Thank you for thanking your subscribers on here , iv noticed a lot of RU-viders just thank their patrons for “making this channel possible “ when it’s the subscribers that actually do that as patreon is a totally separate venue 😘
I guessed the bookbinding method this was for! I got to try it last year at Gen Con. Even though I love tabletop games, every year that I’ve done a bookbinding project, that has been my highlight. I’m looking forward to the secret Belgian video.
Thank you for sharing your real process with us - hiccups and all. I find it so helpful to see someone going through their own learning process, because I am probably going to come up against the same challenges myself. Thanks for this very helpful video!
You could have attached ALL of your shapes together so that they end up laid out on the mat the way you want (cricut won’t usually rotate images which is why they had 2 mats.) also, you can move and rotate things in the preview window to save space and material
Yep, in the mat preview, you can select each item and move or rotate it on the mat. You can also click on the ... menu for each image and choose to move it to another mat on the project.
Thank you for putting this together! I may look into making one for my nieces birthday next month :) A couple of other Cricut youtubers I like are Jennifer Maker (almost to 50k subs) and The Craft Scraps (just over 8K subs)
Great video... I pulled my Maker from the box and made the free project that came with it... now I need to learn how to make my own planner stickers... will you have a video of that?
That is so freaking cool. I plan on getting one of the Cricuts next year! It'll be SO helpful for various homeschool projects ^_^ Thanks so much for the video and taking the time to go through the process.
If you were going to destroy a mat, the light grip mat is the one to pick lol... I just bought a bunch of the green mats and took the tackiness down on one by pressing cotton to it until it was light grip. Then it can always be brought up to original tack again.
How nice! You'll love Cricut! I have a similar cutting machine, Silhouette, and I love it. Its addictive to work and cut paper with it! Also, I can't wait for the secret belgium binding video. I already loved the cover! 😍
@@vickyls8132 Hello. I can't really say about the other machines, but silhouette has a lot of versions. There is the version that can cut thick materials, the version that you can work with photography, the version you can apply metalized textures... if you stick with the basic version, silhouette cameo, you'll be a little limited. But I suggest you can see someone using cricut and silhouette and ask users what did they find about them. I bought silhouette because in my country, the supplies for that machine are easier to find, but I would do the same research if I could easily buy any of them. I hope I could help.
Two questions ~ 1) Will the Cricut Maker work on a IOS APPLE IPAD PRO or do I need a computer ~ laptop? 2) Seeing that the Cricut Maker cut’s chipboard ~ will it also cut grey bookbinding cover board too?
One thing I don't get, if the Cricut machine and design space always leaves 1/4 inch away from the border, why doesn't the grid strart there? Or have a second grid line. We use it all the time so we just manually made a second square 1/4 inch smaller all around. It's kind of annoying.
Sounds like you learned a lot in what they call “Tye hard way” 😬 You need thermowebs purple tape! It’s also recommended to open your chipboard and leave it unwrapped a few days before cutting because based on your humidity, it will shrink. Some great Cricut experts on you tube are Melody Lane; Kens Kreations & Jenifer Maker.
Hello! Thank you for this amazing video, Its very helpful. Also do you think it is possible to cut multiple sheets at the same time? For example 6 pages of white paper just like your diy notebook projects?
I have the original Cricut Explore and it might be that those number of passes are for that? Even though it did say to load the knife attachment. I did cut chipboard in mine, though not that many passes. I don't remember if it was 2mm or 1,5mm. The only problem I had was that it dulled my blade fast. But yeah, these machines are very powerful and I am soo tempted to get a Maker.
Hello! I'm a bookbinder and I can answer your question. The secret Belgian binding was created on the 80's by a belgian woman named Anne Goy. She wanted a kind of binding that let the book open flat, and created this sewing inspired by the Japanese binding methods. It's called "secret" because, if you don't know how to bind, you can't figure it out just by looking at it because the finalization is perfect. Curiously, Anne herself doesn't call it secret binding, but "crisscross" binding. It's one of the bindings I love the most.
Would you be able to make a double text blocked book like that from Practical Magic? I have always found that style of binding interesting but have never found a good link on how to replicate it
Hello! I saw this comment and went to look for this book because I love this movie. I found a link that teaches how to make it by pictures and text explanations: thepinterestinglifeofgothastewart.com/tag/practical-magic/ Also, Jennifer here has a tutorial on the kind of sewing they show on the tutorial, the kettle stitch. Of course it doesn't substitute a video, but I hope you find it useful. I really liked this book.
I found a book binding image in Design Space but I have no idea how to make the book. The design number is: #M5A342E3 I wonder if you could point me in the right direction as to how to make this? Cutting out is easy on my Maker but it is no good if I don't know what to do with the result!!
Sorry but the cricket would drive me nuts!!! it would be out on the road for the cars to run over it!!! lmafo! sooo yepp pretty much!!The cricket would probably give me a migraine!!
Great instructional video. But your music is distracting. I suggest when you are speaking to please NOT have background music. It's distracting to some, but for those with hearing or learning difficulties it could mean they would not hear or understand you.
