Fantastic as always Chris… great comparison of the different glueing options (and the paper hack for the contact glue is brilliant). You still have the most relaxing voice on RU-vid 👍🏻😄… you could read the ingredients on a cereal packet and it would sound amazing.

I was looking up how to secure horns to your head and found this instead, went to see what else you have on your channel and damn you’ve got such a great library of knowledge. I really don’t like making things from foam or buying new things at all (I’m fortunate to have a secondhand art supply in my city) but the horns I made myself for the Renaissance Faire are too heavy to dance in at the Vampire Ball so it’s looking like I need to cave and make some foam horns. I appreciate you sharing with us, this was comprehensive and informative.

I never actually realized you're also a fellow Canadian foam worker! Hello from Canada as well! I'm glad you also understand the struggles of finding stuff that is available in canada, and showing different techniques to put stuff together! Love watching your videos! If I may ask, how did you make the patterns for the foam horns?
@LostWax
@LostWax 8 месяцев назад
Hi Canadian!! Yep, I used to live in Australia and it's even harder to find stuff over there! For the horns, I modelled them in Blender, then unfolded them in Pepakura, then simplified the pattern and remade it in an illustration app (Affinity Designer). Then, of course tested them all and tweaked them if they weren't quite right.

Thank you much! I think we've technically got all our horn-making needs met! Any thoughts or suggestions on.. antlers?
@LostWax
@LostWax Год назад
Hmmm... antlers... should be possible...in a sense they are just a bunch of horns all together..... I'll give it some thought.

Any tips on attaching them to a human head? Perhaps barettes or plastic headband?
@bramklinkenberg9140
@bramklinkenberg9140 Год назад
Check out his unicorn horn video for ideas. Dunno how well those work on these but that might give you u some ideas
@LostWax
@LostWax Год назад
I'm gonna do some experimenting, but so far, I think the best is a thin headband that is tight enough on the head and strong enough- I found a thin metal one that works well. I don't think barrettes will work for the larger horns but they might for the smaller ones. Also, worth thinking about is attaching them to a wig and then wearing the wig.
@beckymurphy4714
@beckymurphy4714 Год назад
If you cut a piece of foam to the size of the base and glue that into the horn, you can insert rare earth (neodymium) magnets into that base. Then add magnets to a wide headband (it should be wide enough for the horns to sit securely); you can cover them with a strip of thin EVA (craft) foam if you want them hidden. Style hair or wig around the base to hide the headband and make it appear as if the horns are growing from your head. Nsomniak's Dream has a video on using this technique for dragon horns.
@LostWax
@LostWax Год назад
@@beckymurphy4714 Sounds like a great idea, then you can use one headband and multiple different horn types

Do you have a pattern for lilith horns from Hazbin hotel? I can't find this type of horns anywhere
@bramklinkenberg9140
@bramklinkenberg9140 Год назад
Does the D-shaped horn also work if you do the undercut on any of the other pieces? Because now you have the flat part of the D start on the underside of the horn, but I suppose it could also look cool to have it start at the front- or back. But I don't know how well it will work for putting the pieces together.
@LostWax
@LostWax Год назад
Yep, that should work totally fine.

Hi ! Was going to buy the horn pattern and finally bought the full bundle. But I have a question, is there a way to identify the horns from the pattern ? Adding a preview of each horn will be very nice. Or maybe the matching letter on the intro picture ?
@LostWax
@LostWax Месяц назад
Hi There, thanks for reaching out! To be honest I thought I had done a graphic with the different types of horns, but now I realize that I only have variations of the ram horn shown in the video, not the rest of them. I'll have a look and see if I can put something together, but it might take me a little bit of time as I am right in the middle of making a Roman helmet.
@LivinTheDream.
@LivinTheDream. 9 месяцев назад
Question though, can I make this pattern larger? Do you have that option?
@LostWax
@LostWax 9 месяцев назад
It would be scaleable, though that would require printing on a larger paper size.
@micahjensen2882
@micahjensen2882 Год назад
Do these horns work on armor pieces or just the head? Also, can you downsize the horns during the printing to make a smaller horn or does that not work?
@LostWax
@LostWax Год назад
They'll definitely work on armor pieces- probably easier because you can just glue them on. They should be downsizeable, though once you get to a certain size you might want to use thinner foam.

Further down on the form where the I am not a Robot box is, is this message: ERROR for site owner: Invalid domain for site key. If that means anything or helps lol. Thanks.

I recently found your website! Only one drawback, when it came to printing out, in PDF format, the several "ram horn" patterns, you made in the video? Even though I could have bought several more Ram horn patterns, and in a bundle?! Cool! But getting back to my point. Is there another way in where I can access the horn patterns, in PDF format?
@LostWax

Hi there, I'm not totally sure what you are asking me, if you bought the horn bundle, they should all be there in PDF format for you. Or are you having problems downloading them?

@@LostWax I have no problem with the "printing out of" of the Ram horn" plans, it's just that when it came to accessing the PDF format? I wasn't able to see those words "PDF" for the printing process?! The web site did specify, those ram horns you made in your video? Including other Ram horns, and of a unicorn! At at various lengths as well and in a bundle! When reading that detail?! "Awesome!" I said to myself. And I just need to know if you accept mo's as "form of payment?" Because I would really would like to buy that bundle of Ram horn bundle, please.

Ah, yes, all my patterns are in PDF format. As far as payment options, Gumroad takes of that end for me, so I'm not sure what all the different payment forms they accept.

@@LostWax Good to know that! Just who the heck is "Gumroad?" I will but not getting my hopes up! At finding and entering your web page? And when I end up seeing the same blockage? I'll be missing out on using those "Ram horn" patterns and make a pair of my own. FRACK!

Gumroad is just the company that takes the payment and then sends out the download links etc. Like Shopify or any of those other ones. Mind me asking what blockage you are seeing? can you not access the purchase page from my website?
