

This is so crazy, the week just before you aired this video, I built my own spice box!! O by the way I did do your fry pan project, but with a twist. It uses no ears in the side like your and I didn't have a safety can opener, but I did over come this problem. If you want photos of my designs I will be glad to send them to you! Keep up the great work, you are giving me lots of great ideas!

I carry a plastic set of salt and pepper shakers. With a piece of duct tape over the top which I can pull up on one end and use and then reattach. I also have this one Shaker that holds like five different spices. I don't always bring it. Mainly I use salt and pepper. I also carry a small Shaker of lemon or lime salt if I plan something else I might bring something else a lot of things you can buy in those thin packets. Chili powder Taco powder and you can use those little dollar alcohol bottles like you get on a plane for stuff like olive oil. Or hot sauce. Plastic bottles are better than glass. To be honest I usually use a half pint flask for my olive oil. But I use it for a lot of things. Including a backup candle. If I need it.

I try to pre-mixed stuff before I go out. And put them in Ziploc bags. Or freezer bags. Oatmeal, stuff to make bread, some kind of breading for fish if that's what I had planned. They are pretty thin and store pretty easily and when empty you can burn them without a trace. I guess you could use them in emergency situations for carrying water

I tried using Tic Tac containers. With the small compactness of those I was able to have lots of options including some of what you chose. In mine I also had chili powder, cayene, Tabasco, Italian Seasoning and several others. Unfortunately, I set the packet aside and when I moved I lost it for awhile. When I finally found it I discovered that at least one of the Tic Tac containers had burst and there was powder everywhere in the container. I like your idea but, it just seems like it's an incomplete kit. But hey, do what works for you.
