This video marks the start of my Jeep transformation. I painted all the inserts and bezel pieces, except the steering wheel, blue. I used Krylon Fusion paint made specifically for plastic. It has been about a month since I painted and have seen no faults in the paint or quality!

Yea, I didn't get the greatest clips while painting. I was more worried about making sure I did the painting right. Going forward, trying to get better video with each mod! Thanks for watching!!

Why didn't you do the steering wheel? I did it on my old jeep....just got the new 2018 Rubicon Recon I LOVE IT!!!

I'm just curious how it looks now? Did the paint fade or rub off from people entering and exiting or anything over time or does it still look good?

Corey Crow in all honesty, it looks brand new. no fading at all and i drive with the top off as much as possible.

BunsNation I did not sand before painting. Some choose to but because I used the Krylon spray paint for outdoor plastic items I decided it was unnecessary. I think as long as you clean them well before painting it will give you a good end result.

LuisMario Gonzalez The type of paint I ended up using said on the can that a clear coat was not necessary. It has been about 5 months since I painted them and most of the summer I was driving doorless or windows down and the paint still looks just like new. Thanks for watching!

Nice, just make sure you have even coats of paint and no direct spray cause then it will puddle and then you have to start over. Good Luck!

Joshua John I used a spray paint for outdoor plastics. the brand is Krylon, should be able to pick it up at your local hardware store. Got mine at Canadian Tire

Hey thanks for the comment! I chose not to use a clear coat because the paint I used was meant for outdoor use so i didn't think it was necessary. You could use one if you want though but i didn't bother. Good luck!!

I think it was a Royal Blue. It was the only one that I could find at Canadian Tire with the Krylon brand.

Lewis Dobson The brand name is Krylon. Its an outdoors paint for plastics. I got it at Canadian Tire.

How did you take off just the cover of the ac vent?

Ashley Albarran Once you remove the vent unit from the dash you can lift the tabs on the side of the unit carefully to remove the cover. Check it out at 0:45 and 2:15.
